Localized Necking and Bulging of Finitely Deformed Residually Stressed Solid Cylinder

    Yang Liu1,*, Luis Dorfmann2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09499

Abstract In this talk, we present some analytical results concerning localized instabilities in stretched soft cylinders with residual-stress effect. Within the framework of finite elasticity, a bifurcation analysis is carried out based on the incremental theory. It is found that with the residual stress effect taken into consideration additional singularities of the incremental equations appear. To overcome this difficulty we apply the Stroh formulism and an expansion methodology and derive a bifurcation condition. Then we consider three loading scenarios and perform a detailed analysis of the bifurcation behaviors. It turns out that the zero mode, giving rise to localization, is always… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3895-3920, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.045244

Abstract Diagnosing gastrointestinal cancer by classical means is a hazardous procedure. Years have witnessed several computerized solutions for stomach disease detection and classification. However, the existing techniques faced challenges, such as irrelevant feature extraction, high similarity among different disease symptoms, and the least-important features from a single source. This paper designed a new deep learning-based architecture based on the fusion of two models, Residual blocks and Auto Encoder. First, the Hyper-Kvasir dataset was employed to evaluate the proposed work. The research selected a pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) model and improved it with several residual blocks. This process aims to improve… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2383-2401, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029249

Abstract Finite element (FE) coupled thermal-mechanical analysis is widely used to predict the deformation and residual stress of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) parts. In this study, an innovative single-layer multi-bead profile geometric modeling method through the isosceles trapezoid function is proposed to build the FE model of the WAAM process. Firstly, a straight-line model for overlapping beads based on the parabola function was established to calculate the optimal center distance. Then, the isosceles trapezoid-based profile was employed to replace the parabola profiles of the parabola-based overlapping model to establish an innovative isosceles trapezoid-based multi-bead overlapping geometric model. The rationality of… More >

    Dengyong Zhang1,2, Minzhi Yuan1,2, Feng Li1,2, Lebing Zhang3,*, Yanqiang Sun4, Yiming Ling5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2809-2824, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029181

Abstract Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal is one of the noninvasive physiological measurement techniques commonly used in cardiac diagnosis. However, in real scenarios, the ECG signal is susceptible to various noise erosion, which affects the subsequent pathological analysis. Therefore, the effective removal of the noise from ECG signals has become a top priority in cardiac diagnostic research. Aiming at the problem of incomplete signal shape retention and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) after denoising, a novel ECG denoising network, named attention-based residual dense shrinkage network (ARDSN), is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the shallow ECG characteristics are extracted by a shallow feature extraction network… More >

Fine-Grained Classification of Remote Sensing Ship Images Based on Improved VAN

Guoqing Zhou, Liang Huang, Qiao Sun*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.2, pp. 1985-2007, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040902

Abstract The remote sensing ships’ fine-grained classification technology makes it possible to identify certain ship types in remote sensing images, and it has broad application prospects in civil and military fields. However, the current model does not examine the properties of ship targets in remote sensing images with mixed multi-granularity features and a complicated backdrop. There is still an opportunity for future enhancement of the classification impact. To solve the challenges brought by the above characteristics, this paper proposes a Metaformer and Residual fusion network based on Visual Attention Network (VAN-MR) for fine-grained classification tasks. For the complex background of remote… More >

Dynamics along the epithelial-cancer biointerface: Hidden system complexities

    IVANA PAJIC-LIJAKOVIC*, MILAN MILIVOJEVIC

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.11, pp. 2321-2334, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.043796

Abstract The biointerface dynamics influence any cancer spreading through the epithelium since it is documented in the early stages some malignancies (like epithelial cancer). The altered rearrangement of epithelial cells has an impact on the development of cancer. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehend the underlying biological and physical mechanisms of this biointerface dynamics for early suppression of cancer. While the biological mechanisms include cell signaling and gene expression, the physical mechanisms are several physical parameters such as the epithelial-cancer interfacial tension, epithelial surface tension, and compressive stress accumulated within the epithelium. Although the segregation of epithelia-cancer co-cultured systems was widely… More > Graphic Abstract

Gated Fusion Based Transformer Model for Crack Detection on Wind Turbine Blade

    Wenyang Tang1,2, Cong Liu1,*, Bo Zhang2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.11, pp. 2667-2681, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.040743

Abstract Harsh working environments and wear between blades and other unit components can easily lead to cracks and damage on wind turbine blades. The cracks on the blades can endanger the shafting of the generator set, the tower and other components, and even cause the tower to collapse. To achieve high-precision wind blade crack detection, this paper proposes a crack fault-detection strategy that integrates Gated Residual Network (GRN), a fusion module and Transformer. Firstly, GRN can reduce unnecessary noisy inputs that could negatively impact performance while preserving the integrity of feature information. In addition, to gain in-depth information about the characteristics… More >

Jie Zhang, Jianxun Zhang*, Bowen Li, Jie Cao, Yifan Guo

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.3, pp. 2883-2895, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.039805

Abstract With the improvement of image editing technology, the threshold of image tampering technology decreases, which leads to a decrease in the authenticity of image content. This has also driven research on image forgery detection techniques. In this paper, a U-Net with multiple sensory field feature extraction (MSCU-Net) for image forgery detection is proposed. The proposed MSCU-Net is an end-to-end image essential attribute segmentation network that can perform image forgery detection without any pre-processing or post-processing. MSCU-Net replaces the single-scale convolution module in the original network with an improved multiple perceptual field convolution module so that the decoder can synthesize the… More >
