    A.K. GHOSH1, RUTUJA S. BHOJE2, R.C. BINDAL1

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.37, No.1-2, pp. 109-120, 2020, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2020.37.1-2.8

Abstract In this study, cellulose triacetate (CTA) based nanocomposite membranes were developed by incorporation of carboxylic acid functionalized multiwalled carbon-nanotube (cMWCNT) and graphene oxide (GO) which have enhancement of both flux and fouling resistance properties of the membranes. Membranes were casted at room temperature and annealed at 90o C hot water for 10 minutes. The incorporation level of both the nanomaterials is 1.5% of the CTA polymer weight in the nanocomposite membranes. Prepared membranes were characterized in terms of water contact angle, surface morphology and mechanical strength. The performance of the membranes was evaluated both in reverse osmosis (RO) and forward… More >

    A. Valan Arasua,*, Agus P. Sasmitob,†, Arun S. Mujumdarb

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.2, No.4, pp. 1-7, 2011, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v2.4.3005

Abstract The heat transfer enhancement of paraffin wax, a cheap and widely used latent heat thermal energy storage material, using nanoparticles is investigated. The effects of nanoparticle volume fraction on both the melting and solidification rates of paraffin wax are analysed and compared for Al2O3 and CuO nanoparticles. Present results show that dispersing nanoparticles in smaller volumetric fractions increase the heat transfer rate. The enhancement in thermal performance of paraffin wax is greater for Al2O3 compared with that for CuO nanoparticles. More >

    Muhammad Ali, Minhaj Ahmad Khan*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.2, pp. 287-303, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.043010

Abstract The Extensible Markup Language (XML) files, widely used for storing and exchanging information on the web require efficient parsing mechanisms to improve the performance of the applications. With the existing Document Object Model (DOM) based parsing, the performance degrades due to sequential processing and large memory requirements, thereby requiring an efficient XML parser to mitigate these issues. In this paper, we propose a Parallel XML Tree Generator (PXTG) algorithm for accelerating the parsing of XML files and a Regression-based XML Parsing Framework (RXPF) that analyzes and predicts performance through profiling, regression, and code generation for efficient parsing. The PXTG algorithm… More >

    Xiaojie Jiang1, Xin Li1, Yining Xu1, Dong Sun1, Julien S. Baker2, Yaodong Gu1,3,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.20, No.2, pp. 67-79, 2023, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2023.042910

    Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate whether kinematic data during a countermovement jump (CMJ) could explain the post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) effects following acute resistance exercise. Twenty-four male participants with resistance training and jumping experience were recruited and randomly assigned to either the experimental group (PAPE-stimulus) (n = 12) or the control group (n = 12). In the experimental group, participants performed 5 reps of squats at 80% 1RM to induce PAPE, while the control group received no intervention. Both groups performed three CMJ tests before (PRE) and at immediate (POST0), 4 (POST4), 8 (POST8), and 12 (POST12)… More > Graphic Abstract

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, pp. 1-7, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.10

Abstract To reduce the energy consumption in air-conditioning systems without changing the required temperature level in the air-conditioned space, Heat Pipe Heat Exchanger (HPHE) has been experimentally used and tested. The heat pipe has been filled with working fluid by about 50% of the volume of the evaporator which represents the filling ratio. In this research, three mass concentration of nanoparticle from copper oxide (CuO), 1wt%, 3wt% and 5wt% have been used and studied. Additionally, its effect on the HPHE effectiveness and the heat recovery ratio at different inlet air temperatures, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55 °C, have been… More >

SRResNet Performance Enhancement Using Patch Inputs and Partial Convolution-Based Padding

    Safi Ullah1,2, Seong-Ho Song1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 2999-3014, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032326

Abstract Due to highly underdetermined nature of Single Image Super-Resolution (SISR) problem, deep learning neural networks are required to be more deeper to solve the problem effectively. One of deep neural networks successful in the Super-Resolution (SR) problem is ResNet which can render the capability of deeper networks with the help of skip connections. However, zero padding (ZP) scheme in the network restricts benefits of skip connections in SRResNet and its performance as the ratio of the number of pure input data to that of zero padded data increases. In this paper. we consider the ResNet with Partial Convolution based Padding… More >

Abstract Minimizing the energy consumption to increase the life span and performance of multiprocessor system on chip (MPSoC) has become an integral chip design issue for multiprocessor systems. The performance measurement of computational systems is changing with the advancement in technology. Due to shrinking and smaller chip size power densities on-chip are increasing rapidly that increasing chip temperature in multi-core embedded technologies. The operating speed of the device decreases when power consumption reaches a threshold that causes a delay in complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuits because high on-chip temperature adversely affects the life span of the chip. Performance Enhancement of Adaptive Neural Networks Based on Learning Rate

    Swaleha Zubair1, Anjani Kumar Singha1, Nitish Pathak2, Neelam Sharma3, Shabana Urooj4,*, Samia Rabeh Larguech4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 2005-2019, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031481

Abstract Deep learning is the process of determining parameters that reduce the cost function derived from the dataset. The optimization in neural networks at the time is known as the optimal parameters. To solve optimization, it initialize the parameters during the optimization process. There should be no variation in the cost function parameters at the global minimum. The momentum technique is a parameters optimization approach; however, it has difficulties stopping the parameter when the cost function value fulfills the global minimum (non-stop problem). Moreover, existing approaches use techniques; the learning rate is reduced during the iteration period. These techniques are monotonically… More >

Abstract A solubility model for Merocyanine-540 dye together with the interface's electron transfer kinetics of MC-540/TiO2 has been investigated (Merocyanine 540-based dye has been used effectively in dye-sensitized solar cells). The highest absorption peaks were recorded at 489 nm and 493 nm in Water and Ethanol solvent, versus the vacuum phase which yielded 495 nm (associated with a modest electron injection-free energy value (ΔGinj) of -2.34 eV for both Water and Ethanol solvents). The time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) method approach has been applied in this simulation. Additionally, the electronic structure and simulated UV-Vis spectra of the dye in different solvents… More > Graphic Abstract
