    Chunyan Zhang1, Shuaishuai Wang1,2, Yinhu Qiao1,*, Zhiqiang Zhang1,2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2661-2679, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.028059

Abstract Numerical simulations are conducted to improve the energy acquisition efficiency of H-type vertical axis wind turbines through the optimization of the related blade airfoil aerodynamic performance. The Bézier curve is initially used to fit the curve profile of a NACA2412 airfoil, and the moving asymptote algorithm is then exploited to optimize the design of the considered H-type vertical-axis wind-turbine blade airfoil for a certain attack angle. The results show that the maximum lift coefficient of the optimized airfoil is 8.33% higher than that of the original airfoil. The maximum lift-to-drag ratio of the optimized airfoil exceeds the maximum lift-to-drag ratio… More > Graphic Abstract

    Xudong Wang1,2, Xueshuai Qin1, Huiyan Zhang2,*, Luis Ismael Minchala3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 385-400, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.036633

Abstract Unmanned vehicles are currently facing many difficulties and challenges in improving safety performance when running in complex urban road traffic environments, such as low intelligence and poor comfort performance in the driving process. The real-time performance of vehicles and the comfort requirements of passengers in path planning and tracking control of unmanned vehicles have attracted more and more attentions. In this paper, in order to improve the real-time performance of the autonomous vehicle planning module and the comfort requirements of passengers that a local granular-based path planning method and tracking control based on multi-segment Bezier curve splicing and model predictive… More >

A Novel Contour Tracing Algorithm for Object Shape Reconstruction Using Parametric Curves

    Nihat Arslan1, Kali Gurkahraman2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 331-350, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035087

Abstract Parametric curves such as Bézier and B-splines, originally developed for the design of automobile bodies, are now also used in image processing and computer vision. For example, reconstructing an object shape in an image, including different translations, scales, and orientations, can be performed using these parametric curves. For this, Bézier and B-spline curves can be generated using a point set that belongs to the outer boundary of the object. The resulting object shape can be used in computer vision fields, such as searching and segmentation methods and training machine learning algorithms. The prerequisite for reconstructing the shape with parametric curves… More >

A Real-time Cutting Model Based on Finite Element and Order Reduction

    Xiaorui Zhang1,2,*, Wenzheng Zhang2, Wei Sun3, Hailun Wu2, Aiguo Song4, Sunil Kumar Jha5

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.1, pp. 1-15, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.024950

Abstract Telemedicine plays an important role in Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The virtual surgery simulation system, as a key component in telemedicine, requires to compute in real-time. Therefore, this paper proposes a real-time cutting model based on finite element and order reduction method, which improves the computational speed and ensure the real-time performance. The proposed model uses the finite element model to construct a deformation model of the virtual lung. Meanwhile, a model order reduction method combining proper orthogonal decomposition and Galerkin projection is employed to reduce the amount of deformation computation. In addition, the cutting path is formed according… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.2, pp. 595-609, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020835

Abstract This work demonstrates in practical terms the evolutionary concepts and computational applications of Parametric Curves. Specific cases were drawn from higher order parametric Bezier curves of degrees 2 and above. Bezier curves find real life applications in diverse areas of Engineering and Computer Science, such as computer graphics, robotics, animations, virtual reality, among others. Some of the evolutionary issues explored in this work are in the areas of parametric equations derivations, proof of related theorems, first and second order calculus related computations, among others. A Practical case is demonstrated using a graphical design, physical hand sketching, and programmatic implementation of… More >

A Hybrid Path Planning Method Based on Articulated Vehicle Model

    Zhongping Chen1, Dong Wang1, *, Gang Chen2, Yanxi Ren3, Danjie Du4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1781-1793, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010902

Abstract Due to the unique steering mechanism and driving characteristics of the articulated vehicle, a hybrid path planning method based on the articulated vehicle model is proposed to meet the demand of obstacle avoidance and searching the path back and forth of the articulated vehicle. First, Support Vector Machine (SVM) theory is used to obtain the two-dimensional optimal zero potential curve and the maximum margin, and then, several key points are selected from the optimal zero potential curves by using Longest Accessible Path (LAP) method. Next, the Cubic Bezier (CB) curve is adopted to connect the curve that satisfies the curvature… More >
