Identification and Classification of Multiple Power Quality Disturbances Using a Parallel Algorithm and Decision Rules

Nagendra Kumar Swarnkar1, Om Prakash Mahela2, Baseem Khan3,*, Mahendra Lalwani1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 473-497, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.017703

Abstract A multiple power quality (MPQ) disturbance has two or more power quality (PQ) disturbances superimposed on a voltage signal. A compact and robust technique is required to identify and classify the MPQ disturbances. This manuscript investigated a hybrid algorithm which is designed using parallel processing of voltage with multiple power quality (MPQ) disturbance using stockwell transform (ST) and hilbert transform (HT). This will reduce the computational time to identify the MPQ disturbances, which makes the algorithm fast. A MPQ identification index (IPI) is computed using statistical features extracted from the voltage signal using the ST and HT. IPI has different… More >

    Talha Mahboob Alam1,*, Kamran Shaukat2,6, Adel Khelifi3, Wasim Ahmad Khan4, Hafiz Muhammad Ehtisham Raza5, Muhammad Idrees6, Suhuai Luo2, Ibrahim A. Hameed7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 5305-5319, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020344

Abstract Disease diagnosis is a challenging task due to a large number of associated factors. Uncertainty in the diagnosis process arises from inaccuracy in patient attributes, missing data, and limitation in the medical expert's ability to define cause and effect relationships when there are multiple interrelated variables. This paper aims to demonstrate an integrated view of deploying smart disease diagnosis using the Internet of Things (IoT) empowered by the fuzzy inference system (FIS) to diagnose various diseases. The Fuzzy System is one of the best systems to diagnose medical conditions because every disease diagnosis involves many uncertainties, and fuzzy logic is… More >

Scheduling Multi-Mode Resource-Constrained Projects Using Heuristic Rules Under Uncertainty Environment

    Mohamed Abdel-Basset1, Ahmed Sleem1, Asmaa Atef1, Yunyoung Nam2,*, Mohamed Abouhawwash3,4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 847-874, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.017106

Abstract Project scheduling is a key objective of many models and is the proposed method for project planning and management. Project scheduling problems depend on precedence relationships and resource constraints, in addition to some other limitations for achieving a subset of goals. Project scheduling problems are dependent on many limitations, including limitations of precedence relationships, resource constraints, and some other limitations for achieving a subset of goals. Deterministic project scheduling models consider all information about the scheduling problem such as activity durations and precedence relationships information resources available and required, which are known and stable during the implementation process. The concept… More >

Extraction of Opinion Target Using Syntactic Rules in Urdu Text

    Toqir A. Rana1,*, Bahrooz Bakht1, Mehtab Afzal1, Natash Ali Mian2, Muhammad Waseem Iqbal3, Abbas Khalid1, Muhammad Raza Naqvi4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.3, pp. 839-853, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.018572

Abstract Opinion target or aspect extraction is the key task of aspect-based sentiment analysis. This task focuses on the extraction of targeted words or phrases against which a user has expressed his/her opinion. Although, opinion target extraction has been studied extensively in the English language domain, with notable work in other languages such as Chinese, Arabic etc., other regional languages have been neglected. One of the reasons is the lack of resources and available texts for these languages. Urdu is one, with millions of native and non-native speakers across the globe. In this paper, the Urdu language domain is focused on… More >

CARM: Context Based Association Rule Mining for Conventional Data

    Muhammad Shaheen1,*, Umair Abdullah2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3305-3322, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016766

Abstract This paper is aimed to develop an algorithm for extracting association rules, called Context-Based Association Rule Mining algorithm (CARM), which can be regarded as an extension of the Context-Based Positive and Negative Association Rule Mining algorithm (CBPNARM). CBPNARM was developed to extract positive and negative association rules from Spatio-temporal (space-time) data only, while the proposed algorithm can be applied to both spatial and non-spatial data. The proposed algorithm is applied to the energy dataset to classify a country’s energy development by uncovering the enthralling interdependencies between the set of variables to get positive and negative associations. Many association rules related… More >

    Maojian Chen1,2,3, Xiong Luo1,2,3,*, Yueqin Zhu4, Yan Li1,2,3, Wenbing Zhao5, Jinsong Wu6

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.5, pp. 973-987, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.010129

Abstract The past decade has witnessed the rapid advancements of geological data analysis techniques, which facilitates the development of modern agricultural systems. However, there remains some technical challenges that should be addressed to fully exploit the potential of those geological big data, while gathering massive amounts of data in this application field. Generally, a good representation of correlation in the geological big data is critical to making full use of multi-source geological data, while discovering the relationship in data and mining mineral prediction information. Then, in this article, a scheme is proposed towards intelligent mining of association rules for geological big… More >

Urdu Ligature Recognition System: An Evolutionary Approach

    Naila Habib Khan1,*, Awais Adnan1, Abdul Waheed2,3, Mahdi Zareei4, Abdallah Aldosary5, Ehab Mahmoud Mohamed6,7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1347-1367, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013715

Abstract Cursive text recognition of Arabic script-based languages like Urdu is extremely complicated due to its diverse and complex characteristics. Evolutionary approaches like genetic algorithms have been used in the past for various optimization as well as pattern recognition tasks, reporting exceptional results. The proposed Urdu ligature recognition system uses a genetic algorithm for optimization and recognition. Overall the proposed recognition system observes the processes of pre-processing, segmentation, feature extraction, hierarchical clustering, classification rules and genetic algorithm optimization and recognition. The pre-processing stage removes noise from the sentence images, whereas, in segmentation, the sentences are segmented into ligature components. Fifteen features… More >

    Sajjad Haider*, Muhammad Tanvir Afzal

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 481-498, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012057

Abstract Social networking platforms provide a vital source for disseminating information across the globe, particularly in case of disaster. These platforms are great mean to find out the real account of the disaster. Twitter is an example of such platform, which has been extensively utilized by scientific community due to its unidirectional model. It is considered a challenging task to identify eyewitness tweets about the incident from the millions of tweets shared by twitter users. Research community has proposed diverse sets of techniques to identify eyewitness account. A recent state-of-the-art approach has proposed a comprehensive set of features to identify eyewitness… More >
