A Phase-Field Framework for Modeling Cohesive Fracture and Multiple Crack Evolutions in Fiber-Reinforced Composites

    Liang Wang1,*, Haibo Su1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09107

Abstract This work proposes a novel multi-phase-field formulation to characterize the distinct damage mechanisms and quasi-brittle fracture behaviors in FRC. The phase field driving forces for each failure mechanisms are first defined based on an anisotropic energy split scheme. Then, the PF degradation functions pertinent to each failure mode are properly defined with corresponding material fracture quantities, which enables the derivation of embedded Hashin failure criteria for fiber- and matrix failures respectively. Furthermore, the material damaged stiffness is redefined within the anisotropic CDM framework, and a linear CZM is mathematically derived for each of the typical failure mechanisms. Finally, the model… More >

Multi-Model Fusion Framework Using Deep Learning for Visual-Textual Sentiment Classification

    Israa K. Salman Al-Tameemi1,3, Mohammad-Reza Feizi-Derakhshi1,*, Saeed Pashazadeh2, Mohammad Asadpour2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.2, pp. 2145-2177, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040997

Abstract Multimodal Sentiment Analysis (SA) is gaining popularity due to its broad application potential. The existing studies have focused on the SA of single modalities, such as texts or photos, posing challenges in effectively handling social media data with multiple modalities. Moreover, most multimodal research has concentrated on merely combining the two modalities rather than exploring their complex correlations, leading to unsatisfactory sentiment classification results. Motivated by this, we propose a new visual-textual sentiment classification model named Multi-Model Fusion (MMF), which uses a mixed fusion framework for SA to effectively capture the essential information and the intrinsic relationship between the visual… More >

AID4I: An Intrusion Detection Framework for Industrial Internet of Things Using Automated Machine Learning

    Anıl Sezgin1,2,*, Aytuğ Boyacı3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.2, pp. 2121-2143, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040287

Abstract By identifying and responding to any malicious behavior that could endanger the system, the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is crucial for preserving the security of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) network. The benefit of anomaly-based IDS is that they are able to recognize zero-day attacks due to the fact that they do not rely on a signature database to identify abnormal activity. In order to improve control over datasets and the process, this study proposes using an automated machine learning (AutoML) technique to automate the machine learning processes for IDS. Our ground-breaking architecture, known as AID4I, makes use of… More >

    Yongcheng Cui1, Guohui Tian1,*, Xiaochun Cheng2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.2, pp. 1385-1408, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040246

Abstract Intelligent Space (IS) is widely regarded as a promising paradigm for improving quality of life through using service task processing. As the field matures, various state-of-the-art IS architectures have been proposed. Most of the IS architectures designed for service robots face the problems of fixed-function modules and low scalability when performing service tasks. To this end, we propose a hybrid cloud service robot architecture based on a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Specifically, we first use the distributed deployment of functional modules to solve the problem of high computing resource occupancy. Then, the Socket communication interface layer is designed to improve the… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 2097-2118, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.039262

Abstract Neurodegeneration is the gradual deterioration and eventual death of brain cells, leading to progressive loss of structure and function of neurons in the brain and nervous system. Neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple system atrophy, and multiple sclerosis, are characterized by progressive deterioration of brain function, resulting in symptoms such as memory impairment, movement difficulties, and cognitive decline. Early diagnosis of these conditions is crucial to slowing down cell degeneration and reducing the severity of the diseases. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely used by neurologists for diagnosing brain abnormalities. The majority of the research… More >

Automatic Examination of Condition of Used Books with YOLO-Based Object Detection Framework

    Sumin Hong1, Jin-Woo Jeong2,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 1611-1632, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.038319

Abstract As the demand for used books has grown in recent years, various online/offline market platforms have emerged to support the trade in used books. The price of used books can depend on various factors, such as the state of preservation (i.e., condition), the value of possession, and so on. Therefore, some online platforms provide a reference document to evaluate the condition of used books, but it is still not trivial for individual sellers to determine the price. The lack of a standard quantitative method to assess the condition of the used book would confuse both sellers and consumers, thereby decreasing… More >

    Mohammed M. Ali Al-Shamiri1,2, Ghous Ali3,*, Muhammad Zain Ul Abidin3, Arooj Adeel3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.2, pp. 1891-1936, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.027844

Abstract Spherical fuzzy soft expert set (SFSES) theory blends the perks of spherical fuzzy sets and group decision-making into a unified approach. It allows solutions to highly complicated uncertainties and ambiguities under the unbiased supervision and group decision-making of multiple experts. However, SFSES theory has some deficiencies such as the inability to interpret and portray the bipolarity of decision-parameters. This work highlights and overcomes these limitations by introducing the novel spherical fuzzy bipolar soft expert sets (SFBSESs) as a powerful hybridization of spherical fuzzy set theory with bipolar soft expert sets (BSESs). Followed by the development of certain set-theoretic operations and… More > Graphic Abstract
