Hybrid Deep Learning Architecture to Forecast Maximum Load Duration Using Time-of-Use Pricing Plans

    Jinseok Kim1, Babar Shah2, Ki-Il Kim3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 283-301, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016042

Abstract Load forecasting has received crucial research attention to reduce peak load and contribute to the stability of power grid using machine learning or deep learning models. Especially, we need the adequate model to forecast the maximum load duration based on time-of-use, which is the electricity usage fare policy in order to achieve the goals such as peak load reduction in a power grid. However, the existing single machine learning or deep learning forecasting cannot easily avoid overfitting. Moreover, a majority of the ensemble or hybrid models do not achieve optimal results for forecasting the maximum load duration based on time-of-use.… More >

    Thavavel Vaiyapuri*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 487-503, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015998

Abstract The era of the Internet of things (IoT) has marked a continued exploration of applications and services that can make people’s lives more convenient than ever before. However, the exploration of IoT services also means that people face unprecedented difficulties in spontaneously selecting the most appropriate services. Thus, there is a paramount need for a recommendation system that can help improve the experience of the users of IoT services to ensure the best quality of service. Most of the existing techniques—including collaborative filtering (CF), which is most widely adopted when building recommendation systems—suffer from rating sparsity and cold-start problems, preventing… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 3887-3906, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016076

Abstract Recently, Internet of Things (IoT) technology has provided logistics services to many disciplines such as agriculture, industry, and medicine. Thus, it has become one of the most important scientific research fields. Applying IoT to military domain has many challenges such as fault tolerance and QoS. In this paper, IoT technology is applied on the military field to create an Internet of Military Things (IoMT) system. Here, the architecture of the aforementioned IoMT system is proposed. This architecture consists of four main layers: Communication, information, application, and decision support. These layers provided a fault tolerant coverage communication system for IoMT things.… More >

    Muhammad Waqas Nadeem1,2, Hock Guan Goh1,*, Muhammad Adnan Khan3, Muzammil Hussain4, Muhammad Faheem Mushtaq5, Vasaki a/p Ponnusamy1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 2481-2496, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014649

Abstract The contemporary evolution in healthcare technologies plays a considerable and significant role to improve medical services and save human lives. Heart disease or cardiovascular disease is the most fatal and complex disease which it is hardly to be detected through our naked eyes, as numerous people have been suffering from this disease globally. Heart attacks occur when the ranges of vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, and body temperature exceed their normal values. The efficient diagnosis of heart diseases could play a substantial role in the field of cardiology, while diagnostic time could be reduced. It has been… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1645-1663, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014225

Abstract At the international level, a major effort is being made to optimize the flow of data and information for health systems management. The studies show that medical and economic efficiency is strongly influenced by the level of development and complexity of implementing an integrated system of epidemiological monitoring and modeling. The solution proposed and described in this paper is addressed to all public and private institutions involved in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, using recognized methods and standards in this field. The Green-Epidemio is a platform adaptable to the specific features of any public institution for disease management, based… More >

An Online Chronic Disease Prediction System Based on Incremental Deep Neural Network

    Bin Yang1,*, Lingyun Xiang2, Xianyi Chen3, Wenjing Jia4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 951-964, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014839

Abstract Many chronic disease prediction methods have been proposed to predict or evaluate diabetes through artificial neural network. However, due to the complexity of the human body, there are still many challenges to face in that process. One of them is how to make the neural network prediction model continuously adapt and learn disease data of different patients, online. This paper presents a novel chronic disease prediction system based on an incremental deep neural network. The propensity of users suffering from chronic diseases can continuously be evaluated in an incremental manner. With time, the system can predict diabetes more and more… More >

Asadullah Shaikh*, Mana Saleh AlReshan, Yousef Asiri, Adel Sulaiman, Hani Alshahrani

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 549-576, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014813

Abstract In Wuhan, China, a novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) was detected in December 2019; it has changed the entire world and to date, the number of diagnosed cases is 38,756,2891 and 1,095,2161 people have died. This happened because a large number of people got affected and there is a lack of hospitals for COVID-19 patients. One of the precautionary measures for COVID-19 patients is isolation. To support this, there is an urgent need for a platform that makes treatment possible from a distance. Telemedicine systems have been drastically increasing in number and size over recent years. This increasing number intensifies the… More >
