    Study on a Ranging System Based on Dual Solenoid Assemblies, for Determining the Relative Position of Two Adjacent Wells

    Abstract The measurement of the relative position of two adjacent wells is one of the key technologies in the directional drilling of twin parallel horizontal wells, and the downhole intersection of two adjacent wells. A new electromagnetic ranging system and a guidance method are introduced for determining the relative position of two adjacent wells. The system mainly consists of two solenoid assemblies, improved surveying instrument for measurement while drilling (MWD), and a computational procedure for guidance.     Abstract The meshless local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method is used to solve the inverse heat conduction problem of predicting the distribution of the heat transfer coefficient on the boundary of 2-D and axisymmetric bodies. Using this method, nodes are randomly distributed over the numerical solution domain, and surrounding each of these nodes, a circular sub-domain is introduced. By choosing a unit step function as the test function, the local integral equations (LIE) on the boundaries of these sub-domains are derived.     Abstract The two-dimensional elasticity problem of an isotropic material, containing a centered-crack with unknown boundary traction is studied by the inverse procedure. The dual boundary integral equations are used to analyze the problem. While solving the ill-posed inverse problem, both of the conjugate gradient method and the regularization method are used. A scaling factor depending upon the material constant μ is introduced into the sensitivity matrix in order to keep the order of magnitude the same throughout the formulation.     Abstract The conjugate gradient method (CGM) is applied in an inverse fin design problem in estimating the optimum shapes for the non-Fourier spine and longitudinal fins based on the desired fin efficiency and fin volume at the specified time. One of the advantages in using CGM in the inverse design problem lies in that it can handle problems having a huge number of design parameters easily and converges very fast.

    Abstract In this research, we aim to identify and investigate the impacts of key influencers on community formations and developments. We assess the impacts of key influencers by analyzing the activities and structure of the social media presence of a local community. Results of our analysis show that key influencers play important roles in connecting the community, transferring information, and improving overall sentiment of the community members. Our findings suggest that community practitioners can apply social network analysis to identify value-added influencers and discover strategies for improving the community and keeping leadership roles.
