Noise Pollution Reduction through a Novel Optimization Procedure in Passive Control Methods

    Haojie Lian1,2, Leilei Chen2,3, Xiao Lin4, Wenchang Zhao5,*, Stephane P. A. Bordas6,7, Mingdong Zhou8,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.1, pp. 1-18, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019705

Abstract This paper proposes a novel optimization framework in passive control techniques to reduce noise pollution. The geometries of the structures are represented by Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces, which are able to build gap-free Computer-Aided Design models and meanwhile tackle the extraordinary points that are commonly encountered in geometric modelling. The acoustic fields are simulated using the isogeometric boundary element method, and a density-based topology optimization is conducted to optimize distribution of sound-absorbing materials adhered to structural surfaces. The approach enables one to perform acoustic optimization from Computer-Aided Design models directly without needing meshing and volume parameterization, thereby avoiding the geometric errors… More >

Prioritizing and Providing Sound Pollution Control Strategies at the CPF of North Azadegan Oilfield Project

Ali Askari1, Ali Salehi Sahl Abadi2,*, Alimardan Alinia3, Milad Pourjaafar4, Aref Honairi Haghighi5, Elham Akhlaghi Pirposhteh6

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.55, No.4, pp. 329-341, 2021, DOI:10.32604/sv.2021.016662

Abstract Among the harmful occupational factors, noise is the most common exposure in the oil industrial workplaces. The present study aimed to prioritize sound pollution areas in central processing facilities (CPF) of an oil field in order to provide corrective action in the studied industry and similar industries. After reviewing the issued permit to work, job description and noise dosimetry test, the evaluated areas were selected then sound pressure levels in the referenced areas investigated according to ISO 9612–2009 (E) next the noise map prepared for all selected areas. For identifying the prioritized areas to implement the control measures NCPI was… More >

Effect of Plastocene Embedment in the Microperforated Plate on Its Acoustic Performance

    Yipu Wang1, Yonghua Wang1,2,*, Zheming Liu1, Huadong Yu1, Jinkai Xu1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.5, pp. 923-941, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.014138

Abstract Noise pollution is one of the contemporary environmental pollution, which seriously damages people’s green and healthy life. In order to further improve the low frequency sound absorption performance of microperforated panel (MPP), a new plastocene coupled microperforated plate (PCMPP) is proposed. The acoustic properties of PCMPP with different apertures and perforation ratio were measured by transfer function method and compared with that of conventional MPPs. It is found that when the aperture was 0.8 mm, the peak value of sound absorption coefficient of PCMPP decreased by 150 Hz compared with MPP. In a certain range, PCMPP with larger apertures showed… More >

Assessment of Traffic Noise Pollution in Burla Town, India; An Inclusive Annoyance Study

    A. K. Sahu1, M. Pradhan1, C. R. Mohanty2, P. K. Pradhan1,*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.54, No.1, pp. 27-42, 2020, DOI:10.32604/sv.2020.08586

Abstract Noise pollution is one of the major public health problems in urban areas throughout the world. Noise is unwanted sound which produces undesirable problems in day to day life of human being (e.g., physiological and psychological problems). Rapid increase of the industrialization, urbanization, infrastructure, volume of motor vehicles, and increase in the road networks brought noise pollution to the highest level of disaster in a current situation. In urban areas, road traffic noise plays commanding role among all noise sources and affects the exposed inhabitants. The present work is done to evaluate and assess the traffic noise and its effects… More >

Investigation on Noise Pollution Comprehensive Treatment of Distribution Transformer in Living Area

    Li Li1, Xiaopeng Fan1, Kecheng Wu2, Zhuanglei Zou1, Yongyan Zhou1, Dianhai Zhang3,*, Ziyan Ren3, Yanli Zhang3

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.6, pp. 251-262, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.05252

Abstract In the current paper, which deals with the noise pollution excited by distribution transformers in the living area, a comprehensive treatment scheme is put forward for the purpose of reducing the sound pressure level emitting into the environment. In accordance with the associated test standard, the sound pressure levels of distribution transformer and surrounding environment are not only tested but analyzed as well. The measurements were carried out with the frequency analysis of the 1/3 octave resolution, with the center frequencies at 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 400 Hz, and 500 Hz. As illustrated, on the basis of the measurement results,… More >
