    F. L. Konga,b, L. Zhangc, W. J. Zhaod, D. S. Zhengb, T. J. Suib, G. L. Zhua, C. A. Guoa,*

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.21, No.8, pp. 665-674, 2024, DOI:10.15251/CL.2024.218.665

Abstract A Ni/C-MoS2 coating was electrospark deposited by using an electrode made of sinered Ni-C-MoS2 composite on a CrNi3MoVA steel substrate, and its nano-mechanical properties and tribological properties were obtained by utilizing nano-indenter and friction-abrasion testing machine. The results showed that the phase constitution of the as-deposited Ni/C-MoS2 coating mainly includes graphite, MoS2, γ-Ni, MoO2, NixS and MoC. Compared with the CrNi3MoVA steel and Ni/MoS2 coating, the Ni/C-MoS2 coating exhibits better tribological properties due to the matrix strengthened by MoO2 and MoC, and the synergistic lubrication effect of graphite and MoS2 in the Ni/C-MoS2 coating. BIOCELL, Vol.48, No.12, pp. 1735-1749, 2024, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2024.056272 - 30 December 2024

Abstract Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia. In recent times, an elevated risk of Parkinson’s disease (PD) development among individuals with T2DM has become evident. However, the molecular mechanisms that underpin the interplay between T2DM and the pathogenesis of PD remain to be elucidated. Nevertheless, recent epidemiological studies have underscored several shared molecular pathways that are crucial for normal cellular function and are also associated with the progression and etiology of both T2DM and PD. This review encapsulates some of the shared pathophysiological mechanisms, including genetic risk factors, More >

    MOHAMMAD-SADEGH LOTFI, FATEMEH B. RASSOULI*

    BIOCELL, Vol.48, No.10, pp. 1419-1428, 2024, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2024.053597 - 02 October 2024

Abstract Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the fastest-growing neurodegenerative disorders worldwide. So far, PD treatments only offer little clinical relief and cannot reverse or stop the disease progression. Stem cell (SC) therapy is a rapidly evolving technology that holds significant promise for enhancing current therapeutic approaches. Adipose-derived mesenchymal SCs (AD-MSCs) have many features such as easy harvest with minimal invasive techniques, high plasticity, non-immunogenicity, and no ethical issues, which have made them suitable choices for clinical applications in regenerative research. AD-MSCs are ideal tools to treat PD, as they have the potential to differentiate into… More >

    TINGTING LIU1,#, YIWEI HAO2,#, LIFENG ZHAO2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.48, No.5, pp. 707-729, 2024, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2024.049130 - 06 May 2024

Abstract Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disease in the elderly, accounting for more than 1% of the population aged 65 years. Monogenic inheritance is relatively rare in PD, accounting for approximately 5% to 10% of PD patients, and there is a growing body of evidence suggesting that multiple genetic risk factors play a significant role in the pathogenesis of PD. Several groups have identified and reported a number of genes carrying mutations associated with affected family members. Mutated genes associated with PD are also candidates for idiopathic PD, and these genes may also carry… More >
