    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 431-446, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016165

Abstract Assuring medical images protection and robustness is a compulsory necessity nowadays. In this paper, a novel technique is proposed that fuses the wavelet-induced multi-resolution decomposition of the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) with the energy compaction of the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DCT). The multi-level Encryption-based Hybrid Fusion Technique (EbhFT) aims to achieve great advances in terms of imperceptibility and security of medical images. A DWT disintegrated sub-band of a cover image is reformed simultaneously using the DCT transform. Afterwards, a 64-bit hex key is employed to encrypt the host image as well as participate in the second key creation process to… More >

Muhammad Adeel Azam1, Khan Bahadar Khan2,*, Muhammad Ahmad3, Manuel Mazzara4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 821-840, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016131

Abstract For the last two decades, physicians and clinical experts have used a single imaging modality to identify the normal and abnormal structure of the human body. However, most of the time, medical experts are unable to accurately analyze and examine the information from a single imaging modality due to the limited information. To overcome this problem, a multimodal approach is adopted to increase the qualitative and quantitative medical information which helps the doctors to easily diagnose diseases in their early stages. In the proposed method, a Multi-resolution Rigid Registration (MRR) technique is used for multimodal image registration while Discrete Wavelet… More >

Medical Image Compression Based on Wavelets with Particle Swarm Optimization

    Monagi H. Alkinani1,*, E. A. Zanaty2, Sherif M. Ibrahim3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1577-1593, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014803

Abstract This paper presents a novel method utilizing wavelets with particle swarm optimization (PSO) for medical image compression. Our method utilizes PSO to overcome the wavelets discontinuity which occurs when compressing images using thresholding. It transfers images into subband details and approximations using a modified Haar wavelet (MHW), and then applies a threshold. PSO is applied for selecting a particle assigned to the threshold values for the subbands. Nine positions assigned to particles values are used to represent population. Every particle updates its position depending on the global best position (gbest) (for all details subband) and local best position (pbest) (for… More >

Intelligent Breast Cancer Prediction Empowered with Fusion and Deep Learning

Shahan Yamin Siddiqui1,2, Iftikhar Naseer3, Muhammad Adnan Khan4, Muhammad Faheem Mushtaq5, Rizwan Ali Naqvi6,*, Dildar Hussain7, Amir Haider8

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 1033-1049, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013952

Abstract Breast cancer is the most frequently detected tumor that eventually could result in a significant increase in female mortality globally. According to clinical statistics, one woman out of eight is under the threat of breast cancer. Lifestyle and inheritance patterns may be a reason behind its spread among women. However, some preventive measures, such as tests and periodic clinical checks can mitigate its risk thereby, improving its survival chances substantially. Early diagnosis and initial stage treatment can help increase the survival rate. For that purpose, pathologists can gather support from nondestructive and efficient computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems. This study explores… More >

ALCencryption: A Secure and Efficient Algorithm for Medical Image Encryption

    Jiao Ge1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.125, No.3, pp. 1083-1100, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.013039

Abstract With the rapid development of medical informatization and the popularization of digital imaging equipment, DICOM images contain the personal privacy of patients, and there are security risks in the process of storage and transmission, so it needs to be encrypted. In order to solve the security problem of medical images on mobile devices, a safe and efficient medical image encryption algorithm called ALCencryption is designed. The algorithm first analyzes the medical image and distinguishes the color image from the gray image. For gray images, the improved Arnold map is used to scramble them according to the optimal number of iterations,… More >

Abstract In the healthcare system, the Internet of Things (IoT) based distributed systems play a vital role in transferring the medical-related documents and information among the organizations to reduce the replication in medical tests. This datum is sensitive, and hence security is a must in transforming the sensational contents. In this paper, an Evolutionary Algorithm, namely the Memetic Algorithm is used for encrypting the text messages. The encrypted information is then inserted into the medical images using Discrete Wavelet Transform 1 level and 2 levels. The reverse method of the Memetic Algorithm is implemented when extracting a hidden message from the… More >

Adaptive Image Enhancement Using Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization and Watershed Segmentation

    N. Mohanapriya1, Dr. B. Kalaavathi2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 663-672, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000041

Abstract Medical images are obtained straight from the medical acquisition devices so that, the image quality becomes poor and may contain noises. Low contrast and poor quality are the major issues in the production of medical images. Medical imaging enhancement technology gives way to solve these issues; it helps the doctors to see the interior portions of the body for early diagnosis, also it improves the features the visual aspects of an image for a right diagnosis. This paper proposes a new blend of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Accelerated Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO) called Hybrid Partial Swarm Optimization (HPSO) to… More >

Abstract With the development of the internet of medical things (IoMT), the privacy protection problem has become more and more critical. In this paper, we propose a privacy protection scheme for medical images based on DenseNet and coverless steganography. For a given group of medical images of one patient, DenseNet is used to regroup the images based on feature similarity comparison. Then the mapping indexes can be constructed based on LBP feature and hash generation. After mapping the privacy information with the hash sequences, the corresponding mapped indexes of secret information will be packed together with the medical images group and… More >
