    Chandrashekhar Meshram1,*, Agbotiname Lucky Imoize2,3, Sajjad Shaukat Jamal4, Amer Aljaedi5, Adel R. Alharbi5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 4591-4608, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.022642

Abstract The commercialization of the fifth-generation (5G) wireless network has begun. Massive devices are being integrated into 5G-enabled wireless sensor networks (5G WSNs) to deliver a variety of valuable services to network users. However, there are rising fears that 5G WSNs will expose sensitive user data to new security vulnerabilities. For secure end-to-end communication, key agreement and user authentication have been proposed. However, when billions of massive devices are networked to collect and analyze complex user data, more stringent security approaches are required. Data integrity, non-repudiation, and authentication necessitate special-purpose subtree-based signature mechanisms that are pretty difficult to create in practice.… More >

Abstract Wireless sensor network (WSN) is an emerging technology which find useful in several application areas such as healthcare, environmental monitoring, border surveillance, etc. Several issues that exist in the designing of WSN are node localization, coverage, energy efficiency, security, and so on. In spite of the issues, node localization is considered an important issue, which intends to calculate the coordinate points of unknown nodes with the assistance of anchors. The efficiency of the WSN can be considerably influenced by the node localization accuracy. Therefore, this paper presents a modified search and rescue optimization based node localization technique (MSRO-NLT) for WSN.… More >

    Orawit Thinnukool1, Thammarat Panityakul2, Mahwish Bano3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 3033-3046, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.019153

Abstract In the most recent decades, a major number of image encryption plans have been proposed. The vast majority of these plans reached a high-security level; however, their moderate speeds because of their complicated processes made them of no use in real-time applications. Inspired by this, we propose another efficient and rapid image encryption plan dependent on the Trigonometric chaotic guide. In contrast to the most of current plans, we utilize this basic map to create just a couple of arbitrary rows and columns. Moreover, to additionally speed up, we raise the processing unit from the pixel level to the row/column… More >

    Osama M. Abu Zaid1,*, Medhat A. Tawfeek2,3, Saad Alanazi2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 3161-3176, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015175

Abstract This research presents, and clarifies the application of two permutation algorithms, based on chaotic map systems, and applied to a file of speech signals. They are the Arnold cat map-based permutation algorithm, and the Baker’s chaotic map-based permutation algorithm. Both algorithms are implemented on the same speech signal sample. Then, both the premier and the encrypted file histograms are documented and plotted. The speech signal amplitude values with time signals of the original file are recorded and plotted against the encrypted and decrypted files. Furthermore, the original file is plotted against the encrypted file, using the spectrogram frequencies of speech… More >

Non-Associative Algebra Redesigning Block Cipher with Color Image Encryption

    Nazli Sanam1,*, Asif Ali1, Tariq Shah1, Ghazanfar Farooq2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 1-21, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014442

Abstract The substitution box (S-box) is a fundamentally important component of symmetric key cryptosystem. An S-box is a primary source of non-linearity in modern block ciphers, and it resists the linear attack. Various approaches have been adopted to construct S-boxes. S-boxes are commonly constructed over commutative and associative algebraic structures including Galois fields, unitary commutative rings and cyclic and non-cyclic finite groups. In this paper, first a non-associative ring of order 512 is obtained by using computational techniques, and then by this ring a triplet of 8 × 8 S-boxes is designed. The motivation behind the designing of these S-boxes is… More >

    Hybrid Multimodal Biometric Template Protection

    Naima Bousnina1, Sanaa Ghouzali2,*, Mounia Mikram1,3, Maryam Lafkih1, Ohoud Nafea4, Muna Al-Razgan2, Wadood Abdul4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 35-51, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.014694

Abstract Biometric template disclosure starts gaining an important concern in deploying practical biometric authentication systems, where an assailant compromises the database for illegitimate access. To protect biometric templates from disclosure attacks, biometric authentication systems should meet these four requirements: security, diversity, revocability, and performance. Different methods have been suggested in the literature such as feature transformation techniques and biometric cryptosystems. However, no single method could satisfy the four requirements, giving rise to the deployment of hybrid mechanisms. In this context, the current paper proposes a hybrid system for multimodal biometric template protection to provide robustness against template database attacks. Herein, a… More >

Particle Swarm Optimization with Chaos-based Initialization for Numerical Optimization

    Dongping Tiana,b

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 331-342, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1293881

Abstract Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a population based swarm intelligence algorithm that has been deeply studied and widely applied to a variety of problems. However, it is easily trapped into the local optima and premature convergence appears when solving complex multimodal problems. To address these issues, we present a new particle swarm optimization by introducing chaotic maps (Tent and Logistic) and Gaussian mutation mechanism as well as a local re-initialization strategy into the standard PSO algorithm. On one hand, the chaotic map is utilized to generate uniformly distributed particles to improve the quality of the initial population. On the other… More >

Abstract In order to solve the problem of patient information security protection in medical images, whilst also taking into consideration the unchangeable particularity of medical images to the lesion area and the need for medical images themselves to be protected, a novel robust watermarking algorithm for encrypted medical images based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform and discrete cosine transform (DTCWT-DCT) and chaotic map is proposed in this paper. First, DTCWT-DCT transformation was performed on medical images, and dot product was per-formed in relation to the transformation matrix and logistic map. Inverse transformation was undertaken to obtain encrypted medical images. Then, in… More >

Cryptanalysis and Improvement of a Chaotic Map-Control-Based and the Plain Image-Related Cryptosystem

    Bin Lu1, Fenlin Liu1, Xin Ge1,*, Zhenyu Li2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.2, pp. 687-699, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05633

Abstract Due to the characteristics of chaotic systems, different cryptosystems based on chaos have been proposed to satisfy the security of multimedia data. A plain image-related chaotic algorithm is proposed by Luo et al. with high speed and efficiency. Security weaknesses of the cryptosystem are studied in this paper. It is found that the important secret key information is leaked because an important parameter can be obtained after an inverse operation in the last step of the cryptosystems without secret key. Meanwhile, the value zero is processed improperly in quantification algorithm. Based on the weaknesses, chosen plaintext attack on the cryptosystem… More >

    N. Jayashree1,*, R. S. Bhuvaneswaran1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.58, No.1, pp. 263-285, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.03924

Abstract Watermarking is a widely used solution to the problems of authentication and copyright protection of digital media especially for images, videos, and audio data. Chaos is one of the emerging techniques adopted in image watermarking schemes due to its intrinsic cryptographic properties. This paper proposes a new chaotic hybrid watermarking method combining Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Z-transform (ZT) and Bidiagonal Singular Value Decomposition (BSVD). The original image is decomposed into 3-level DWT, and then, ZT is applied on the HH3 and HL3 sub-bands. The watermark image is encrypted using Arnold Cat Map. BSVD for the watermark and transformed original image… More >
