    Pudhari Srilatha1, Ahmed M. Hassan2, B. Shankar Goud3,*, E. Ranjit Kumar4

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.21, pp. 539-562, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.043023

Abstract The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence that slip boundary conditions have on the rate of heat and mass transfer by examining the behavior of micropolar MHD flow across a porous stretching sheet. In addition to this, the impacts of thermal radiation and viscous dissipation are taken into account. With the use of various computing strategies, numerical results have been produced. Similarity transformation was utilized in order to convert the partial differential equations (PDEs) that regulated energy, rotational momentum, concentration, and momentum into ordinary differential equations (ODEs). As compared to earlier published research, MATLAB inbuilt solver solution… More > Graphic Abstract

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.6, pp. 485-500, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2023.025989

Abstract As a critical structure of aerospace equipment, aluminum alloy stiffened plate will influence the stability of spacecraft in orbit and the normal operation of the system. In this study, a GWO-ELM algorithm-based impact damage identification method is proposed for aluminum alloy stiffened panels to monitor and evaluate the damage condition of such stiffened panels of spacecraft. Firstly, together with numerical simulation, the experimental simulation to obtain the damage acoustic emission signals of aluminum alloy reinforced panels is performed, to establish the damage data. Subsequently, the amplitude-frequency characteristics of impact damage signals are extracted and put into an extreme learning machine… More >

    Mohammad Hamidi1,*, Florentin Smarandache2, Mohadeseh Taghinezhad1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1907-1923, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030284

Abstract This paper explores the defects in fuzzy (hyper) graphs (as complex (hyper) networks) and extends the fuzzy (hyper) graphs to fuzzy (quasi) superhypergraphs as a new concept. We have modeled the fuzzy superhypergraphs as complex superhypernetworks in order to make a relation between labeled objects in the form of details and generalities. Indeed, the structure of fuzzy (quasi) superhypergraphs collects groups of labeled objects and analyzes them in the form of the part to part of objects, the part of objects to the whole group of objects, and the whole to the whole group of objects at the same time.… More >

    Yue Cui1,*, Liyuan Wang2, Jian Wu1, Haisheng Liu1, Di Wu1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.1, pp. 165-177, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.030311

Abstract This study aims to improve the performances of the high-pressure water descaling technology used in steel hot rolling processes. In particular, a 2050 mm hot rolling line is considered, and the problem is investigated by means of a fluid–structure interaction (FSI) method by which the descaling effect produced by rolling coils with different section sizes is examined. Assuming a flat fan-shaped nozzle at the entrance of the R1R2 roughing mill, the out- flow field characteristics and the velocity distribution curve on the strike line (at a target distance of 30–120 mm) are determined. It is found that the velocity in… More >

Bifurcation Analysis of a Nonlinear Vibro-Impact System with an Uncertain Parameter via OPA Method

    Dongmei Huang1, Dang Hong2, Wei Li1,*, Guidong Yang1, Vesna Rajic3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.1, pp. 509-524, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029215

Abstract In this paper, the bifurcation properties of the vibro-impact systems with an uncertain parameter under the impulse and harmonic excitations are investigated. Firstly, by means of the orthogonal polynomial approximation (OPA) method, the nonlinear damping and stiffness are expanded into the linear combination of the state variable. The condition for the appearance of the vibro-impact phenomenon is to be transformed based on the calculation of the mean value. Afterwards, the stochastic vibro-impact system can be turned into an equivalent high-dimensional deterministic non-smooth system. Two different Poincaré sections are chosen to analyze the bifurcation properties and the impact numbers are identified… More >

Study of Intelligent Approaches to Identify Impact of Environmental Temperature on Ultrasonic GWs Based SHM: A Review

    Saqlain Abbas1,2,*, Zulkarnain Abbas3, Xiaotong Tu4, Yanping Zhu2

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.5, pp. 43-56, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jai.2023.040948

Abstract Structural health monitoring (SHM) is considered an effective approach to analyze the efficient working of several mechanical components. For this purpose, ultrasonic guided waves can cover long-distance and assess large infrastructures in just a single test using a small number of transducers. However, the working of the SHM mechanism can be affected by some sources of variations (i.e., environmental). To improve the final results of ultrasonic guided wave inspections, it is necessary to highlight and attenuate these environmental variations. The loading parameters, temperature and humidity have been recognized as the core environmental sources of variations that affect the SHM sensing… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.10, pp. 2875-2890, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.031064

Abstract Water is the most essential natural resource for the future development. Agriculture production is extensively water-dependent and a significant polluter of water resources. So, this work investigated the effect of two different preparation media [Bold’s Basal Medium (BBM) and Domiati cheese whey (DCW)] for agricultural drainage water (ADW) remediation. All treatments were incubated for 6 days. According to the results of biomass productivity, specific growth rate, photosynthetic pigments, and biochemical composition, Desmodesmus sp. can grow in drainage water without dilution. The two treatments significantly reduced the concentration of nitrate, phosphate, chemical oxygen demand, and sodium in ADW. Finally, using cheese… More >

The Impact of Aggregation Platforms on the Ride-Sourcing Market with Different Models of Companies

    Xin Zhang1,2, Gege Jiang1,2,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 1-5, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09222

Abstract With the booming development of the ride-sourcing (RS)industry, aggregation platforms that integrate RS companies have emerged in recent years, such as Gaode and Meituan. Aggregation platforms can consolidate resources and avoid fragmentation of the market. But the emergence of aggregation platforms has also changed the market structure and brought challenges. This paper explores the impact of aggregation platforms on the market with two models of companies: customer-to-customer (C2C) companies, and business-to-customer (B2C) companies. C2C companies adjust supply and demand to maximize revenue by determining travel fares and the cut taken from the travel fares, i.e., the commission. B2C companies will… More >

Low-Velocity Impact Response of Sandwich Composite Panels with Shear Stiffening Gel Filled Honeycomb Cores

    Gaojian Lin11,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 1-2, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09075

Abstract Over decades, sandwich composite panels (SCPs) have been widely used to fabricate lightweight but strong structural components. However, composite sandwich structures are susceptible to impact damage, which may severely reduce the structural stiffness, stability, and load-carrying capacity[1, 2]. In order to enhance the anti-impact capacity of SCPs, a series of novel core structures[3-5] and filling materials[6-8] have been proposed and tested. One of them is the shear thickening fluids (STFs), which mechanical behavior changed from liquid to solid when subjected to high strain rate shear loading[7, 9]. For example, Fu et al.[10] filled the honeycomb cores of Carbon fiber reinforced… More >

Multiscale Structural Design and Fracture Control of High-Performance Biomimetic Materials

    Kaijin Wu1,*, Yong Ni1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 1-2, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09028

Abstract Bioinspired architectural design for composites with much higher impact-resistance and fracture-resistance than that of individual constituent remains a major challenge for engineers and scientists. Inspired by the survival war between the mantis shrimps and abalones, we develop multiscale mechanical methods to design structures and control fractures in high-performance biomimetic materials. The first point is the optimization design of impact-resistant nacre-like materials [1-4]. By a combination of simulation, additive manufacturing, and drop tower testing we revealed that, at a critical interfacial strength or a critical prestress, the competition between intralayer cracks and interlayer delamination, or the synergistic effect between the prestress-enhanced… More >
