    Hussein Abdel-Mawgoud1, Salah Kamel1, Hegazy Rezk2,3, Tahir Khurshaid4, Sang-Bong Rhee4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 1463-1481, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017995 - 21 July 2021

Abstract Recently, implementation of Battery Energy Storage (BES) with photovoltaic (PV) array in distribution networks is becoming very popular in overall the world. Integrating PV alone in distribution networks generates variable output power during 24-hours as it depends on variable natural source. PV can be able to generate constant output power during 24-hours by installing BES with it. Therefore, this paper presents a new application of a recent metaheuristic algorithm, called Slime Mould Algorithm (SMA), to determine the best size, and location of photovoltaic alone or with battery energy storage in the radial distribution system (RDS).… More >

Slime Mold Optimizer for Transformer Parameters Identification with Experimental Validation

    Salah K. Elsayed1,*, Ahmed M. Agwa2,3, Mahmoud A. El-Dabbah2, Ehab E. Elattar1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.3, pp. 639-651, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016464 - 20 April 2021

Abstract The problem of parameters identification for transformer equivalent circuit can be solved by optimizing a nonlinear formula. The objective function attempts to minimize the sum of squared relative errors amongst the accompanying calculated and actual points of currents, powers, and secondary voltage during the load test of the transformer subject to a set of parameters constraints. The authors of this paper propose applying a new and efficient stochastic optimizer called the slime mold optimization algorithm (SMOA) to identify parameters of the transformer equivalent circuit. The experimental measurements of load test of single- and three-phase transformers… More >

Comparative Design and Study of A 60 GHz Antenna for Body-Centric Wireless Communications

    Kaisarul Islam1, Tabia Hossain1, Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan1,*, Mehedi Masud2, Roobaea Alroobaea2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 19-32, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.015528 - 05 February 2021

Abstract In this paper performance of three different designs of a 60 GHz high gain antenna for body-centric communication has been evaluated. The basic structure of the antenna is a slotted patch consisting of a rectangular ring radiator with passive radiators inside. The variation of the design was done by changing the shape of these passive radiators. For free space performance, two types of excitations were used—waveguide port and a coaxial probe. The coaxial probe significantly improved both the bandwidth and radiation efficiency. The center frequency of all the designs was close to 60 GHz with… More >

Fingerprint-Based Millimeter-Wave Beam Selection for Interference Mitigation in Beamspace Multi-User MIMO Communications

    Sangmi Moon1, Hyeonsung Kim1, Seng-Phil Hong2, Mingoo Kang3, Intae Hwang1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 59-70, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013132 - 30 October 2020

Abstract Millimeter-wave communications are suitable for application to massive multiple-input multiple-output systems in order to satisfy the ever-growing data traffic demands of the next-generation wireless communication. However, their practical deployment is hindered by the high cost of complex hardware, such as radio frequency (RF) chains. To this end, operation in the beamspace domain, through beam selection, is a viable solution. Generally, the conventional beam selection schemes focus on the feedback and exhaustive search techniques. In addition, since the same beam in the beamspace may be assigned to a different user, conventional beam selection schemes suffer serious… More >

    Luc Merchez1 , Hélène Mathian2 , Julie Le Gall3

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 85-104, 2020, DOI:10.3166/rig.2020.00103

    Millimeter-Wave Concurrent Beamforming: A Multi-Player Multi-Armed Bandit Approach

    Ehab Mahmoud Mohamed1, 2, *, Sherief Hashima3, 4, Kohei Hatano3, 5, Hani Kasban4, Mohamed Rihan6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.3, pp. 1987-2007, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011816 - 16 September 2020

Abstract The communication in the Millimeter-wave (mmWave) band, i.e., 30~300 GHz, is characterized by short-range transmissions and the use of antenna beamforming (BF). Thus, multiple mmWave access points (APs) should be installed to fully cover a target environment with gigabits per second (Gbps) connectivity. However, inter-beam interference prevents maximizing the sum rates of the established concurrent links. In this paper, a reinforcement learning (RL) approach is proposed for enabling mmWave concurrent transmissions by finding out beam directions that maximize the long-term average sum rates of the concurrent links. Specifically, the problem is formulated as a multiplayer… More >

Liang Jia, Chunxiang Li, Jian Guo*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.10, pp. 1357-1373, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.012136 - 31 August 2020

Abstract Lime-fly ash stabilized loess has a poor early strength, which results in a later traffic opening time when it is used as road-base materials. Consideration of the significant early strength characteristics of sulphate aluminum cement (SAC), it is always added into the lime-fly ash mixtures to improve the early strength of stabilized loess. However, there is a scarcity of research on the mechanical behavior of lime-fly ash-SAC stabilized loess and there is a lack of quantitative evaluation of loess stabilized with binder materials. This research explored the effects of the amount of binder materials, curing… More >
