    Chunlei Ruan1,2,*, Cengceng Dong1, Kunfeng Liang3, Zhijun Liu1, Xinru Bao1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 3033-3049, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030607

Abstract Using Euler’s first-order explicit (EE) method and the peridynamic differential operator (PDDO) to discretize the time and internal crystal-size derivatives, respectively, the Euler’s first-order explicit method–peridynamic differential operator (EE–PDDO) was obtained for solving the one-dimensional population balance equation in crystallization. Four different conditions during crystallization were studied: size-independent growth, size-dependent growth in a batch process, nucleation and size-independent growth, and nucleation and size-dependent growth in a continuous process. The high accuracy of the EE–PDDO method was confirmed by comparing it with the numerical results obtained using the second-order upwind and HR-van methods. The method is characterized by non-oscillation and high… More > Graphic Abstract

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1951-1979, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030896

Abstract Tourism is a popular activity that allows individuals to escape their daily routines and explore new destinations for various reasons, including leisure, pleasure, or business. A recent study has proposed a unique mathematical concept called a q−Rung orthopair fuzzy hypersoft set (ROFHS) to enhance the formal representation of human thought processes and evaluate tourism carrying capacity. This approach can capture the imprecision and ambiguity often present in human perception. With the advanced mathematical tools in this field, the study has also incorporated the Einstein aggregation operator and score function into the ROFHS values to support multi-attribute decision-making algorithms. By implementing… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1385-1403, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.028803

Abstract New fractional operators, the COVID-19 model has been studied in this paper. By using different numerical techniques and the time fractional parameters, the mechanical characteristics of the fractional order model are identified. The uniqueness and existence have been established. The model’s Ulam-Hyers stability analysis has been found. In order to justify the theoretical results, numerical simulations are carried out for the presented method in the range of fractional order to show the implications of fractional and fractal orders. We applied very effective numerical techniques to obtain the solutions of the model and simulations. Also, we present conditions of existence for… More >

    Yixia Chen1,2, Mingwei Lin1,2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 845-866, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040970

Abstract The consensus scheme is an essential component in the real blockchain environment. The Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) is a competitive consensus scheme that can decrease energy costs, promote decentralization, and increase efficiency, respectively. However, how to study the knowledge representation of the collective voting information and then select delegates is a new open problem. To ensure the fairness and effectiveness of transactions in the blockchain, in this paper, we propose a novel fine-grained knowledge representation method, which improves the DPoS scheme based on the linguistic term set (LTS) and proportional hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (PHFLTS). To this end,… More >

    Shun Ma1, Na Yu1, Xiuna Wang2, Shiyan Mei1, Mingrui Zhao2,*, Xiaoyu Han2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.10, pp. 2369-2392, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.028727

Abstract Using the improved prospect theory with the linear transformations of rewarding good and punishing bad (RGPBIT), a new investment ranking model for power grid construction projects (PGCPs) is proposed. Given the uncertainty of each index value under the market environment, fuzzy numbers are used to describe qualitative indicators and interval numbers are used to describe quantitative ones. Taking into account decision-maker’s subjective risk attitudes, a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method based on improved prospect theory is proposed. First, the [−1, 1] RGPBIT operator is proposed to normalize the original data, to obtain the best and worst schemes of PGCPs. Furthermore, the… More >

Detection of Fatigue Cracks in Metal Material Based on Peridynamic Differential Operator

    Jiaming Liang1, Qizheng Wang1, Yile Hu1, Yin Yu1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09307

Abstract The most common form of damage in aircraft structures is fatigue damage. Accurate detection of fatigue crack tip is the cornerstone for prediction of crack propagation path and the basis for calculation of residual strength and stiffness. It is of great significance to improve structural fatigue resistance design. When simulating the crack growth problem based on the traditional method, the crack tip needs to be re-meshed so that resulting in low calculation efficiency. The expansion of fatigue cracks has a complex shape, for example, the fatigue crack damage on the aircraft skin often shows a curved shape. The current traditional… More >

The Comparisons Between Peridynamic Differential Operators and Nonlocal Differential Operators

    Xingyu Kan1,*, Yiwei Wang1, Jiale Yan2, Renfang Huang1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.2, pp. 1-2, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09937

Abstract Nonlocal differential operators have become an increasingly important tool in the field of numerical modeling and computational science. In recent years, two specific types of nonlocal differential operators have emerged as particularly useful in simulations of material and structural failures, such as fracture and crack propagations in solids. In this paper, the first type of nonlocal operator is based on the nonlocal operator theory in peridynamic theory, which is called PDOs [1,2]. The second type of nonlocal operator is derived from the Taylor series expansion of nonlocal interpolation, which is called NDOs [3-5]. NDOs are usually used to discretize the… More >

    Yu-Ming Chu1, Sobia Sultana2, Saima Rashid3,*, Mohammed Shaaf Alharthi4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.3, pp. 2427-2464, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.028771

Abstract Various data sets showing the prevalence of numerous viral diseases have demonstrated that the transmission is not truly homogeneous. Two examples are the spread of Spanish flu and COVID-19. The aim of this research is to develop a comprehensive nonlinear stochastic model having six cohorts relying on ordinary differential equations via piecewise fractional differential operators. Firstly, the strength number of the deterministic case is carried out. Then, for the stochastic model, we show that there is a critical number that can predict virus persistence and infection eradication. Because of the peculiarity of this notion, an interesting way… More >

    Shahzad Noor Abbasi1, Shahzaib Ashraf1,*, M. Shazib Hameed1, Sayed M. Eldin2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.3, pp. 2795-2844, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.028963

Abstract The primary goal of this research is to determine the optimal agricultural field selection that would most effectively support manufacturing producers in manufacturing production while accounting for unpredictability and reliability in their decision-making. The PFS is known to address the levels of participation and non-participation. To begin, we introduce the novel concept of a PFZN, which is a hybrid structure of Pythagorean fuzzy sets and the ZN. The PFZN is graded in terms of membership and non-membership, as well as reliability, which provides a strong advice in real-world decision support concerns. The PFZN is a useful tool for dealing with… More >
