    Naphol Yoobanpot1,*, Prakasit Sokrai2, Natt Makul2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.11, pp. 2033-2049, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.015849 - 04 June 2021

Abstract According to empirical evidence, high levels of energy and considerable amounts of natural resources are used in the production of concrete. Given the context, this study explores self-consolidating concrete (SCC) that includes rice husk ash (RHA) and metal furnace slag (MFS) as an alternative to cement and the natural aggregates in standard SCC mixes. In this study, mixture designs are investigated with 20 wt.% of RHA, 10–30 wt.% of MFS and water-to-powder material ratios of 0.30 and 0.40. Based on the findings regarding the fresh-state, hardened-state, and durability properties of the resulting SCC mixes, it More >

The eight operation strategies include FEL, FEL-EC, FEL-TES, FEL-TES&EC, FTL, FTL-EC, FTL-TES, and FTL-TES&EC. The feasibility of each strategy is verified by taking a residential building cluster as an… More >

    Quanbin Ba1,2, Yanbao Liu1,2,*, Zhigang Zhang1,2, Wei Xiong1,2, Kai Shen1,2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 697-710, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.014762 - 17 May 2021

Abstract The characteristics of the flow field associated with a multi-hole combined external rotary bit have been studied by means of numerical simulation in the framework of an RNG k-ε turbulence model, and compared with the results of dedicated rock breaking drilling experiments. The numerical results show that the nozzle velocity and dynamic pressure of the nozzle decrease with an increase in the jet distance, and the axial velocity of the nozzle decays regularly with an increase in the dimensionless jet distance. Moreover, the axial velocity related to the nozzle with inclination angle 20° and 30° can More >

    Benan Shu1,*, Lixian Guo1, Bing Qiu1, Tengyu Yang1, Tao Sun1, Wenjun Qiu1, Min Zhou1, Putao Song2, Yuanyuan Li3, Diego Maria Barbieri4, Shaopeng Wu5,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.10, pp. 1781-1794, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.015659 - 12 May 2021

Abstract As an innovative maintenance technology of asphalt pavement, encapsulated rejuvenator used to improve its self-healing performance has been widely investigated by researchers in recent years. In this work, the selfhealing properties of asphalt mixture with and without encapsulations were comparatively studied considering these parameters: Healing time, healing cycles and microwave heating. Three-point bending strength recovery test and fatigue loading cycles recovery test were conducted for two kinds of encapsulations containing the healing agents present inside the asphalt mixture, namely compartmented Ca-alginate/SiO2 fiber and compartmented Ca-alginate/graphene oxide fiber. The results showed that the optimum healing time… More >

Phase Error Compensation of Three-Dimensional Reconstruction Combined with Hilbert Transform

    Tao Zhang1,*, Jie Shen1, Shaoen Wu2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3121-3131, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016362 - 06 May 2021

Abstract Nonlinear response is an important factor affecting the accuracy of three-dimensional image measurement based on the fringe structured light method. A phase compensation algorithm combined with a Hilbert transform is proposed to reduce the phase error caused by the nonlinear response of a digital projector in the three-dimensional measurement system of fringe structured light. According to the analysis of the influence of Gamma distortion on the phase calculation, the algorithm establishes the relationship model between phase error and harmonic coefficient, introduces phase shift to the signal, and keeps the signal amplitude constant while filtering out… More >

A Combined Numerical-Experimental Study on the Noise Power Spectrum Produced by an Electromagnetic Sensor for Slurry Flow

    Song Gao1,*, Xin Jin1, Qiaohong Liu2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 511-529, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.012741 - 29 April 2021

Abstract The signals generated by electromagnetic flow sensors used for slurry fluids are often affected by noise interference produced by interaction with the slurry itself. In this study, the power spectrum characteristics of the signal are studied, and an attempt is made to determine the relationship between the characteristics of the related noise and the velocity and concentration of the slurry fluid. Dedicated experiments are conducted and the related power spectrum curve is obtained processing the signal measured by the sensor with Matlab. Numerical simulations are also carried out in the frame of an Eulerian approach More >

    T. Jayasree1,*, S.Emerald Shia2

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.55, No.2, pp. 141-161, 2021, DOI:10.32604/sv.2021.011734 - 21 April 2021

Abstract This paper presents the pathological voice detection and classification techniques using signal processing based methodologies and Feed Forward Neural Networks (FFNN). The important pathological voices such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Down Syndrome (DS) are considered for analysis. These pathological voices are known to manifest in different ways in the speech of children and adults. Therefore, it is possible to discriminate ASD and DS children from normal ones using the acoustic features extracted from the speech of these subjects. The important attributes hidden in the pathological voices are extracted by applying different signal processing More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.2, pp. 645-681, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015894 - 19 April 2021

Abstract A combined shape and topology optimization algorithm based on isogeometric boundary element method for 3D acoustics is developed in this study. The key treatment involves using adjoint variable method in shape sensitivity analysis with respect to non-uniform rational basis splines control points, and in topology sensitivity analysis with respect to the artificial densities of sound absorption material. OpenMP tool in Fortran code is adopted to improve the efficiency of analysis. To consider the features and efficiencies of the two types of optimization methods, this study adopts a combined iteration scheme for the optimization process to More >

    Tianyu Liu1, Chang Wen1,2,3,*, Wenyu Wang1, Kai Yan3, Yongjun Xia4, Rui Li3, Juan Liu4, Yang Zhang1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.3, pp. 473-485, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014870 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Pretreatment before biomass combustion is significant for its efficient utilization and that combined water washing and carbonization can be efficient. An agricultural processing residues sesame stalk was selected and carried out two pretreatments separately, i.e., water washing-torrefaction (W-T) and torrefaction-water washing (T-W), to explore the effect on the fuel properties, combustion characteristics and particulate matter (PM) emission. The obtained biochar was also combusted under air and oxy50 (CO2:O2 = 50:50) conditions for the sake of investigating the effect of pretreatment and combustion atmosphere. The results indicate that, W-T and T-W both not only have great effect… More >

Abstract Ohrid trout (Salamo letnica) is an endemic species of fish found in Lake Ohrid in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). The growth of Ohrid trout was examined in a controlled environment for a certain period, thereafter released into the lake to grow their natural population. The external features of the fish were measured regularly during the cultivation period in the laboratory to monitor their growth. The data mining methods-based computational model can be used for fast, accurate, reliable, automatic, and improved growth monitoring procedures and classification of Ohrid trout. With this motivation, a combined… More >
