    I.S. Oyelakina,† , S. Mondala,* , P. Sibandaa

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.8, pp. 1-9, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.8.37

Abstract In this paper we study the effects of thermal radiation, heat and mass transfer on the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) flow of a three dimensional Casson nanofluid. The flow is subject to partial slip and convective conditions. The traditional model which includes the effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis is revised so that the nanofluid particle volume fraction on the boundary is not actively controlled. In this respect the problem is more realistic. The dimensionless governing equations were solved using the spectral quasi-linearisation method. This work aims to fill the gap in existing literature by showing the effects of porosity, magnetic field… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.8, pp. 1-8, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.8.13

Abstract Nowadays external magnetic fields are capable of setting the thermal and physical properties of magnetic-nanofluids and regulate the flow and heat transfer characteristics. The strength of the applied magnetic field affects the thermal conductivity of magnetic nanofluids and makes it aeolotropic. With this incentive, we investigate the flow and heat transfer of electrically conducting liquid film flow of Carreau nanofluid over a stretching sheet by considering the aligned magnetic field in the presence of space and temperature dependent heat source/sink and viscous dissipation. For this study, we considered kerosene as the base fluid embedded with the silver (Ag) and copper… More >

Abstract The effects of radiation absorption, first order chemical reaction and diffusion thermo on MHD free convective heat and mass transfer flow of a nanofluid past a semi infinite vertical flat plate are analyzed. The temperature and concentration at the surface are assumed to be oscillatory type. Four types of cubic nano particles which are uniform and size namely, Silver (Ag), Aluminum (Al2O3), Copper (Cu) and Titanium Oxide (TiO2) with water as a base fluid is taken into account. The set of ordinary differential equations are solved by using regular perturbation technique. The impact of various flow parameters on nanofluid velocity,… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-9, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.30

Abstract Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) nanofluid flow considered to be steady, incompressible and electrically conducting, flows through permeable plates in the presence of convective heating, models as a system of nonlinear partial differential equations which are solved analytically by the Differential Transform Method (DTM). Copper, aluminum oxide and titanium dioxide nanoparticles are considered with Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC)– water as the base fluid. Variation of the effects of pertinent parameters on fluid velocity and temperature is analyzed parametrically. Verification between analytical (DTM) and numerical (fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme) results and previous published research is shown to be quite agreeable. The temperature of Cu-water is… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-10, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.11

Abstract A numerical study has been performed to investigate mixed convection flow in a vented square cavity with circular cooling obstacle. The governing equations such as two dimensional Navier-Stokes, continuity, and energy balance equations have been solved using a finite volume discretization method with SIMPLE algorithm. The effect of the Richardson number, outlet port location and volume fraction of nanoparticles were studied. The outlet port is varied from top to bottom in order to find the maximum heat transfer rate. The results indicated that by increasing the volume fraction of nanoparticles and reducing Richardson number, the heat transfer rate is enhanced.… More >

A CHEBYSHEV SPECTRAL METHOD FOR HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN MHD NANOFLUID FLOW WITH SPACE FRACTIONAL CONSTITUTIVE MODEL

Shina D. Oloniiju , Sicelo P. Goqo, Precious Sibanda

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-8, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.19

Abstract In some recent studies, it has been suggested that non–Newtonian fluid flow can be modeled by a spatially non–local velocity, whose dynamics are described by a fractional derivative. In this study, we use the space fractional constitutive relation to model heat and mass transfer in a nanofluid. We present a numerically accurate algorithm for approximating solutions of the system of fractional ordinary differential equations describing the nanofluid flow. We present numerically stable differentiation matrices for both integer and fractional order derivatives defined by the one–sided Caputo derivative. The differentiation matrices are based on the series expansion of the unknown functions… More >

Lohit Sharmaa , Sunil Kumara , Robin Thakura , Bhaskar Goela , Amar Raj Singh Suria , Sashank Thapaa , Nitin Kumara , Rajesh Maithanib , Anil Kumarb

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-15, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.30

Abstract This article presents an extensive review on exergy analysis of nanofluid flow through heat exchanger channels. The improvement of exergy efficiency of nanofluid flow through heat exchanger are determined by the net impact of the relative variations in the thermophysical properties of the nanoparticle which are sensitive towards numerous parameters including size and shape, material and concentration as well as base fluid thermal properties. Exergy efficiency of nanofluids flowing through heat exchanger is greater as compare to simple conventional fluids. The augmentation of exergy efficiency in the nanofluid flow through heat exchangers can be achieved by breaking laminar sub layer… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-11, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.6

Abstract The present work provides an analysis of the Dufour, radiation absorption, Hall and ion slip effects on MHD free convective rotating flow of Agwater based nanofluid past a semi-infinite permeable moving plate with constant heat source. In this regard, metal will be considered as nanoparticles with water as base fluid. Governing nonlinear boundary layer equations and boundary conditions are transformed into a system of nonlinear ordinary coupled differential equations and are solved by perturbation technique. Effects of different parameters on skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number and Local Sherwood number are also discussed. More >
