    Ernesto Lee1, Furqan Rustam2, Hina Fatima Shahzad2, Patrick Bernard Washington3, Abid Ishaq3, Imran Ashraf4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 3053-3077, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.029059

Abstract With the increasing usage of drugs to remedy different diseases, drug safety has become crucial over the past few years. Often medicine from several companies is offered for a single disease that involves the same/similar substances with slightly different formulae. Such diversification is both helpful and dangerous as such medicine proves to be more effective or shows side effects to different patients. Despite clinical trials, side effects are reported when the medicine is used by the mass public, of which several such experiences are shared on social media platforms. A system capable of analyzing such reviews could be very helpful… More >

Kisaezehra1, Muhammad Umer Farooq1,*, Muhammad Aslam Bhutto2, Abdul Karim Kazi1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 911-927, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.031359

Abstract The construction industry has always remained the economic and social backbone of any country in the world where occupational health and safety (OHS) is of prime importance. Like in other developing countries, this industry pays very little, rather negligible attention to OHS practices in Pakistan, resulting in the occurrence of a wide variety of accidents, mishaps, and near-misses every year. One of the major causes of such mishaps is the non-wearing of safety helmets (hard hats) at construction sites where falling objects from a height are unavoidable. In most cases, this leads to serious brain injuries in people present at… More >

    Hanhan Zhang1, Zhihui Xu2, Hong Qian1, Xiaoyan Su1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.2, pp. 1005-1019, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021898

Abstract Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is a widely used safety assessment method in many fields. Z-number was previously applied in FMEA since it can take both possibility and reliability of information into consideration. However, the use of fuzzy weighted mean to integrate Z-valuations may have some drawbacks and is not suitable for some situations. In this paper, an improved method is proposed based on Z-numbers and the graded mean integration representation (GMIR) to deal with the uncertain information in FMEA. First, Z-numbers are constructed based on the evaluations of risk factors O, S, D for each failure mode by… More >

    Guodong Liu1,2,*, Zhijun Zhou1, Shiqiang Xu1, Wenjing Mi2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.133, No.2, pp. 351-375, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020335

Abstract Water level variations have caused numerous dam slope collapse disasters around the world, illustrating the large influence of water level fluctuations on dam slopes. The required indoor tests were conducted and a numerical model of an actual earth-filled dam was constructed to investigate the influences of the water level fluctuation rate and the hysteresis of the soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) on the stability of the upstream dam slope. The results revealed that the free surface in the dam body for the desorption SWCC during water level fluctuations was higher than that for the adsorption SWCC, which would be more evident… More >

Abstract Most cancer cells overexpress the anti-apoptotic protein survivin and display redox dysregulation originating from genotypic and phenotypic alterations. These disturbances contribute to the uncontrolled proliferation, invasion, and chemoresistance of cancer cells, yet they also represent a specific vulnerability that could be exploited therapeutically in selected tumors. YM155 (sepantronium bromide) is a naphthoquinone-containing imidazolebased compound that selectively inhibits survivin expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. Here, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical studies in which YM155 was administered as monotherapy or combination therapy for patients with cancer. We assessed fully or partially reported clinical outcomes and pharmacological… More >
