    Hau Nguyen-Ngoc1,2, H. Nguyen-Xuan3, Magd Abdel-Wahab4,5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 165-178, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012948

Abstract This study adapts the flexible characteristic of meshfree method in analyzing three-dimensional (3D) complex geometry structures, which are the interlocking concrete blocks of step seawall. The elastostatic behavior of the block is analysed by solving the Galerkin weak form formulation over local support domain. The 3D moving least square (MLS) approximation is applied to build the interpolation functions of unknowns. The pre-defined number of nodes in an integration domain ranging from 10 to 60 nodes is also investigated for their effect on the studied results. The accuracy and efficiency of the studied method on 3D elastostatic responses are validated through… More >

Erdem Yavuz1,∗, Rıfat Yazıcı2, Mustafa Cem Kasapba¸sı2, Turgay Tugay Bilgin1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.34, No.6, pp. 339-355, 2019, DOI:10.32604/csse.2019.34.339

Abstract This study proposes an efficient algorithm for improving flattening result of triangular mesh surface patches having a convex shape. The proposed approach, based on barycentric mapping technique, incorporates a dynamic virtual boundary, which considerably improves initial mapping result. The dynamic virtual boundary approach is utilized to reduce the distortions for the triangles near the boundary caused by the nature of convex combination technique. Mapping results of the proposed algorithm and the base technique are compared by area and shape accuracy metrics measured for several sample surfaces. The results prove the success of the proposed approach with respect to the base… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.124, No.3, pp. 1131-1147, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09735

Abstract In order to solve the problem of high computing cost and low simulation accuracy caused by discontinuity of incision in traditional meshless model, this paper proposes a soft tissue deformation model based on the Marquardt algorithm and enrichment function. The model is based on the element-free Galerkin method, in which Kelvin viscoelastic model and adjustment function are integrated. Marquardt algorithm is applied to fit the relation between force and displacement caused by surface deformation, and the enrichment function is applied to deal with the discontinuity in the meshless method. To verify the validity of the model, the Sensable Phantom Omni… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1271-1282, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011736

Abstract In order to study the behavior and interconnection of network devices, graphs structures are used to formulate the properties in terms of mathematical models. Mesh network (meshnet) is a LAN topology in which devices are connected either directly or through some intermediate devices. These terminating and intermediate devices are considered as vertices of graph whereas wired or wireless connections among these devices are shown as edges of graph. Topological indices are used to reflect structural property of graphs in form of one real number. This structural invariant has revolutionized the field of chemistry to identify molecular descriptors of chemical compounds.… More >

    Bin Wang1, Jing Zheng1, Yuanyuan Yu1,2, Runmin Lv1, Changyue Xu1,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.4, pp. 675-684, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.09681

Abstract Rocket sleds belong to a category of large-scale test platforms running on the ground. The applications can be found in many fields, such as aerospace engineering, conventional weapons, and civil high-tech products. In the present work, shock-wave/rail-fasteners interaction is investigated numerically when the rocket sled is in supersonic flow conditions. Two typical rocket sled models are considered, i.e., an anti-D shaped version of the rocket sled and an axisymmetric slender-body variant. The dynamics for Mach number 2 have been simulated in the framework of a dynamic mesh method. The emerging shock waves can be categorized as head-shock, tailing-shock and reflected-shock.… More >

    Marjan Uddin1,*, Hameed Ullah Jan1,*, Muhammad Usman2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.2, pp. 797-819, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.08717

Abstract In this paper, we approximate the solution and also discuss the periodic behavior termed as eventual periodicity of solutions of (IBVPs) for some dispersive wave equations on a bounded domain corresponding to periodic forcing. The constructed numerical scheme is based on radial kernels and local in nature like finite difference method. The temporal variable is executed through RK4 scheme. Due to the local nature and sparse differentiation matrices our numerical scheme efficiently recovers the solution. The results achieved are validated and examined with other methods accessible in the literature. More >

A Staggered Grid Method for Solving Incompressible Flow on Unstructured Meshes

Huawen Shu, Minghai Xu, Xinyue Duan*, Yongtong Li, Yu Sun, Ruitian Li, Peng Ding

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.2, pp. 509-523, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.08806

Abstract A finite volume method based unstructured grid is presented to solve the two dimensional viscous and incompressible flow. The method is based on the pressure-correction concept and solved by using a semi-staggered grid technique. The computational procedure can handle cells of arbitrary shapes, although solutions presented in this paper were only involved with triangular and quadrilateral cells. The pressure or pressure-correction value was stored on the vertex of cells. The mass conservation equation was discretized on the dual cells surrounding the vertex of primary cells, while the velocity components and other scale variables were saved on the central of primary… More >

    Ping Lou1, 2, ∗, Xinlei Zhang1, F. T. K. Au3, Zixian Zhang1, Yi Huang1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.3, pp. 955-969, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.08302

Abstract Discretising a structure into elements is a key step in finite element (FE) analysis. The discretised geometry used to formulate an FE model can greatly affect accuracy and validity. This paper presents a unified dimensionless parameter to generate a mesh of cubic FEs for the analysis of very long beams resting on an elastic foundation. A uniform beam resting on elastic foundation with various values of flexural stiffness and elastic supporting coefficients subject to static load and moving load is used to illustrate the application of the proposed parameter. The numerical results show that (a) Even if the values of… More >

    Abdulghani Alharbi1, Mahmoud A. E. Abdelrahman1, 2, *, M. B. Almatrafi1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.2, pp. 743-756, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.07996

Abstract The nonlinear dispersive modified Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (DMBBM) equation is solved numerically using adaptive moving mesh PDEs (MMPDEs) method. Indeed, the exact solution of the DMBBM equation is obtained by using the extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method. The current methods give a wider applicability for handling nonlinear wave equations in engineering and mathematical physics. The adaptive moving mesh method is compared with exact solution by numerical examples, where the explicit solutions are known. The numerical results verify the accuracy of the proposed method. Jie Bai1,#, Liqiang Lin1,#, Xiaowei Zeng 1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.3, pp. 787-800, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.07159

Abstract The collective cell migration behavior on a substrate was studied using RKPM meshfree method. The cells were modeled as nematic liquid crystal with hyperelastic cell nucleus. The cell-substrate and cell-cell interactions were modeled by coarse-grained potential forces. Through this study, the pulling and pushing phenomenon during collective cell migration process was observed and it was found that the individual cell mobility significantly influenced the collective cell migratory behavior. More self-propelled cells are in the system along the same direction, the faster the collective group migrates toward coordinated direction. The parametric study on cell-cell adhesion strength indicated that as the adhesion… More >
