Research on Evacuation Path Planning Based on Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm

    Xiaoge Wei1,2,*, Yuming Zhang1,2, Huaitao Song1,2, Hengjie Qin1,2, Guanjun Zhao3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.2, pp. 1295-1316, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.045096

Abstract Reducing casualties and property losses through effective evacuation route planning has been a key focus for researchers in recent years. As part of this effort, an enhanced sparrow search algorithm (MSSA) was proposed. Firstly, the Golden Sine algorithm and a nonlinear weight factor optimization strategy were added in the discoverer position update stage of the SSA algorithm. Secondly, the Cauchy-Gaussian perturbation was applied to the optimal position of the SSA algorithm to improve its ability to jump out of local optima. Finally, the local search mechanism based on the mountain climbing method was incorporated into the local search stage of… More >

AI-Based UAV Swarms for Monitoring and Disease Identification of Brassica Plants Using Machine Learning: A Review

Zain Anwar Ali1,2,*, Dingnan Deng1, Muhammad Kashif Shaikh3, Raza Hasan4, Muhammad Aamir Khan2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.1, pp. 1-34, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.041866

Abstract Technological advances in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) pursued by artificial intelligence (AI) are improving remote sensing applications in smart agriculture. These are valuable tools for monitoring and disease identification of plants as they can collect data with no damage and effects on plants. However, their limited carrying and battery capacities restrict their performance in larger areas. Therefore, using multiple UAVs, especially in the form of a swarm is more significant for monitoring larger areas such as crop fields and forests. The diversity of research studies necessitates a literature review for more progress and contribution in the agricultural field. In this… More >

    Dissolution at a Meniscus-Adhered Nanofiber

    Shihao Tian1,2, Quanzi Yuan1,2,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09327

Abstract When one soluble fiber is partially merged into liquid, a meniscus forms and the fiber can be dissolved into one pinpoint with curvature. This process has been used in the manufacture of sophisticated pinpoints. However, it is hard to observe the dissolution process in the laboratory and the dissolution mechanisms are still far from being well understood in the nanoscale. Here we utilize molecular dynamics simulations to study the dissolution process of one meniscus-adhered nanofiber. We find that the tip’s curvature radius decreases and then increases, reaching the maximum in the middle state. This state is defined as the “Sh… More >

Numerical Simulation of Droplet Generation in Coaxial Microchannels

Zongjun Yin*, Rong Su, Hui Xu

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.3, pp. 487-504, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.042631

Abstract In this study, numerical simulations of the pinching-off phenomena displayed by the dispersed phase in a continuous phase have been conducted using COMSOL Multiphysics (level-set method). Four flow patterns, namely “drop flow”, “jet flow”, “squeeze flow”, and “co-flow”, have been obtained for different flow velocity ratios, channel diameter ratios, density ratios, viscosity ratios, and surface tension. The flow pattern map of two-phase flow in coaxial microchannels has been obtained accordingly, and the associated droplet generation process has been critically discussed considering the related frequency, diameter, and pinch-off length. In particular, it is shown that the larger the flow velocity ratio,… More > Graphic Abstract

Bearing Fault Diagnosis with DDCNN Based on Intelligent Feature Fusion Strategy in Strong Noise

    Chaoqian He1,2, Runfang Hao1,2,*, Kun Yang1,2, Zhongyun Yuan1,2, Shengbo Sang1,2, Xiaorui Wang1,2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3423-3442, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.045718

Abstract Intelligent fault diagnosis in modern mechanical equipment maintenance is increasingly adopting deep learning technology. However, conventional bearing fault diagnosis models often suffer from low accuracy and unstable performance in noisy environments due to their reliance on a single input data. Therefore, this paper proposes a dual-channel convolutional neural network (DDCNN) model that leverages dual data inputs. The DDCNN model introduces two key improvements. Firstly, one of the channels substitutes its convolution with a larger kernel, simplifying the structure while addressing the lack of global information and shallow features. Secondly, the feature layer combines data from different sensors based on their… More >

Enhancing Breast Cancer Diagnosis with Channel-Wise Attention Mechanisms in Deep Learning

Muhammad Mumtaz Ali, Faiqa Maqsood, Shiqi Liu, Weiyan Hou, Liying Zhang, Zhenfei Wang*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 2699-2714, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.045310

Abstract Breast cancer, particularly Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC), is a primary global health concern predominantly affecting women. Early and precise diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment planning. Several AI-based techniques for IDC-level classification have been proposed in recent years. Processing speed, memory size, and accuracy can still be improved for better performance. Our study presents ECAM, an Enhanced Channel-Wise Attention Mechanism, using deep learning to analyze histopathological images of Breast Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (BIDC). The main objectives of our study are to enhance computational efficiency using a Separable CNN architecture, improve data representation through hierarchical feature aggregation, and increase accuracy and… More >

An Improved Multi-Objective Hybrid Genetic-Simulated Annealing Algorithm for AGV Scheduling under Composite Operation Mode

    Jiamin Xiang1, Ying Zhang1, Xiaohua Cao1,*, Zhigang Zhou2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3443-3466, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.045120

Abstract This paper presents an improved hybrid algorithm and a multi-objective model to tackle the scheduling problem of multiple Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) under the composite operation mode. The multi-objective model aims to minimize the maximum completion time, the total distance covered by AGVs, and the distance traveled while empty-loaded. The improved hybrid algorithm combines the improved genetic algorithm (GA) and the simulated annealing algorithm (SA) to strengthen the local search ability of the algorithm and improve the stability of the calculation results. Based on the characteristics of the composite operation mode, the authors introduce the combined coding and parallel decoding… More >
