Structural Behavior Analysis on a Small-scale PCHE Prototype under High-temperature Gas Loop Conditions

    K.N. Song1

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.7, No.4, pp. 297-306, 2011, DOI:10.3970/sdhm.2011.007.297

Abstract The IHX (Intermediate Heat Exchanger) of a VHTR (Very High Temperature Reactor) transfers 950° heat generated from the VHTR to a hydrogen production plant. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has manufactured a small-scale prototype of a PCHE (Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger) under consideration as a candidate of the IHX. In this study, as a part of high-temperature structural integrity evaluation of the small-scale PCHE prototype, we carried out a macroscopic structural behavior analysis including structural analysis modeling and thermal/elastic structural analysis under small-scale gas loop test conditions as a precedent study to a performance test. The results obtained… More >

Numerical solution for the elastic-large deflection behavior analysis of rectangular plates under combined loads and non-uniform lateral pressure using Galerkin method

Ju Hye Park, Jeom Kee Paik, S.N. Atluri

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.19, No.3, pp. 69-70, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.019.069

Abstract The aim of the present paper is to develop a semi-analytical method which and quickly and accurately compute the ultimate strength response of rectangular plates under combined loads and non-uniform lateral pressure. It is assumed that the plating is simply supported at four edges which are kept straight. A unique feature of developed method was found to give reasonably accurate results for practical design purpose in terms of the large deflection analysis of plates under non uniformed lateral pressure. The present paper treated by analytically solving the nonlinear governing differential equations of the elastic large deflection plate theory. It will… More >

Analysis of Bus Ride Comfort Using Smartphone Sensor Data

    Hoong-Chor Chin1, Xingting Pang1, Zhaoxia Wang2,3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.2, pp. 455-463, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05664

Abstract Passenger comfort is an important indicator that is often used to measure the quality of public transport services. It may also be a crucial factor in the passenger’s choice of transport mode. The typical method of assessing passenger comfort is through a passenger interview survey which can be tedious. This study aims to investigate the relationship between bus ride comfort based on ride smoothness and the vehicle’s motion detected by the smartphone sensors. An experiment was carried out on a bus fixed route within the University campus where comfort levels were rated on a 3-point scale and recorded at 5-second… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.3, pp. 1109-1122, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06252

Abstract Violation probability of taxi drivers in metropolis is far more than that of normal drivers because they are labor-intensive, overconfident of self-driving skill, and always searching potential customers, sometimes even picking up or dropping off passengers randomly. In this paper, four types of violated behavior of taxi drivers in metropolis were first summarized, based on which corresponding scale table was initial designed with social statistical method. Furthermore, with certain samples, relative item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, validity analysis and reliability analysis were conducted to verify validity of the initial scale table, based on which some improvements were made, and we… More >
