RP-NBSR: A Novel Network Attack Detection Model Based on Machine Learning

    Zihao Shen1,2, Hui Wang1,*, Kun Liu1, Peiqian Liu1, Menglong Ba1, MengYao Zhao3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 121-133, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014988 - 05 February 2021

Abstract The rapid progress of the Internet has exposed networks to an increased number of threats. Intrusion detection technology can effectively protect network security against malicious attacks. In this paper, we propose a ReliefF-P-Naive Bayes and softmax regression (RP-NBSR) model based on machine learning for network attack detection to improve the false detection rate and F1 score of unknown intrusion behavior. In the proposed model, the Pearson correlation coefficient is introduced to compensate for deficiencies in correlation analysis between features by the ReliefF feature selection algorithm, and a ReliefF-Pearson correlation coefficient (ReliefF-P) algorithm is proposed. Then, More >

Predicting the Type of Crime: Intelligence Gathering and Crime Analysis

    Saleh Albahli1, Anadil Alsaqabi1, Fatimah Aldhubayi1, Hafiz Tayyab Rauf2,*, Muhammad Arif3, Mazin Abed Mohammed4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2317-2341, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014113 - 28 December 2020

Abstract Crimes are expected to rise with an increase in population and the rising gap between society’s income levels. Crimes contribute to a significant portion of the socioeconomic loss to any society, not only through its indirect damage to the social fabric and peace but also the more direct negative impacts on the economy, social parameters, and reputation of a nation. Policing and other preventive resources are limited and have to be utilized. The conventional methods are being superseded by more modern approaches of machine learning algorithms capable of making predictions where the relationships between the… More >

An IoT-Cloud Based Intelligent Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy Stage Classification Using Deep Learning Approach

    K. Shankar1,*, Eswaran Perumal1, Mohamed Elhoseny2, Phong Thanh Nguyen3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1665-1680, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013251 - 26 November 2020

Abstract Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a disease with an increasing prevalence and the major reason for blindness among working-age population. The possibility of severe vision loss can be extensively reduced by timely diagnosis and treatment. An automated screening for DR has been identified as an effective method for early DR detection, which can decrease the workload associated to manual grading as well as save diagnosis costs and time. Several studies have been carried out to develop automated detection and classification models for DR. This paper presents a new IoT and cloud-based deep learning for healthcare diagnosis… More >

Analysis and Prediction of New Media Information Dissemination of Police Microblog

Leyao Chen, Lei Hong*, Jiayin Liu

    Journal of New Media, Vol.2, No.2, pp. 91-98, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jnm.2020.010125 - 21 August 2020

Abstract This paper aims to analyze the microblog data published by the official account in a certain province of China, and finds out the rule of Weibo that is easier to be forwarded in the new police media perspective. In this paper, a new topic-based model is proposed. Firstly, the LDA topic clustering algorithm is used to extract the topic categories with forwarding heat from the microblogs with high forwarding numbers, then the Naive Bayesian algorithm is used to topic categories. The sample data is processed to predict the type of microblog forwarding. In order to More >

Roman Urdu News Headline Classification Empowered with Machine Learning

    Rizwan Ali Naqvi1, Muhammad Adnan Khan2, *, Nauman Malik2, Shazia Saqib2, Tahir Alyas2, Dildar Hussain3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1221-1236, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011686 - 20 August 2020

Abstract Roman Urdu has been used for text messaging over the Internet for years especially in Indo-Pak Subcontinent. Persons from the subcontinent may speak the same Urdu language but they might be using different scripts for writing. The communication using the Roman characters, which are used in the script of Urdu language on social media, is now considered the most typical standard of communication in an Indian landmass that makes it an expensive information supply. English Text classification is a solved problem but there have been only a few efforts to examine the rich information supply… More >

    Suhas S. Aralikatti1, K. N. Ravikumar1, Hemantha Kumar1,*, H. Shivananda Nayaka1, V. Sugumaran2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.14, No.2, pp. 127-145, 2020, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2020.07595 - 23 June 2020

Abstract The state of cutting tool determines the quality of surface produced on the machined parts. A faulty tool produces poor surface, inaccurate geometry and non-economic production. Thus, it is necessary to monitor tool condition for a machining process to have superior quality and economic production. In the present study, fault classification of single point cutting tool for hard turning has been carried out by employing machine learning technique. Cutting force and vibration signals were acquired to monitor tool condition during machining. A set of four tooling conditions namely healthy, worn flank, broken insert and extended… More >

Within-Project and Cross-Project Software Defect Prediction Based on Improved Transfer Naive Bayes Algorithm

    Kun Zhu1, Nana Zhang1, Shi Ying1, *, Xu Wang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.2, pp. 891-910, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08096 - 01 May 2020

Abstract With the continuous expansion of software scale, software update and maintenance have become more and more important. However, frequent software code updates will make the software more likely to introduce new defects. So how to predict the defects quickly and accurately on the software change has become an important problem for software developers. Current defect prediction methods often cannot reflect the feature information of the defect comprehensively, and the detection effect is not ideal enough. Therefore, we propose a novel defect prediction model named ITNB (Improved Transfer Naive Bayes) based on improved transfer Naive Bayesian… More >
