Yang Yang, Jun Hu, Lin Zhu*, Mengchen Pei

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.11, pp. 2835-2849, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.021840 - 29 June 2022

Abstract Space solar power station is a novel renewable energy equipment in space to provide the earth with abundant and continuous power. The Orb-shaped Membrane Energy Gathering Array, one of the alternative construction schemes in China, is promising for collecting space sunlight with a large-scale spherical concentrator. Both the structural and optical performances such as root mean square deformation, natural frequency, system mass, and sunlight blocking rate have significant influences on the system property of the concentrator. Considering the comprehensive performance of structure and optic, this paper proposes a novel mesh grid based on normal polyhedron… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract As corona virus disease (COVID-19) is still an ongoing global outbreak, countries around the world continue to take precautions and measures to control the spread of the pandemic. Because of the excessive number of infected patients and the resulting deficiency of testing kits in hospitals, a rapid, reliable, and automatic detection of COVID-19 is in extreme need to curb the number of infections. By analyzing the COVID-19 chest X-ray images, a novel metaheuristic approach is proposed based on hybrid dipper throated and particle swarm optimizers. The lung region was segmented from the original chest X-ray… More >

    Kais Tissaoui1,2,*, Sahbi Boubaker3,4, Waleed Saud Alghassab1, Taha Zaghdoudi1,5, Jamel Azibi6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 4291-4309, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028830 - 16 June 2022

Abstract The application of optimization methods to prediction issues is a continually exploring field. In line with this, this paper investigates the connectedness between the infected cases of COVID-19 and US fear index from a forecasting perspective. The complex characteristics of implied volatility risk index such as non-linearity structure, time-varying and non-stationarity motivate us to apply a nonlinear polynomial Hammerstein model with known structure and unknown parameters. We use the Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization (HPSO) tool to identify the model parameters of nonlinear polynomial Hammerstein model. Findings indicate that, following a nonlinear polynomial behaviour cascaded to More >

Email Filtering Using Hybrid Feature Selection Model

    Adel Hamdan Mohammad1,* , Sami Smadi2, Tariq Alwada’n3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.2, pp. 435-450, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020088 - 15 June 2022

Abstract Undoubtedly, spam is a serious problem, and the number of spam emails is increased rapidly. Besides, the massive number of spam emails prompts the need for spam detection techniques. Several methods and algorithms are used for spam filtering. Also, some emergent spam detection techniques use machine learning methods and feature extraction. Some methods and algorithms have been introduced for spam detecting and filtering. This research proposes two models for spam detection and feature selection. The first model is evaluated with the email spam classification dataset, which is based on reducing the number of keywords to… More >

Optimized Reinforcement Learning Based Multipath Transfer Protocol in Wireless Mesh Network

    S. Rajeswari1,*, S. A. Arunmozhi1, Y. Venkataramani2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.3, pp. 1959-1970, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.025957 - 25 May 2022

Abstract Multiple radios working on different channels are used in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) to improve network performance and reduce Energy Consumption (EC). Effective routing in Backbone WMNs is where each cross-section switch is well-organized with multiple Radio Interfaces (RI), and a subset of hubs is occupied as a gateway to the Internet. Most routing methods decrease the forward overheads by evolving one dimension, e.g., hop count and traffic proportion. With that idea, while considering these dimensions together, the complexity of the routing issue increases drastically. Consequently, an effective EC routing method considers a few performances simultaneously, More >

Bio-inspired Hybrid Feature Selection Model for Intrusion Detection

    Adel Hamdan Mohammad1,*, Tariq Alwada’n2, Omar Almomani3, Sami Smadi3, Nidhal ElOmari4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 133-150, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027475 - 18 May 2022

Abstract Intrusion detection is a serious and complex problem. Undoubtedly due to a large number of attacks around the world, the concept of intrusion detection has become very important. This research proposes a multilayer bio-inspired feature selection model for intrusion detection using an optimized genetic algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed multilayer model consists of two layers (layers 1 and 2). At layer 1, three algorithms are used for the feature selection. The algorithms used are Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), and Firefly Optimization Algorithm (FFA). At the end of layer 1, a priority value… More >

A Hybrid Neural Network-based Approach for Forecasting Water Demand

    Al-Batool Al-Ghamdi1,*, Souad Kamel2, Mashael Khayyat3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 1365-1383, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026246 - 18 May 2022

Abstract Water is a vital resource. It supports a multitude of industries, civilizations, and agriculture. However, climatic conditions impact water availability, particularly in desert areas where the temperature is high, and rain is scarce. Therefore, it is crucial to forecast water demand to provide it to sectors either on regular or emergency days. The study aims to develop an accurate model to forecast daily water demand under the impact of climatic conditions. This forecasting is known as a multivariate time series because it uses both the historical data of water demand and climatic conditions to forecast… More >

Optimizing the Multi-Objective Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm by Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient Algorithm

    Sun Yang-Yang, Yao Jun-Ping*, Li Xiao-Jun, Fan Shou-Xiang, Wang Zi-Wei

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.4, No.1, pp. 27-35, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jai.2022.027839 - 16 May 2022

Abstract Deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) has been proved to be effective in optimizing particle swarm optimization (PSO), but whether DDPG can optimize multi-objective discrete particle swarm optimization (MODPSO) remains to be determined. The present work aims to probe into this topic. Experiments showed that the DDPG can not only quickly improve the convergence speed of MODPSO, but also overcome the problem of local optimal solution that MODPSO may suffer. The research findings are of great significance for the theoretical research and application of MODPSO. More >

    S. Lakshmi Narayanan*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 931-946, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022459 - 09 May 2022

Abstract The main aim of this work is to improve the security of data hiding for secret image sharing. The privacy and security of digital information have become a primary concern nowadays due to the enormous usage of digital technology. The security and the privacy of users’ images are ensured through reversible data hiding techniques. The efficiency of the existing data hiding techniques did not provide optimum performance with multiple end nodes. These issues are solved by using Separable Data Hiding and Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (SDHAPSO) algorithm to attain optimal performance. Image encryption, data embedding,… More >
