Abstract Manual diagnosis of brain tumors using magnetic resonance images (MRI) is a hectic process and time-consuming. Also, it always requires an expert person for the diagnosis. Therefore, many computer-controlled methods for diagnosing and classifying brain tumors have been introduced in the literature. This paper proposes a novel multimodal brain tumor classification framework based on two-way deep learning feature extraction and a hybrid feature optimization algorithm. NasNet-Mobile, a pre-trained deep learning model, has been fine-tuned and two-way trained on original and enhanced MRI images. The haze-convolutional neural network (haze-CNN) approach is developed and employed on the original images for contrast enhancement.… More >

Role-Based Network Embedding via Quantum Walk with Weighted Features Fusion

Mingqiang Zhou*, Mengjiao Li, Zhiyuan Qian, Kunpeng Li

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.2, pp. 2443-2460, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.038675

Abstract Role-based network embedding aims to embed role-similar nodes into a similar embedding space, which is widely used in graph mining tasks such as role classification and detection. Roles are sets of nodes in graph networks with similar structural patterns and functions. However, the role-similar nodes may be far away or even disconnected from each other. Meanwhile, the neighborhood node features and noise also affect the result of the role-based network embedding, which are also challenges of current network embedding work. In this paper, we propose a Role-based network Embedding via Quantum walk with weighted Features fusion (REQF), which simultaneously considers… More >

    Muhammad Attique Khan1, Awais Khan1, Majed Alhaisoni2, Abdullah Alqahtani3, Ammar Armghan4, Sara A. Althubiti5, Fayadh Alenezi4, Senghour Mey6, Yunyoung Nam6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 5087-5103, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033856

Abstract Human gait recognition (HGR) is the process of identifying a subject (human) based on their walking pattern. Each subject is a unique walking pattern and cannot be simulated by other subjects. But, gait recognition is not easy and makes the system difficult if any object is carried by a subject, such as a bag or coat. This article proposes an automated architecture based on deep features optimization for HGR. To our knowledge, it is the first architecture in which features are fused using multiset canonical correlation analysis (MCCA). In the proposed method, original video frames are processed for all 11… More >

    Samra Rehman1, Muhammad Attique Khan1, Majed Alhaisoni2, Ammar Armghan3, Usman Tariq4, Fayadh Alenezi3, Ye Jin Kim5, Byoungchol Chang6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 697-714, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035183

Abstract Identifying fruit disease manually is time-consuming, expert-required, and expensive; thus, a computer-based automated system is widely required. Fruit diseases affect not only the quality but also the quantity. As a result, it is possible to detect the disease early on and cure the fruits using computer-based techniques. However, computer-based methods face several challenges, including low contrast, a lack of dataset for training a model, and inappropriate feature extraction for final classification. In this paper, we proposed an automated framework for detecting apple fruit leaf diseases using CNN and a hybrid optimization algorithm. Data augmentation is performed initially to balance the… More >

HRNetO: Human Action Recognition Using Unified Deep Features Optimization Framework

    Tehseen Ahsan1,*, Sohail Khalid1, Shaheryar Najam1, Muhammad Attique Khan2, Ye Jin Kim3, Byoungchol Chang4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1089-1105, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.034563

Abstract Human action recognition (HAR) attempts to understand a subject’s behavior and assign a label to each action performed. It is more appealing because it has a wide range of applications in computer vision, such as video surveillance and smart cities. Many attempts have been made in the literature to develop an effective and robust framework for HAR. Still, the process remains difficult and may result in reduced accuracy due to several challenges, such as similarity among actions, extraction of essential features, and reduction of irrelevant features. In this work, we proposed an end-to-end framework using deep learning and an improved… More >

Bridge Crack Segmentation Method Based on Parallel Attention Mechanism and Multi-Scale Features Fusion

    Jianwei Yuan1, Xinli Song1,*, Huaijian Pu2, Zhixiong Zheng3, Ziyang Niu3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 6485-6503, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035165

Abstract Regular inspection of bridge cracks is crucial to bridge maintenance and repair. The traditional manual crack detection methods are time-consuming, dangerous and subjective. At the same time, for the existing mainstream vision-based automatic crack detection algorithms, it is challenging to detect fine cracks and balance the detection accuracy and speed. Therefore, this paper proposes a new bridge crack segmentation method based on parallel attention mechanism and multi-scale features fusion on top of the DeeplabV3+ network framework. First, the improved lightweight MobileNet-v2 network and dilated separable convolution are integrated into the original DeeplabV3+ network to improve the original backbone network Xception… More >

Abstract Human Action Recognition (HAR) is a current research topic in the field of computer vision that is based on an important application known as video surveillance. Researchers in computer vision have introduced various intelligent methods based on deep learning and machine learning, but they still face many challenges such as similarity in various actions and redundant features. We proposed a framework for accurate human action recognition (HAR) based on deep learning and an improved features optimization algorithm in this paper. From deep learning feature extraction to feature classification, the proposed framework includes several critical steps. Before training fine-tuned deep learning… More >

Abstract Agriculture has been an important research area in the field of image processing for the last five years. Diseases affect the quality and quantity of fruits, thereby disrupting the economy of a country. Many computerized techniques have been introduced for detecting and recognizing fruit diseases. However, some issues remain to be addressed, such as irrelevant features and the dimensionality of feature vectors, which increase the computational time of the system. Herein, we propose an integrated deep learning framework for classifying fruit diseases. We consider seven types of fruits, i.e., apple, cherry, blueberry, grapes, peach, citrus, and strawberry. The proposed method… More >
