Hongling Ye*, Zonghan Li, Nan Wei, Pengfei Su, Yunkang Sui

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.1, pp. 297-314, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016133 - 28 June 2021

Abstract Fatigue failure is a common failure mode under the action of cyclic loads in engineering applications, which often occurs with no obvious signal. The maximum structural stress is far below the allowable stress when the structures are damaged. Aiming at the lightweight structure, fatigue topology optimization design is investigated to avoid the occurrence of fatigue failure in the structural conceptual design beforehand. Firstly, the fatigue life is expressed by topology variables and the fatigue life filter function. The continuum fatigue optimization model is established with the independent continuous mapping (ICM) method. Secondly, fatigue life constraints More >

    Jianqiang Xiong*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 555-567, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.015429 - 29 April 2021

Abstract A robust optimization design method is proposed to investigate the influence of the hook position on the vertical vibration (bending) of an automobile exhaust system. A block diagram for the robustness analysis of the exhaust system is initially constructed from the major affecting factors. Secondly, the second-order inertia force is set as the vibration excitation source of the exhaust system and the displacement of four hooks of the exhaust system is selected as the variable factor. Then tests are carried out to investigate the resulting vertical bending considering four influencing factors and three levels of More >

Yujie Bao, Pincheng Wang*, Yuhang Li

    Journal of Information Hiding and Privacy Protection, Vol.2, No.3, pp. 143-154, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jihpp.2020.09759 - 18 December 2020

Abstract When big trucks are running at urban road intersections, they are easy to interfere with other motor vehicles, and the turning big trucks are easy to have conflicts with non-motor vehicles and pedestrians, which will affect the safety of intersections. This paper first studied the intersection of trucks to the running trajectory, on this basis, through the establishment of mathematical model analysis of large truck steering conditions inside the wheel, and the influence of blind area to the driver. In the research of intersection safety design, the safety design is divided into three parts: Entrance… More >

    Jiejiang Zhu1, *, Bolun Zhou1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.1, pp. 365-383, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06655

Abstract The eagle strategy algorithm is combined with particle swarm optimization in this paper. The new algorithm, denoted as the ES-PSO, is implemented by interfacing Etabs structural analysis codes. ES-PSO is used to optimize the RC ribbed floor system, including floor and underground garage roof. By considering the effects of reinforcement, the principle of virtual work is applied to calculate the deflections of components. Construction cost is taken as the objective function and the constraint conditions are required to satisfy. Accordingly, the optimal layout, the optimal sections of the beams and slabs and the corresponding reinforcements More >

Xiaolei Denga,b,c,*, Jin Wangd , Hongcheng Shena, Jinyu Zhoua, Jianchen Wanga,c, Changxiong Xiea, Jianzhong Fub

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-6, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.13

Abstract A hybrid cellular automaton model combined with a finite element method for thermal topology optimization of spindle structure is developed. The higher order 8-node element and von Neumann strategy are employed for the finite element and the cellular element, respectively. The local sensitivity filtering algorithm and the weight approach are applied. The four validating studies of two-dimensional structure for thermal topology optimization are carried out. The structure evolution and thermal distribution evolution of thermal topology optimization are investigated. The results show the developed hybrid method is more efficient for thermal topology optimization. Meanwhile, the thermal More >

    Peng Tian1, Jun Huang1, Weidong Shi1,2,*, Ling Zhou1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.2, pp. 139-151, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.05216

Abstract A prototype centrifugal pump with a specific speed of 110 is used to investigate and optimize the performances of a turbine for power generation. Particular attention is given to the design of the internal impeller. The internal flow field is simulated in the framework of a commercial computational fluid dynamics software (ANSYS). Four geometrical parameters of the impeller are considered, i.e., the inlet diameter, the inlet width, the blade number, and the blade angle. The optimization is carried out on the basis of a three-level approach relying on an orthogonal test method. The results of More >

    F.Y.Li1,2, G.Y.Li1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.15, No.3, pp. 199-220, 2010, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2010.015.199

Abstract In this paper, an uncertain multi-objective optimization method is suggested to deal with crashworthiness design problem of vehicle, in which the uncertainties of the parameters are described by intervals. Considering both lightweight and safety performance, structural weight and peak acceleration are selected as objectives. The occupant distance is treated as constraint. Based on interval number programming method, the uncertain optimization problem is transformed into a deterministic optimization problem. The approximation models are constructed for objective functions and constraint based on Latin Hypercube Design (LHD). Thus, the interval number programming method is combined with the approximation More >

    Juan Zheng1,2,3, Shuyao Long1,2, Yuanbo Xiong1,2, Guangyao Li1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.42, No.1, pp. 19-34, 2009, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2009.042.019

Abstract In this paper, the finite volume meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method (FVMLPG) is applied to carry out a topology optimization design for the continuum structures. In FVMLPG method, the finite volume method is combined with the meshless local Petrov-Galekin method, and both strains as well as displacements are independently interpolated, at randomly distributed points in a local domain, using the moving least squares (MLS) approximation. The nodal values of strains are expressed in terms of the independently interpolated nodal values of displacements, by simple enforcing the strain-displacement relationships directly. Considering the relative density of nodes as More >

Abstract In this paper, the meshless radial point interpolation method (RPIM) is applied to carry out a topology optimization design for the continuum structure. Considering the relative density of nodes as a design variable, and the minimization of compliance as an objective function, the mathematical formulation of the topology optimization design is developed using the SIMP (solid isotropic microstructures with penalization) interpolation scheme. The topology optimization problem is solved by the optimality criteria method. Numerical examples show that the proposed approach is feasible and efficient for the topology optimization design for the continuum structure, and can More >
