    Abstract This study presents a case study on the heavy metal analysis of soil and plant samples around the Murgul copper mine, one of the first and most important mining areas in Turkey. An attempt has been made to investigate the status of trace elements like Al3+, Fe2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Ni2+, Co2+ and Cd2+ in soils and plants.     Abstract As we know, anthropogenic activities of Power Engineering create wastewater and air pollution, lead to aerosol attenuation of solar radiation and to growth of entropy on the Earth and, as result, climate change.     Waste Tire Rubberized Concrete Plates for Airport Pavements: Stress and Strain Profiles in Time and Space Domains

    Abstract The present study follows a previous study on the stress and strain profiles along the cross-section of waste tire rubberized concrete plates for airport pavements, subjected to quasi-static loads [Ferretti and Bignozzi (2012)]. Further results on the in-situ performance of concrete plain and rubberized taxiways have been collected and presented here.     Abstract In this study, the results of an in-situ experimental program on the performance of concrete taxiways are presented. The experimental program has been undertaken at the Guglielmo Marconi airport of Bologna (Italy). It concerns two portions of the taxiway, one built with plain concrete and one with rubberized concrete. Each portion has been instrumented with strain gauges embedded in concrete for the acquisition of vertical strains. The results of the experimentation are discussed in view of possible applications to the computational analysis of the stress field induced into pavements by aircrafts. More >

    Abstract Nearly pollution-free solutions of the Helmholtz equation for k-values corresponding to visible light are demonstrated and verified through experimentally measured forward scattered intensity from an optical fiber. Numerically accurate solutions are, in particular, obtained through a novel reformulation of the H1 optimal Petrov-Galerkin weak form of the Helmholtz equation. Specifically, within a globally smooth polynomial reproducing framework, the compact and smooth test functions are so designed that their normal derivatives are zero everywhere on the local boundaries of their compact supports.     Abstract The study is focused on numerical simulation of the process of coastal pollution by wastewater in the Bay of Tangier in Morocco.
