A Double-Interactively Recurrent Fuzzy Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller Model Combined with an Improved Particle Swarm Optimization Method for Fall Detection

    Jyun-Guo Wang*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.5, pp. 1149-1170, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2024.052931 - 13 September 2024

Abstract In many Eastern and Western countries, falling birth rates have led to the gradual aging of society. Older adults are often left alone at home or live in a long-term care center, which results in them being susceptible to unsafe events (such as falls) that can have disastrous consequences. However, automatically detecting falls from video data is challenging, and automatic fall detection methods usually require large volumes of training data, which can be difficult to acquire. To address this problem, video kinematic data can be used as training data, thereby avoiding the requirement of creating… More >

    P. K. A. Chitra1, S. Appavu alias Balamurugan2, S. Geetha3, Seifedine Kadry4,5,6, Jungeun Kim7,*, Keejun Han8

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.5, pp. 1367-1385, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034373 - 13 September 2024

Abstract A generalization of supervised single-label learning based on the assumption that each sample in a dataset may belong to more than one class simultaneously is called multi-label learning. The main objective of this work is to create a novel framework for learning and classifying imbalanced multi-label data. This work proposes a framework of two phases. The imbalanced distribution of the multi-label dataset is addressed through the proposed Borderline MLSMOTE resampling method in phase 1. Later, an adaptive weighted l21 norm regularized (Elastic-net) multi-label logistic regression is used to predict unseen samples in phase 2. The proposed… More >

Abstract In recent years, wearable devices-based Human Activity Recognition (HAR) models have received significant attention. Previously developed HAR models use hand-crafted features to recognize human activities, leading to the extraction of basic features. The images captured by wearable sensors contain advanced features, allowing them to be analyzed by deep learning algorithms to enhance the detection and recognition of human actions. Poor lighting and limited sensor capabilities can impact data quality, making the recognition of human actions a challenging task. The unimodal-based HAR approaches are not suitable in a real-time environment. Therefore, an updated HAR model is… More >

Abstract Phishing attacks present a persistent and evolving threat in the cybersecurity land-scape, necessitating the development of more sophisticated detection methods. Traditional machine learning approaches to phishing detection have relied heavily on feature engineering and have often fallen short in adapting to the dynamically changing patterns of phishing Uniform Resource Locator (URLs). Addressing these challenge, we introduce a framework that integrates the sequential data processing strengths of a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) with the hyperparameter optimization prowess of the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). Our model capitalizes on an extensive Kaggle dataset, featuring over 11,000 URLs, each More >

Stackelberg Game-Based Optimal Dispatch for PEDF Park and Power Grid Interaction under Multiple Incentive Mechanisms

    Weidong Chen1,2,*, Yun Zhao3, Xiaorui Wu1,2, Ziwen Cai3, Min Guo1,2, Yuxin Lu3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.10, pp. 3075-3093, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.051404 - 11 September 2024

Abstract The integration of photovoltaic, energy storage, direct current, and flexible load (PEDF) technologies in building power systems is an important means to address the energy crisis and promote the development of green buildings. The friendly interaction between the PEDF systems and the power grid can promote the utilization of renewable energy and enhance the stability of the power grid. For this purpose, this work introduces a framework of multiple incentive mechanisms for a PEDF park, a building energy system that implements PEDF technologies. The incentive mechanisms proposed in this paper include both economic and noneconomic… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.9, pp. 1407-1422, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.049181 - 23 August 2024

Abstract Objectives: Treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) includes resection of liver metastases (LM), however, no validated biomarker identifies patients most likely to benefit from this procedure. This meta-analysis aimed to assess the impact of the most relevant molecular alterations in cancer-related genes of CRC (i.e., RAS, BRAF, SMAD4, PIK3CA) as prognostic markers of survival and disease recurrence in patients with mCRC surgically treated by LM resection. Methods: A systematic literature review was performed to identify studies reporting data regarding survival and/or recurrence in patients that underwent complete liver resection for CRC LM, stratified according to… More > Graphic Abstract

Partitioning Calculation Method of Short-Circuit Current for High Proportion DG Access to Distribution Network

    Wei Wang1, Qingzhu Shao1, Shaoliang Wang2,*, Yiwei Zhao2, Yuanbo Ye1, Duanchao Li1, Mengyu Wu2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.9, pp. 2569-2584, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.051409 - 19 August 2024

Abstract Aiming at the problem that the traditional short-circuit current calculation method is not applicable to Distributed Generation (DG) accessing the distribution network, the paper proposes a short-circuit current partitioning calculation method considering the degree of voltage drop at the grid-connected point of DG. Firstly, the output characteristics of DG in the process of low voltage ride through are analyzed, and the equivalent output model of DG in the fault state is obtained. Secondly, by studying the network voltage distribution law after fault in distribution networks under different DG penetration rates, the degree of voltage drop… More >

Numerical Simulation of Wet Particles Motion in a Vertical Powder Dryer

Long Yu, Dongdong Pang*, Minmin She, Hongwei Qiu, Ping Cao, Xiongwei You

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.8, pp. 1823-1846, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.048093 - 06 August 2024

Abstract In this study, the motion of wet particles in the drying unit of a vertical powder dryer is investigated by using a Discrete element method (DEM) coupled with a liquid bridge force. In particular, by varying parameters such as the particle mass flow rates, the superficial gas velocities, and superficial gas temperatures, the influence of the moisture content on the flow behavior is examined. The results show that when the moisture content increases, the mean particle velocity decreases while the bed mean solid “holdup” and the mean residence time (MRT) of particles grow. Experimental Investigation of Wave–Current Loads on a Bridge Shuttle-Shaped Cap–Pile Foundation

    Chenkai Hong1,2,*, Zhongda Lyu2,*, Fei Wang2, Zhuo Zhao2, Lei Wang2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.7, pp. 1565-1592, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.042685 - 23 July 2024

Abstract To scrutinize the characteristics of wave–current loads on a bridge shuttle-shaped cap–pile foundation, a 1:125 test model was considered in a laboratory flume. The inline, transverse and vertical wave–current forces acting on the shuttle-shaped cap–pile group model were measured considering both random waves and a combination of random waves with a current. The experimental results have shown that the wave–current forces can be well correlated with the wave height, the wavelength, the current velocity, the incident direction and the water level in the marine environment. An increase in the current velocity can lead to a More >
