Saccharification of Sugarcane Bagasse Using an Enzymatic Extract Produced by Aspergillus fumigatus

    Kênia F. R. Lamounier1, Patrisia O. Rodrigues1, Daniel Pasquini2*, Milla A. Baffi1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.6, No.2, pp. 169-175, 2018, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2017.634151

Abstract This study investigates the efficiency of a crude enzymatic extract produced by Aspergillus fumigatus SCBM6 by solid state fermentation (SSF) in the hydrolysis of alkali pretreated sugarcane bagasse (PTB). After SSF using in natura sugarcane bagasse (SCB), the enzymatic extract presented 21.33 U.g–1 of β-glucosidase and 544.46 U.g–1of xylanase. The alkaline pretreatment with sodium hydroxide (2% NaOH (w/v) removed 43% of the lignin from PTB and the cellulosic fraction increased to 75%. The hydrolysis was optimized as a function of time, temperature, and concentration of PTB. After hydrolysis, the maximum yield (30.05%) of total released reducing sugars (TRS) was obtained… More >

Ultrasound-Assisted Synthesis of Sucrose and Fructooligosaccharides Esters as Bio-Plasticizers

    Dragomir Vassilev1*, Nadezhda Petkova2, Milena Koleva1, Panteley Denev2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.4, No.1, pp. 24-30, 2016, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2015.634125

Abstract This article presents the results obtained by the ultrasound-assisted synthesis of sucrose and fructooligosaccharides (FOS) esters with fatty acids (palmitic and 10-undecylenic), the identifi cation of the products and the study of their possible application as plasticizers in plastics processing. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H and 13C NMR) spectroscopy were used to identify the synthesized carbohydrate esters. The plasticizing effect of the sucrose palmitate applied in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was evaluated by the glass transition temperatures; the decrease of the Tg with the increase of the ester content could be accepted as confi rmation of… More >

A Scalable Approach for Fraud Detection in Online E-Commerce Transactions with Big Data Analytics

    Hangjun Zhou1,2,*, Guang Sun1,3, Sha Fu1, Wangdong Jiang1, Juan Xue1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.1, pp. 179-192, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05214

Abstract With the rapid development of mobile Internet and finance technology, online e-commerce transactions have been increasing and expanding very fast, which globally brings a lot of convenience and availability to our life, but meanwhile, chances of committing frauds also come in all shapes and sizes. Moreover, fraud detection in online e-commerce transactions is not totally the same to that in the existing areas due to the massive amounts of data generated in e-commerce, which makes the fraudulent transactions more covertly scattered with genuine transactions than before. In this article, a novel scalable and comprehensive approach for fraud detection in online… More >

Smart Security Framework for Educational Institutions Using Internet of Things (IoT)

    Afzal Badshah1, Anwar Ghani1, Muhammad Ahsan Qureshi2, Shahaboddin Shamshirband,3,4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.1, pp. 81-101, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06288

Abstract Educational institutions are soft targets for the terrorist with massive and defenseless people. In the recent past, numbers of such attacks have been executed around the world. Conducting research, in order to provide a secure environment to the educational institutions is a challenging task. This effort is motivated by recent assaults, made at Army Public School Peshawar, following another attack at Charsada University, Khyber Pukhtun Khwa, Pakistan and also the Santa Fe High School Texas, USA massacre. This study uses the basic technologies of edge computing, cloud computing and IoT to design a smart emergency alarm system framework. IoT is… More >

Design of ECC based Secured Cloud Storage Mechanism for Transaction Rich Applications

    V. Gopinath1, R. S. Bhuvaneswaran2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.2, pp. 341-352, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.04006

Abstract Cloud computing is the highly demanded technology nowadays. Due to the service oriented architecture, seamless accessibility and other advantages of this advent technology, many transaction rich applications are making use of it. At the same time, it is vulnerable to hacks and threats. Hence securing this environment is of at most important and many research works are being reported focusing on it. This paper proposes a safe storage mechanism using Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) for the Transaction Rich Applications (TRA). With ECC based security scheme, the security level of the protected system will be increased and it is more suitable… More >
