    Abstract In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people suffering from eye illnesses, which should be treated as soon as possible in order to avoid blindness.     Abstract A critical component of dealing with heart disease is real-time identification, which triggers rapid action. The main challenge of real-time identification is illustrated here by the rare occurrence of cardiac arrhythmias. Recent contributions to cardiac arrhythmia prediction using supervised learning approaches generally involve the use of demographic features (electronic health records), signal features (electrocardiogram features as signals), and temporal features. Since the signal of the electrical activity of the heartbeat is very sensitive to differences between high and low heartbeats, it is possible to detect some of the irregularities in the early stages of arrhythmia.     Abstract In Bazhong City, Sichuan Province, China, top dieback symptoms were found on many pine trees (Pinus thunbergii Parl). The tips of old needles first turned grayish-green and then developed into brown bands in the field. Phylogenetic analysis of concatenated ITS and EF1-α indicated the pathogen of this dieback disease as Diplodia neojuniperi. Additionally, effects of temperature, pH and medium on the mycelial growth were also characterized. The most favorable temperature and pH level for mycelial growth are 25°C and 8, respectively.     Abstract The SRY-related high mobility group (HMG) box (SOX) transcription factors participate in many physiological processes of animal growth, development, and reproduction and are related to spermatogenesis in many species. However, the relationship between SOX and spermatogenesis in Eriocheir sinensis is rarely reported. Here, we studied the role of Es-SOX8 in the spermatogenesis of E. sinensis and its possible regulation mechanism. Immunofluorescence results demonstrated Es-SOX8 signal in both cytoplasm and nucleus of spermatogonia, spermatocytes as well as spermatids, but not in mature spermatozoa.     Abstract The segmentation process requires separating the image region into sub-regions of similar properties. Each sub-region has a group of pixels having the same characteristics, such as texture or intensity. This paper suggests an efficient hybrid segmentation approach for different medical image modalities based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) and improved fast fuzzy C-means clustering (IFFCM) algorithms.
