    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.23, No.5, pp. 1555-1574, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2025.069392 - 31 October 2025

Abstract Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) radiative chemically reactive mixed convection flow of a hybrid nanofluid (Al2O3Cu/H2O) across an inclined, porous, and stretched sheet is examined in this study, along with its unsteady heat and mass transport properties. The hybrid nanofluid’s enhanced heat transfer efficiency is a major benefit in high-performance engineering applications. It is composed of two separate nanoparticles suspended in a base fluid and is chosen for its improved thermal properties. Thermal radiation, chemical reactions, a transverse magnetic field, surface stretching with time, injection or suction through the porous medium, and the effect of inclination, which introduces gravity-induced… More >

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.23, No.4, pp. 1323-1350, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2025.065254 - 29 August 2025

Abstract This study investigates laminar convection in three regimes (forced convection, mixed convection, and natural convection) of a bi-nanofluid (Cu-Al2O3-water)/mono-nanofluid (Al2O3-water) inside a square enclosure of sliding vertical walls which are kept at cold temperature and moving up, down, or in opposite directions. The enclosure bottom is heated partially by a central heat source of various sizes while the horizontal walls are considered adiabatic. The thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity are dependent on temperature and nanoparticle size. The conservation equations are implemented in the solver ANSYS R2 (2020). The numerical predictions are successfully validated by comparison with… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.11, pp. 2603-2616, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.050641 - 28 October 2024

Abstract This study aims to optimize the influence of the inlet inclination angle on the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), heat, and temperature distribution in mixed convection within a two-dimensional square cavity filled with an air-CO2 mixture. The air-CO2 mixture enters the cavity through two inlet openings positioned at the top wall, which is set at the ambient temperature (TC). Three values of the Reynolds numbers, ranging from 1000 to 2000, are considered, while the Prandtl number is kept constant (Pr = 0.71). The temperature distribution and streamlines are shown for Rayleigh number (Ra) equal to 104, three inlet More >

    Azad Hussain1, Saira Raiz1, Ali Hassan1,2,*, Mohamed R. Ali3, Abdulkafi Mohammed Saeed4

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.2, pp. 433-453, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.044121 - 20 May 2024

Abstract Heat transfer improves significantly when the working fluid has high thermal conductivity. Heat transfer can be found in fields such as food processing, solar through collectors, and drug delivery. Considering this notable fact, this work is focused on investigating the bio-convection-enhanced heat transfer in the existence of convective boundary conditions in the flow of hybrid nanofluid across a stretching surface. Buongiorno fluid model with hybrid nanoparticles has been employed along the swimming microorganisms to investigate the mixture base working fluid. The developed nonlinear flow governing equations have been tackled numerically with the help of the… More > Graphic Abstract

Influence of Brownian Motion, Thermophoresis and Magnetic Effects on a Fluid Containing Nanoparticles Flowing over a Stretchable Cylinder

    Aaqib Majeed1,*, Ahmad Zeeshan2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.3, pp. 525-536, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.028716 - 12 January 2024

Abstract The influence of Brownian motion and thermophoresis on a fluid containing nanoparticles flowing over a stretchable cylinder is examined. The classical Navier-Stokes equations are considered in a porous frame. In addition, the Lorentz force is taken into account. The controlling coupled nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into a system of first order ordinary differential equations by means of a similarity transformation. The resulting system of equations is solved by employing a shooting approach properly implemented in MATLAB. The evolution of the boundary layer and the growing velocity is shown graphically together with the related More >

    Abstract

The effect of the tilt angle on mixed convection and related heat transfer in a “T” shaped double enclosure with four heated obstacles on the bottom surface is numerically investigated. The considered obstacles are constantly kept at a relatively high (fixed) temperature, while the cavity’s upper wall is cooled. The finite volume approach is used to solve the mass, momentum, and energy equations with the SIMPLEC algorithm being exploited to deal with the pressure-velocity coupling. Emphasis is put on the influence of the tilt angle on the solution symmetry, flow structure, and heat exchange through the

Buoyancy Effects in the Peristaltic Flow of a Prandtl-Eyring Nanofluid with Slip Boundaries

    Hina Zahir*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1507-1519, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.022520 - 30 January 2023

Abstract The interaction of nanoparticles with a peristaltic flow is analyzed considering a Prandtl-Eyring fluid under various conditions, such as the presence of a heat source/sink and slip effects in channels with a curvature. This problem has extensive background links with various fields in medical science such as chemotherapy and more in general nanotechnology. A similarity transformation is used to turn the original balance equations into a set of ordinary differential equations, which are then integrated numerically. The investigation reveals that nanofluids have valuable thermal capabilitises. More >

Numerical Analysis of the Mixed Flow of a Non-Newtonian Fluid over a Stretching Sheet with Thermal Radiation

    Nourhan I. Ghoneim1,*, Ahmed M. Megahed2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.2, pp. 407-419, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.020508 - 29 August 2022

Abstract A mathematical model is elaborated for the laminar flow of an Eyring-Powell fluid over a stretching sheet. The considered non-Newtonian fluid has Prandtl number larger than one. The effects of variable fluid properties and heat generation/absorption are also discussed. The balance equations for fluid flow are reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations through a similarity transformation and solved numerically using a Chebyshev spectral scheme. The effect of various parameters on the rate of heat transfer in the thermal boundary regime is investigated, i.e., thermal conductivity, the heat generation/absorption ratio and the mixed convection More >

    Mostafa Zaydan1, Mehdi Riahi1,2,*, Fateh Mebarek-Oudina3, Rachid Sehaqui1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 789-819, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.015422 - 17 May 2021

Abstract Steady, laminar mixed convection inside a lid-driven square cavity filled with nanofluid is investigated numerically. We consider the case where the right and left walls are moving downwards and upwards respectively and maintained at different temperatures while the other two horizontal ones are kept adiabatic and impermeable. The set of nonlinear coupled governing mass, momentum, and energy equations are solved using an extensively validated and a highly accurate finite difference method of fourth-order. Comparisons with previously conducted investigations on special configurations are performed and show an excellent agreement. Meanwhile, attention is focused on the heat… More >
