A Novel Meta-Heuristic Optimization Algorithm in White Blood Cells Classification

    Khaled A. Fathy, Humam K. Yaseen*, Mohammad T. Abou-Kreisha, Kamal A. ElDahshan

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1527-1545, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.036322

Abstract Some human diseases are recognized through of each type of White Blood Cell (WBC) count, so detecting and classifying each type is important for human healthcare. The main aim of this paper is to propose a computer-aided WBCs utility analysis tool designed, developed, and evaluated to classify WBCs into five types namely neutrophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, and basophils. Using a computer-artificial model reduces resource and time consumption. Various pre-trained deep learning models have been used to extract features, including AlexNet, Visual Geometry Group (VGG), Residual Network (ResNet), which belong to different taxonomy types of deep learning architectures. Also, Binary Border… More >

Al-Biruni Earth Radius Optimization for COVID-19 Forecasting

    El-Sayed M. El-kenawy1, Abdelaziz A. Abdelhamid2,3, Abdelhameed Ibrahim4, Mostafa Abotaleb5, Tatiana Makarovskikh5, Amal H. Alharbi6,*, Doaa Sami Khafaga6

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 883-896, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034697

Abstract Several instances of pneumonia with no clear etiology were recorded in Wuhan, China, on December 31, 2019. The world health organization (WHO) called it COVID-19 that stands for “Coronavirus Disease 2019,” which is the second version of the previously known severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) Coronavirus and identified in short as (SARSCoV-2). There have been regular restrictions to avoid the infection spread in all countries, including Saudi Arabia. The prediction of new cases of infections is crucial for authorities to get ready for early handling of the virus spread. Methodology: Analysis and forecasting of epidemic patterns in new SARSCoV-2 positive… More >

Al-Biruni Based Optimization of Rainfall Forecasting in Ethiopia

    El-Sayed M. El-kenawy1, Abdelaziz A. Abdelhamid2,3, Fadwa Alrowais4,*, Mostafa Abotaleb5, Abdelhameed Ibrahim6, Doaa Sami Khafaga4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 2885-2899, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034206

Abstract Rainfall plays a significant role in managing the water level in the reservoir. The unpredictable amount of rainfall due to the climate change can cause either overflow or dry in the reservoir. Many individuals, especially those in the agricultural sector, rely on rain forecasts. Forecasting rainfall is challenging because of the changing nature of the weather. The area of Jimma in southwest Oromia, Ethiopia is the subject of this research, which aims to develop a rainfall forecasting model. To estimate Jimma’s daily rainfall, we propose a novel approach based on optimizing the parameters of long short-term memory (LSTM) using Al-Biruni… More >

Reliability Analysis of Piled Raft Foundation Using a Novel Hybrid Approach of ANN and Equilibrium Optimizer

    Abidhan Bardhan1, Priyadip Manna1, Vinay Kumar1, Avijit Burman1, Bojan Žlender2, Pijush Samui1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.3, pp. 1033-1067, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015885

Abstract In many civil engineering projects, Piled Raft Foundations (PRFs) are usually preferred where the incoming load from the superstructures is very high. In geotechnical engineering practice, the settlement of soil layers is a critical issue for the serviceability of the structures. Thus, assessment of risk associated with the structures corresponding to the maximum allowable settlement of soils needs to be carried out in the design phase. In this study, reliability analysis of PRF based on settlement criteria is performed using a high-performance hybrid soft computing model. The new approach is an integration of the artificial neural network (ANN) and a… More >
