    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.6, pp. 1477-1492, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.011853

Abstract Portfolio optimization is an effective way to diversify investment risk and optimize asset management. Many multiobjective optimization mathematical models and metaheuristic intelligent algorithms have been proposed to solve portfolio problem under an ideal condition. This paper presents a biobjective portfolio optimization model under the assumption of no short selling. In order to obtain sufficient number of portfolio optimal solutions uniformly distributed on the portfolio efficient Pareto front, a hybrid imperialist competitive evolutionary algorithm which combines a multi-colony levy crossover operator and a simple-colony moving operator with random perturbation is also given. The performance of the given algorithm is verified by… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.4, pp. 703-711, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.012047

Abstract Despite the great potential of photosynthetic microbes in the production of renewable fuels, value-adding chemicals, and water treatment, etc., commercial utilization of them is significantly hindered by the lack of techniques to accurately monitor the thermodynamic and kinetic characteristics of the In-situ growth of microbes under controlled light illumination for optimal cultivation. Herein, we demonstrated that a newly developed highly sensitive photo-microcalorimetric system successfully captured the impacts of the light wavelength and strength on the thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of the In-situ growth of Rhodopseudomonas palustris, a representative photosynthetic microorganism. To our best knowledge, this is the first time that… More >

Highway Cost Prediction Based on LSSVM Optimized by Intial Parameters

    Xueqing Wang1, Shuang Liu1,*, Lejun Zhang2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 259-269, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014343

Abstract The cost of highway is affected by many factors. Its composition and calculation are complicated and have great ambiguity. Calculating the cost of highway according to the traditional highway engineering estimation method is a completely tedious task. Constructing a highway cost prediction model can forecast the value promptly and improve the accuracy of highway engineering cost. This work sorts out and collects 60 sets of measured data of highway engineering; establishes an expressway cost index system based on 10 factors, including main route mileage, roadbed width, roadbed earthwork, and number of bridges; and processes the data through principal component analysis… More >

Abstract The purpose of this research is to obtain the optimum cutting parameters to achieve the dimensional accuracy of Nimonic alloy miniature gear manufactured using Wire EDM. The cutting parameters investigated in this study are current, pulse on time (PON), pulse off time (POFF), wire tension (WT) and dielectric fluids. Ethylene glycol, nanopowder of alumina and oxygen are mixed to demineralized water to prepare novel dielectric fluids. Deviation in inner diameter, deviation in outer diameter, deviation in land and deviation in tooth width are considered to check the dimensional accuracy. Taguchi L16 is employed for experimental design and multiple response optimization… More >

Topological Design of Microstructures of Materials Containing Multiple Phases of Distinct Poisson’s Ratios

    Kai Long1,*, Xiaoyu Yang1, Nouman Saeed1, Zhuo Chen1, Yi Min Xie2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.1, pp. 293-310, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.012734

Abstract A methodology for achieving the maximum bulk or shear modulus in an elastic composite composed of two isotropic phases with distinct Poisson’s ratios is proposed. A topology optimization algorithm is developed which is capable of nding microstructures with extreme properties very close to theoretical upper bounds. The effective mechanical properties of the designed composite are determined by a numerical homogenization technique. The sensitivities with respect to design variables are derived by simultaneously interpolating Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio using different parameters. The so-called solid isotropic material with penalization method is developed to establish the optimization formulation. Maximum bulk or shear… More >

Kriging Surrogate-Based Genetic Algorithm Optimization for Blade Design of a Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine

    Nantiwat Pholdee1, Sujin Bureerat1, Weerapon Nuantong2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.1, pp. 261-273, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.012349

Abstract Horizontal axis wind turbines are some of the most widely used clean energy generators in the world. Horizontal axis wind turbine blades need to be designed for optimization in order to maximize efficiency and simultaneously minimize the cost of energy. This work presents the optimization of new MEXICO blades for a horizontal axis wind turbine at the wind speed of 10 m/s. The optimization problem is posed to maximize the power coefficient while the design variables are twist angles on the blade radius and rotating axis positions on a chord length of the airfoils. Computational fluid dynamics was used for… More >

Yujie Bao, Pincheng Wang*, Yuhang Li

Journal of Information Hiding and Privacy Protection, Vol.2, No.3, pp. 143-154, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jihpp.2020.09759

Abstract When big trucks are running at urban road intersections, they are easy to interfere with other motor vehicles, and the turning big trucks are easy to have conflicts with non-motor vehicles and pedestrians, which will affect the safety of intersections. This paper first studied the intersection of trucks to the running trajectory, on this basis, through the establishment of mathematical model analysis of large truck steering conditions inside the wheel, and the influence of blind area to the driver. In the research of intersection safety design, the safety design is divided into three parts: Entrance road, internal operation and signal… More >

Tianyu Wang, Yu Xue, Yan Zhao, Yuxiang Wang*, Yan Zhang, Yuxiang He

Journal of Information Hiding and Privacy Protection, Vol.2, No.3, pp. 135-142, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jihpp.2020.010362

Abstract In the field of data mining and machine learning, clustering is a typical issue which has been widely studied by many researchers, and lots of effective algorithms have been proposed, including K-means, fuzzy c-means (FCM) and DBSCAN. However, the traditional clustering methods are easily trapped into local optimum. Thus, many evolutionary-based clustering methods have been investigated. Considering the effectiveness of brain storm optimization (BSO) in increasing the diversity while the diversity optimization is performed, in this paper, we propose a new clustering model based on BSO to use the global ability of BSO. In our experiment, we apply the novel… More >

    Youxin Li*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.6, pp. 1129-1145, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.09437

Abstract In order to explore the impact of different structural design parameters and environmental factors on the performance of the hydrostatic guide rail, the flow field inside its oil chamber is simulated, which provides direction and guidance for the design and optimization of the guide rail system. Based on the theory of fluid lubrication and the Reynolds equation, numerical simulations are performed through a mathematical model. The results suggest that the bearing capacity of the oil film increases with the oil supply pressure. The film thickness and the film stiffness share a positive correlation. Different oil film thickness and different input… More >
