Abstract The demonstration of a higher data rate transmission system was a major aspect to be considered by researchers in recent years. The most relevant aspect to be studied and analyzed is the need for a reliable system to handle nonlinear impairments and reduce them. Therefore, this paper examines the influence of Four-Wave Mixing (FWM) impairment on the proposed high data rate Dual polarization–Differential Quadrature phase shift keying (DP-DQPSK) system using the Optisystem software. In the beginning, the impact of varied input power on the proposed system’s performance was evaluated in terms of QF and BER metrics. More power is used… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1397-1409, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.024916

Abstract The performances of turbine blades have a significant impact on the energy conversion efficiency of vertical solar power plants. In the present study, such a relationship is assessed by considering two kinds of airfoil blades, designed by using the Wilson theory. In particular, numerical simulations are conducted using the SST K − ω model and assuming a wind speed of 3–6 m/s and seven or eight blades. The two airfoils are the NACA63121 (with a larger chord length) and the AMES63212; It is shown that the torsion angle of the former is smaller, and its wind drag ratio is larger; furthermore,… More > Graphic Abstract

    Ibrahim M. Almanjahie1,2, Zahid Rasheed3,4,*, Majid Khan5, Syed Masroor Anwar6, Ammara Nawaz Cheema7

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2091-2118, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.022201

Abstract Nonparametric (distribution-free) control charts have been introduced in recent years when quality characteristics do not follow a specific distribution. When the sample selection is prohibitively expensive, we prefer ranked-set sampling over simple random sampling because ranked set sampling-based control charts outperform simple random sampling-based control charts. In this study, we proposed a nonparametric homogeneously weighted moving average based on the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with ranked set sampling () control chart for detecting shifts in the process location of a continuous and symmetric distribution. Monte Carlo simulations are used to obtain the run length characteristics to evaluate the performance of the… More >

    Hongliang Liu1, Peijin Wang1, Yuan Liang2,*, Kai Long3, Dixiong Yang2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 1941-1964, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024921

Abstract Continuum topology optimization considering the vibration response is of great value in the engineering structure design. The aim of this study is to address the topological design optimization of harmonic excitation structures with minimum length scale control to facilitate structural manufacturing. A structural topology design based on discrete variables is proposed to avoid localized vibration modes, gray regions and fuzzy boundaries in harmonic excitation topology optimization. The topological design model and sensitivity formulation are derived. The requirement of minimum size control is transformed into a geometric constraint using the discrete variables. Consequently, thin bars, small holes, and sharp corners, which… More >

A New Modified EWMA Control Chart for Monitoring Processes Involving Autocorrelated Data

    Korakoch Silpakob1, Yupaporn Areepong1,*, Saowanit Sukparungsee1, Rapin Sunthornwat2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 281-298, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032487

Abstract Control charts are one of the tools in statistical process control widely used for monitoring, measuring, controlling, improving the quality, and detecting problems in processes in various fields. The average run length (ARL) can be used to determine the efficacy of a control chart. In this study, we develop a new modified exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart and derive explicit formulas for both one and the two-sided ARLs for a p-order autoregressive (AR(p)) process with exponential white noise on the new modified EWMA control chart. The accuracy of the explicit formulas was compared to that of the well-known… More >

Memory-Type Control Charts Through the Lens of Cost Parameters

    Sakthiseswari Ganasan1, You Huay Woon2,*, Zainol Mustafa1, Dadasaheb G. Godase3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 1-10, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032062

Abstract A memory-type control chart utilizes previous information for chart construction. An example of a memory-type chart is an exponentially-weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart. The EWMA control chart is well-known and widely employed by practitioners for monitoring small and moderate process mean shifts. Meanwhile, the EWMA median chart is robust against outliers. In light of this, the economic model of the EWMA and EWMA median control charts are commonly considered. This study aims to investigate the effect of cost parameters on the out-of-control average run length in implementing EWMA and EWMA median control charts. The economic model was used to… More >

Secure and Optimal LOADng Routing for IoT with Composite Routing Metric

    Divya Sharma1,*, Sanjay Jain2, Vivek Maik3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 655-669, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032207

Abstract Security is the one of the major challenges for routing the data between the source and destination in an Internet of Things (IoT) network. To overcome this challenge, a secure Lightweight On-demand Ad hoc Distance-vector—Next Generation (LOADng) Routing Protocol is proposed in this paper. As the LOADng protocol is the second version of Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol, it retains most of the basic functionality and characteristics of AODV. During the route discovery process, the cyclic shift transposition algorithm (CSTA) is used to encrypt the control packets of the LOADng protocol to improve its security. CSTA approach only… More >

Zhijian Wu, Li Guo*, Jun Hong

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.1, pp. 611-636, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020694

Abstract The local arc-length method is employed to control the incremental loading procedure for phase-field brittle fracture modeling. An improved staggered algorithm with energy and damage iterative tolerance convergence criteria is developed based on the residuals of displacement and phase-field. The improved staggered solution scheme is implemented in the commercial software ABAQUS with user-defined element subroutines. The layered system of finite elements is utilized to solve the coupled elastic displacement and phase-field fracture problem. A one-element benchmark test compared with the analytical solution was conducted to validate the feasibility and accuracy of the developed method. Our study shows that the result… More >
