Forced Dissociation of Selectin-ligand Complexes Using Steered Molecular Dynamics Simulation

    Shouqin Lü1, Mian Long1,2

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.2, No.4, pp. 161-178, 2005, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2005.002.161

Abstract Selectin-ligand interactions are crucial to such biological processes as inflammatory cascade or tumor metastasis. How transient formation and dissociation of selectin-ligand bonds in blood flow are coupled to molecular conformation at atomic level, however, has not been well understood. In this study, steered molecular dynamics (SMD) simulations were used to elucidate the intramolecular and intermolecular conformational evolutions involved in forced dissociation of three selectin-ligand systems: the construct consisting of P-selectin lectin (Lec) and epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains (P-LE) interacting with synthesized sulfoglycopeptide or SGP-3, P-LE with sialyl Lewis X (sLeX), and E-LE with sLeX. SMD simulations were based on… More >

Network Embedding-Based Anomalous Density Searching for Multi-Group Collaborative Fraudsters Detection in Social Media

    Chengzhang Zhu1, 2, Wentao Zhao2, *, Qian Li1, Pan Li2, Qiaobo Da3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.1, pp. 317-333, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05677

Abstract Detecting collaborative fraudsters who manipulate opinions in social media is becoming extremely important in order to provide reliable information, in which, however, the diversity in different groups of collaborative fraudsters presents a significant challenge to existing collaborative fraudsters detection methods. These methods often detect collaborative fraudsters as the largest group of users who have the strongest relation with each other in the social media, consequently overlooking the other groups of fraudsters that are with strong user relation yet small group size. This paper introduces a novel network embedding-based framework NEST and its instance BEST to address this issue. NEST detects… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.2, pp. 533-546, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05570

Abstract With the rapid development of the new generation of information technology, the analysis of mobile social network big data is getting deeper and deeper. At the same time, the risk of privacy disclosure in social network is also very obvious. In this paper, we summarize the main access control model in mobile social network, analyze their contribution and point out their disadvantages. On this basis, a practical privacy policy is defined through authorization model supporting personalized privacy preferences. Experiments have been conducted on synthetic data sets. The result shows that the proposed privacy protecting model could improve the security of… More >

An Influence Maximization Algorithm Based on the Mixed Importance of Nodes

    Yong Hua1, Bolun Chen1,2,*, Yan Yuan1, Guochang Zhu1, Jialin Ma1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.2, pp. 517-531, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05278

Abstract The influence maximization is the problem of finding k seed nodes that maximize the scope of influence in a social network. Therefore, the comprehensive influence of node needs to be considered, when we choose the most influential node set consisted of k seed nodes. On account of the traditional methods used to measure the influence of nodes, such as degree centrality, betweenness centrality and closeness centrality, consider only a single aspect of the influence of node, so the influence measured by traditional methods mentioned above of node is not accurate. In this paper, we obtain the following result through experimental… More >

Ab initio Molecular Dynamics of H2 Dissociative Adsorption on Graphene Surfaces

    Kentaro Doi1,2, Ikumi Onishi1, Satoyuki Kawano1,3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.77, No.2, pp. 113-136, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.077.113

Abstract Hydrogen technologies are currently one of the most actively researched topics. A lot of researches have tied to enhance their energy conversion efficiencies. In the present study, numerical analyses have been carried out focusing on hydrogen-storage carbon materials which are expected to realize high gravimetric and volumetric capacities. In particular, dissociative adsorption processes of H2 molecules above graphene surfaces have been investigated by ab initio molecular dynamics. The present results indicate that a steric graphene surface plays an important role in enhancing the charge transfer which induces dissociation of H2 and adsorption of H atoms on the surface. The dissociation… More >

Stable MFS Solution to Singular Direct and Inverse Problems Associated with the Laplace Equation Subjected to Noisy Data

    LiviuMarin 1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.37, No.3, pp. 203-242, 2008, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2008.037.203

Abstract In this paper, a meshless method for the stable solution of direct and inverse problems associated with the two-dimensional Laplace equation in the presence of boundary singularities and noisy boundary data is proposed. The governing equation and boundary conditions are discretized by the method of fundamental solutions (MFS), whilst the existence of the boundary singularity is taken into account by subtracting from the original MFS solution the corresponding singular solutions, as given by the asymptotic expansion of the solution near the singular point. However, even in the case when the boundary singularity is accounted for, the numerical solutions obtained by… More >

    Liviu Marin1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.48, No.2, pp. 121-154, 2009, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2009.048.121

Abstract We investigate the numerical implementation of the alternating iterative algorithm originally proposed by ` 12 ` 12 `$12 `&12 `#12 `^12 `_12 `%12 `~12 *Kozlov91 in the case of the Cauchy problem for the two-dimensional Laplace equation using a meshless method. The two mixed, well-posed and direct problems corresponding to every iteration of the numerical procedure are solved using the method of fundamental solutions (MFS), in conjunction with the Tikhonov regularization method. For each direct problem considered, the optimal value of the regularization parameter is chosen according to the generalized cross-validation (GCV) criterion. An efficient regularizing stopping criterion which ceases… More >

Tracking Features in Image Sequences with Kalman Filtering, Global Optimization, Mahalanobis Distance and a Management Model

    Raquel R. Pinho1, João Manuel R. S. Tavares1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 51-76, 2009, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2009.046.051

Abstract This work addresses the problem of tracking feature points along image sequences. In order to analyze the undergoing movement, an approach based on the Kalman filtering technique has been used, which basically carries out the estimation and correction of the features' movement in every image frame. So as to integrate the measurements obtained from each image into the Kalman filter, a data optimization process has been adopted to achieve the best global correspondence set. The proposed criterion minimizes the cost of global matching, which is based on the Mahalanobis distance. A management model is employed to manage the features being… More >

The Method of Fundamental Solutions for Inverse Problems Associated with the Steady-State Heat Conduction in the Presence of Sources

    Liviu Marin1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 99-122, 2008, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2008.030.099

Abstract The application of the method of fundamental solutions (MFS) to inverse boundary value problems associated with the steady-state heat conduction in isotropic media in the presence of sources, i.e. the Poisson equation, is investigated in this paper. Based on the approach of Alves and Chen (2005), these problems are solved in two steps, namely by finding first an approximate particular solution of the Poisson equation and then the numerical solution of the resulting inverse boundary value problem for the Laplace equation. The resulting MFS discretised system of equations is ill-conditioned and hence it is solved by employing the singular value… More >
