    Mercy Sharon Devadas1, N. Bhalaji1,*, Xiao-Zhi Gao2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 2685-2702, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.031636

Abstract In Mobile ad hoc Networks (MANETs), the packet scheduling process is considered the major challenge because of error-prone connectivity among mobile nodes that introduces intolerable delay and insufficient throughput with high packet loss. In this paper, a Modified Firefly Optimization Algorithm improved Fuzzy Scheduler-based Packet Scheduling (MFPA-FSPS) Mechanism is proposed for sustaining Quality of Service (QoS) in the network. This MFPA-FSPS mechanism included a Fuzzy-based priority scheduler by inheriting the merits of the Sugeno Fuzzy inference system that potentially and adaptively estimated packets’ priority for guaranteeing optimal network performance. It further used the modified Firefly Optimization Algorithm to optimize the… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.3, pp. 2815-2840, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.027146

Abstract The multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem (MS-RCPSP) is a significant management science problem that extends from the resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) and is integrated with a real project and production environment. To solve MS-RCPSP, it is an efficient method to use dispatching rules combined with a parallel scheduling mechanism to generate a scheduling scheme. This paper proposes an improved gene expression programming (IGEP) approach to explore newly dispatching rules that can broadly solve MS-RCPSP. A new backward traversal decoding mechanism, and several neighborhood operators are applied in IGEP. The backward traversal decoding mechanism dramatically reduces the space complexity in… More > Graphic Abstract

    Mengkai Zhao1, Zhixia Zhang2, Tian Fan1, Wanwan Guo1, Zhihua Cui1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.3, pp. 2425-2450, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.026671

Abstract Due to the security and scalability features of hybrid cloud architecture, it can better meet the diverse requirements of users for cloud services. And a reasonable resource allocation solution is the key to adequately utilize the hybrid cloud. However, most previous studies have not comprehensively optimized the performance of hybrid cloud task scheduling, even ignoring the conflicts between its security privacy features and other requirements. Based on the above problems, a many-objective hybrid cloud task scheduling optimization model (HCTSO) is constructed combining risk rate, resource utilization, total cost, and task completion time. Meanwhile, an opposition-based learning knee point-driven many-objective evolutionary… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 1723-1740, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.035141

Abstract The smart grid has enabled users to control their home energy more effectively and efficiently. A home energy management system (HEM) is a challenging task because this requires the most effective scheduling of intelligent home appliances to save energy. Here, we presented a meta-heuristic-based HEM system that integrates the Greywolf Algorithm (GWA) and Harmony Search Algorithms (HSA). Moreover, a fusion initiated on HSA and GWA operators is used to optimize energy intake. Furthermore, many knapsacks are being utilized to ensure that peak-hour load usage for electricity customers does not surpass a certain edge. Hybridization has proven beneficial in achieving numerous… More >

A Large-Scale Scheduling Method for Multiple Agile Optical Satellites

Zheng Liu*, Wei Xiong, Minghui Xiong

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1143-1163, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025452

Abstract This study investigates the scheduling problem of multiple agile optical satellites with large-scale tasks. This problem is difficult to solve owing to the time-dependent characteristic of agile optical satellites, complex constraints, and considerable solution space. To solve the problem, we propose a scheduling method based on an improved sine and cosine algorithm and a task merging approach. We first establish a scheduling model with task merging constraints and observation action constraints to describe the problem. Then, an improved sine and cosine algorithm is proposed to search for the optimal solution with the maximum profit ratio. An adaptive cosine factor and… More >

TRS Scheduling for Improved QoS Performance in Cloud System

    G. John Samuel Babu1, M. Baskar2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1547-1559, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033300

Abstract Numerous methods are analysed in detail to improve task scheduling and data security performance in the cloud environment. The methods involve scheduling according to the factors like makespan, waiting time, cost, deadline, and popularity. However, the methods are inappropriate for achieving higher scheduling performance. Regarding data security, existing methods use various encryption schemes but introduce significant service interruption. This article sketches a practical Real-time Application Centric TRS (Throughput-Resource utilization–Success) Scheduling with Data Security (RATRSDS) model by considering all these issues in task scheduling and data security. The method identifies the required resource and their claim time by receiving the service… More >

    Abdulaziz Alorf*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 273-286, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.035437

Abstract Nowadays, smart electricity grids are managed through advanced tools and techniques. The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and network technology helps to control the energy demand. These advanced technologies can resolve common issues such as blackouts, optimal energy generation costs, and peak-hours congestion. In this paper, the residential energy demand has been investigated and optimized to enhance the Quality of Service (QoS) to consumers. The energy consumption is distributed throughout the day to fulfill the demand in peak hours. Therefore, an Edge-Cloud computing-based model is proposed to schedule the energy demand with reward-based energy consumption. This model gives priority to… More >

    Abdulelah Alwabel*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 2217-2232, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.033703

Abstract The reliability and availability of cloud systems have become major concerns of service providers, brokers, and end-users. Therefore, studying fault-tolerance mechanisms in cloud computing attracts intense attention in industry and academia. The task-scheduling mechanisms can improve the fault-tolerance level of cloud systems. A task-scheduling mechanism distributes tasks to a group of instances to be executed. Much work has been undertaken in this direction to improve the overall outcome of cloud computing, such as improving service quality and reducing power consumption. However, little work on task scheduling has studied the problem of lost tasks from the broker’s perspective. Task loss can… More >
