    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 5699-5712, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027364

Abstract Predicting the value of one or more variables using the values of other variables is a very important process in the various engineering experiments that include large data that are difficult to obtain using different measurement processes. Regression is one of the most important types of supervised machine learning, in which labeled data is used to build a prediction model, regression can be classified into three different categories: linear, polynomial, and logistic. In this research paper, different methods will be implemented to solve the linear regression problem, where there is a linear relationship between the target and the predicted output.… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 701-711, 2022, DOI: 10.32604/fdmp.2022.019311

Abstract Exhaust thermal management is essential to allow engines to meet the Euro VI emissions standards and reducing nitrogen oxide emissions is one of the most important targets being pursued nowadays. Along these lines, in the present study, engine’s thermal performances have been evaluated on the basis of a WHTC test, namely a transient engine dynamometer schedule defined by the global technical regulation (GTR) developed by the UN ECE GRPE group (the GTR is covering a world-wide harmonized heavy-duty certification (WHDC) procedure for engine exhaust emissions). The influence of thermal management on fuel consumption, intake, and tailpipe NOx have been quantitatively… More >

    P. V. Rajesh1, Kanak Kalita2,*, Xiao-Zhi Gao3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 2415-2433, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.018247

Abstract Bone grafting is a surgical restructuring procedure of replacing broken bones and reconstructing missing bone pieces so that complex bone fractures can be repaired to avoid any serious health risk as well as permanent bone disfiguration. Normally, human bones tend to regenerate and heal completely from fracture. But it needs a small scaffold to provide the necessary space to grow. Bone implants allow a broken bone to grow seamlessly. Traditionally, non-corrosive metal alloys are used for fixing broken bones. A metal plate is fastened between two ends of broken bones to join them. However, issues like high weight, high cost,… More >

Numerical Simulation and Experimental Analysis of the Influence of Asymmetric Pressure Conditions on the Splitting of a Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flow at a T-Junction

    Lihui Ma1, Limin He1,2,*, Xiaoming Luo1,2, Xiangran Mi3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.5, pp. 959-970, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.016710

Abstract Dedicated experiments and numerical simulations have been conducted to investigate the splitting characteristics of a gas-liquid two phase flow at a T junction. The experiments were carried out for different gas-liquid velocities. The flow rates in the two branches were measured accurately to determine how the two considered phases distribute in the two outlets. The experimental results have shown that when the two outlet pressures are asymmetric, the two-phase flow always tends to flow into the outlet which has a lower pressure. As the inlet liquid velocity increases, however, the two-phase flow gradually tends to split evenly. Compared with the… More >

Experimental Analysis of a Pneumatic Drop-on-Demand (DOD) Injection Technology for 3D Printing Using a Gallium-Indium Alloy

    Yanpu Chao1, Hao Yi2,3,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 587-595, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.015478

Abstract Many liquid metals have a high boiling point, strong electrical conductivity, high thermal conductivity, and non-toxic properties, which make them ideal targets for applications in different fields such as optics, microcircuits, electronic switches, micro-electromechanical System (MEMS) devices and 3D printing manufacturing. However, owing to the generally high surface tension of these liquids, achieving uniform micro-droplets is often a challenge due to the inherent difficulties in controlling their size and shape. In this study, a gallium indium alloy (GaIn24.5) has been used in combination with a pneumatic drop-on-demand (DOD) injection technology to carry out a series of experiments. The micro-droplet forming… More >

    A. Abbassi1,2, N. Kechiche1, H. Ben Aissia1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.10, No.3, pp. 319-341, 2014, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2014.010.319

Abstract Jet transition towards a turbulent state is an interesting topic requiring a detailed analysis of the process leading to the onset and amplification of small flow disturbances. Here we examine experimentally the transition process for an isothermal laminar round free jet at low values of the Reynolds number. Close to the inlet nozzle, the turbulence intensity is assumed to be small enough so that the initial shear layer can be considered laminar and the velocity profile uniform. Experimental data are obtained using a Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) technique at various longitudinal and transversal coordinates, (x,y). Spectral analysis of the instantaneous… More >
