Abstract Software reliability is the primary concern of software development organizations, and the exponentially increasing demand for reliable software requires modeling techniques to be developed in the present era. Small unnoticeable drifts in the software can culminate into a disaster. Early removal of these errors helps the organization improve and enhance the software’s reliability and save money, time, and effort. Many soft computing techniques are available to get solutions for critical problems but selecting the appropriate technique is a big challenge. This paper proposed an efficient algorithm that can be used for the prediction of software… More >

Abstract The study of optimization methods for reliability–redundancy allocation problems is a constantly changing field. New algorithms are continually being designed on the basis of observations of nature, wildlife, and humanity. In this paper, we review eight major evolutionary algorithms that emulate the behavior of civilization, ants, bees, fishes, and birds (i.e., genetic algorithms, bee colony optimization, simulated annealing, particle swarm optimization, biogeography-based optimization, artificial immune system optimization, cuckoo algorithm and imperialist competitive algorithm). We evaluate the mathematical formulations and pseudo-codes of each algorithm and discuss how these apply to reliability–redundancy allocation problems. Results from a More >

    Baili Zhang1, Keke Ling1,*, Pei Zhang2,3, Zhao Zhang2,3, Mingjun Zhong4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.2, pp. 699-715, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020193 - 25 October 2021

Abstract Calculating the most reliable maximum flow (MRMF) from the edge cache node to the requesting node can provide an important reference for selecting the best edge cache node in a content delivery network (CDN). However, SDBA, as the current state-of-the-art MRMF algorithm, is too complex to meet real-time computing needs. This paper proposes a set of MRMF algorithms: NWCD (Negative Weight Community Deletion), SCPDAT (Single-Cycle Preference Deletion Approximation algorithm with Time constraint) and SCPDAP (Single-Cycle Preference Deletion Approximation algorithm with Probability constraint). NWCD draws on the “flow-shifting” algorithm of minimum cost and maximum flow, and… More >

Abstract Recently, Multicore systems use Dynamic Voltage/Frequency Scaling (DV/FS) technology to allow the cores to operate with various voltage and/or frequencies than other cores to save power and enhance the performance. In this paper, an effective and reliable hybrid model to reduce the energy and makespan in multicore systems is proposed. The proposed hybrid model enhances and integrates the greedy approach with dynamic programming to achieve optimal Voltage/Frequency (Vmin/F) levels. Then, the allocation process is applied based on the available workloads. The hybrid model consists of three stages. The first stage gets the optimum safe voltage More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 5929-5948, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020546 - 11 October 2021

Abstract Due to the advancement in wireless technology and miniaturization, Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) have gained enormous popularity, having various applications, especially in the healthcare sector. WBANs are intrinsically resource-constrained; therefore, they have specific design and development requirements. One such highly desirable requirement is an energy-efficient and reliable Data Aggregation (DA) mechanism for WBANs. The efficient and reliable DA may ultimately push the network to operate without much human intervention and further extend the network lifetime. The conventional client-server DA paradigm becomes unsuitable and inefficient for WBANs when a large amount of data is generated… More >

Abstract Software-defined networking (SDN) plays a critical role in transforming networking from traditional to intelligent networking. The increasing demand for services from cloud users has increased the load on the network. An efficient system must handle various loads and increasing needs representing the relationships and dependence of businesses on automated measurement systems and guarantee the quality of service (QoS). The multiple paths from source to destination give a scope to select an optimal path by maintaining an equilibrium of load using some best algorithms. Moreover, the requests need to be transferred to reliable network elements. To… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.2, pp. 1029-1049, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016945 - 08 October 2021

Abstract Turbine blisks are assembled using blades, disks and casings. They can endure complex loads at a high temperature, high pressure and high speed. The safe operation of assembled structures depends on the reliability of each component. Monte Carlo (MC) simulation is commonly used to analyze structural reliability, but this method needs to run thousands of computations. In order to assess the clearance reliability of assembled structures in an efficient and precise manner, the novel Kriging-based decomposed-coordinated (DC) (DCNK) approach is proposed by integrating the DC strategy, the Kriging model and the importance sampling-based Markov chain… More >
