    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 4447-4466, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020775

Abstract Recently, Multicore systems use Dynamic Voltage/Frequency Scaling (DV/FS) technology to allow the cores to operate with various voltage and/or frequencies than other cores to save power and enhance the performance. In this paper, an effective and reliable hybrid model to reduce the energy and makespan in multicore systems is proposed. The proposed hybrid model enhances and integrates the greedy approach with dynamic programming to achieve optimal Voltage/Frequency (Vmin/F) levels. Then, the allocation process is applied based on the available workloads. The hybrid model consists of three stages. The first stage gets the optimum safe voltage while the second stage sets… More >

    Allam Abumwais1,*, Adil Amirjanov1, Kaan Uyar1, Mujahed Eleyat2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 4583-4597, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020529

Abstract Multicore systems oftentimes use multiple levels of cache to bridge the gap between processor and memory speed. This paper presents a new design of a dedicated pipeline cache memory for multicore processors called dual port content addressable memory (DPCAM). In addition, it proposes a new replacement algorithm based on hardware which is called a near-far access replacement algorithm (NFRA) to reduce the cost overhead of the cache controller and improve the cache access latency. The experimental results indicated that the latency for write and read operations are significantly less in comparison with a set-associative cache memory. Moreover, it was shown… More >

    Jamil Ahmed1, Majed G. Alharbi2, Muhammad Akram3,*, Shahida Bashir1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.2, pp. 881-906, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.017222

Abstract A bipolar single-valued neutrosophic set can deal with the hesitation relevant to the information of any decision making problem in real life scenarios, where bipolar fuzzy sets may fail to handle those hesitation problems. In this study, we first develop a new method for solving linear programming problems based on bipolar singlevalued neutrosophic sets. Further, we apply the score function to transform bipolar single-valued neutrosophic problems into crisp linear programming problems. Moreover, we apply the proposed technique to solve fully bipolar single-valued neutrosophic linear programming problems with non-negative triangular bipolar single-valued neutrosophic numbers (TBSvNNs) and non-negative trapezoidal bipolar single-valued neutrosophic… More >

    K. Sathis Kumar1,*, K. Paramasivam2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.1, pp. 209-224, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.019531

Abstract The performance of central processing units (CPUs) can be enhanced by integrating multiple cores into a single chip. Cpu performance can be improved by allocating the tasks using intelligent strategy. If Small tasks wait for long time or executes for long time, then CPU consumes more power. Thus, the amount of power consumed by CPUs can be reduced without increasing the frequency. Lines are used to connect cores, which are organized together to form a network called network on chips (NOCs). NOCs are mainly used in the design of processors. However, its performance can still be enhanced by reducing power… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 403-418, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.018560

Abstract Due to the rapid growth of embedded devices, the selection of System-on-Chip (SoC) has a stronger influence to enable hardware security in embedded system design. System-on-chip (SoC) devices consist of one or more CPUs through wide-ranging inbuilt peripherals for designing a system with less cost. The selection of SoC is more significant to determine the suitability for secured application development. The design space analysis of symmetric key approaches including rivest cipher (RC5), advanced encryption standard (AES), data encryption standard (DES), international data encryption algorithm (IDEA), elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), MX algorithm, and the secure hash algorithm (SHA-256) are compared to… More >

Implementing Delay Multiply and Sum Beamformer on a Hybrid CPU-GPU Platform for Medical Ultrasound Imaging Using OpenMP and CUDA

    Ke Song1,*, Paul Liu2, Dongquan Liu3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.3, pp. 1133-1150, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016008

Abstract A novel beamforming algorithm named Delay Multiply and Sum (DMAS), which excels at enhancing the resolution and contrast of ultrasonic image, has recently been proposed. However, there are nested loops in this algorithm, so the calculation complexity is higher compared to the Delay and Sum (DAS) beamformer which is widely used in industry. Thus, we proposed a simple vector-based method to lower its complexity. The key point is to transform the nested loops into several vector operations, which can be efficiently implemented on many parallel platforms, such as Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), and multi-core Central Processing Units (CPUs). Consequently, we… More >
