    Rihem Farkh1,2, Yasser Fouad1,*, Haykel Marouani1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.3, pp. 837-851, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.018214

Abstract In industrial practice, certain processes are unstable, such as different types of reactors, distillation columns, and combustion systems. To ensure greater maneuverability and improve the speed of response command, certain systems in the military and aviation fields are purposely configured to be unstable. These systems are often more difficult to control than stable systems and are of particular interest to designers and control engineers. Despite all advances in process control over the past six decades, the proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller is still the most common. The main reasons are the simplicity, robustness, and successful applications provided by PID-based control structures. The… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.3, pp. 1033-1067, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015885

Abstract In many civil engineering projects, Piled Raft Foundations (PRFs) are usually preferred where the incoming load from the superstructures is very high. In geotechnical engineering practice, the settlement of soil layers is a critical issue for the serviceability of the structures. Thus, assessment of risk associated with the structures corresponding to the maximum allowable settlement of soils needs to be carried out in the design phase. In this study, reliability analysis of PRF based on settlement criteria is performed using a high-performance hybrid soft computing model. The new approach is an integration of the artificial neural network (ANN) and a… More >

    Yu Xue1,*, Asma Aouari1, Romany F. Mansour2, Shoubao Su3

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.3, No.2, pp. 117-124, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2021.017018

Abstract One of the main problems of machine learning and data mining is to develop a basic model with a few features, to reduce the algorithms involved in classification’s computational complexity. In this paper, the collection of features has an essential importance in the classification process to be able minimize computational time, which decreases data size and increases the precision and effectiveness of specific machine learning activities. Due to its superiority to conventional optimization methods, several metaheuristics have been used to resolve FS issues. This is why hybrid metaheuristics help increase the search and convergence rate of the critical algorithms. A… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 65-80, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016140

Abstract Intrusion detection is an important topic that aims at protecting computer systems. Besides, feature selection is crucial for increasing the performance of intrusion detection. This paper employs a new hybrid feature selection model for intrusion detection. The implemented model uses Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms in a new manner. In addition, this study introduces two new models called (PSO-GWO-NB) and (PSO-GWO-ANN) for feature selection and intrusion detection. PSO and GWO show emergent results in feature selection for several purposes and applications. This paper uses PSO and GWO to select features for the intrusion detection system.… More >

    Weiping Luo1,2, Dajun Yuan1,2, Dalong Jin1,2,*, Ping Lu1,2, Jian Chen3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.1, pp. 109-127, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015683

Abstract The control of slurry pressure aiming to be consistent with the external water and earth pressure during shield tunnelling has great significance for face stability, especially in urban areas or underwater where the surrounding environment is very sensitive to the fluctuation of slurry pressure. In this study, an optimal control method for slurry pressure during shield tunnelling is developed, which is composed of an identifier and a controller. The established identifier based on the random forest (RF) can describe the complex non-linear relationship between slurry pressure and its influencing factors. The proposed controller based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) can… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.2, pp. 451-465, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016088

Abstract The fast-growing field of mechanical robotization necessitates a well-designed and controlled version of electric drives. The concept of control concerning mechanical characteristics also requires a methodology in which the system needs to be modeled precisely and deals with uncertainty. The proposed method provides the enhanced performance of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) by controlling its speed and minimized torque ripple. Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers have drawn more attention in industry automation due to their ease and robustness. The performances are further improved by using fractional order (Non-integer) controllers. The Modified Particle Swarm Optimization (MPSO) based optimization approach is employed to acquire the… More >

Automatic PSO Based Path Generation Technique for Data Flow Coverage

    Ahmed S. Ghiduk1,*, Moheb R. Girgis3, Eman Hassan2,4, Sultan Aljahdali1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.1, pp. 147-164, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.015708

Abstract Path-based testing involves two main steps: 1) finding all paths throughout the code under test; 2) creating a test suite to cover these paths. Unfortunately, covering all paths in the code under test is impossible. Path-based testing could be achieved by targeting a subset of all feasible paths that satisfy a given testing criterion. Then, a test suite is created to execute this paths subset. Generating those paths is a key problem in path testing. In this paper, a new path testing technique is presented. This technique employs Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for generating a set of paths to satisfy… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3101-3119, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016489

Abstract Parkinson’s disease is a neurogenerative disorder and it is difficult to diagnose as no therapies may slow down its progression. This paper contributes a novel analytic system for Parkinson’s Disease Prediction mechanism using Improved Radial Basis Function Neural Network (IRBFNN). Particle swarm optimization (PSO) with K-means is used to find the hidden neuron’s centers to improve the accuracy of IRBFNN. The performance of RBFNN is seriously affected by the centers of hidden neurons. Conventionally K-means was used to find the centers of hidden neurons. The problem of sensitiveness to the random initial centroid in K-means degrades the performance of RBFNN.… More >

    Haibo Liu1,*, Yujie Dong2, Fuzhong Wang1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.3, pp. 679-689, 2021, DOI: 10.32604/EE.2021.014630

Abstract For the problems of nonlinearity, uncertainty and low prediction accuracy in the gas outburst prediction of coal mining face, the least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) is proposed to establish the prediction model. Firstly, considering the inertia coefficients as global parameters lacks the ability to improve the solution for the traditional particle swarm optimization (PSO), an improved PSO (IPSO) algorithm is introduced to adjust different inertia weights in updating the particle swarm and solve the fitness to stagnate. Secondly, the penalty factor and kernel function parameter of LSSVM are searched automatically, and the regression accuracy and generalization performance is enhanced… More >
