Improved Particle Swarm Optimization for Selection of Shield Tunneling Parameter Values

    Gongyu Hou1, Zhedong Xu1,*, Xin Liu1, Cong Jin1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 317-337, 2019, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2019.04693

Abstract This article proposes an exponential adjustment inertia weight immune particle swarm optimization (EAIW-IPSO) to enhance the accuracy and reliability regarding the selection of shield tunneling parameter values. According to the iteration changes and the range of inertia weight in particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO), the inertia weight is adjusted by the form of exponential function. Meanwhile, the self-regulation mechanism of the immune system is combined with the PSO. 12 benchmark functions and the realistic cases of shield tunneling parameter value selection are utilized to demonstrate the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed EAIW-IPSO algorithm. Comparison with other improved PSO indicates… More >

    H.J. Xu1, Z.H. Ding1, Z.R. Lu1,2, J.K. Liu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.111, No.4, pp. 335-355, 2016, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2016.111.335

Abstract An optimization approach based on Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm is proposed for structural local damage detection in this study. The objective function for the damage identification problem is established by structural parameters and modal assurance criteria (MAC). The ABC algorithm is presented to solve the certain objective function. Then the Tournament Selection Strategy and chaotic search mechanism is adopted to enhance global search ability of the certain algorithm. A coupled double-beam system is studied as numerical example to illustrate the correctness and efficiency of the propose method. The simulation results show that the modified ABC algorithm can identify the… More >

Construction of an Edge Finite Element Space and a Contribution to the Mesh Selection in the Approximation of the Second Order Time Harmonic Maxwell System

    J. E. Sebold1, L. A. Lacerda2, J. A. M. Carrer3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.103, No.2, pp. 111-137, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.103.111

Abstract This work is concerned with the development of the so-called Whitney and Nédélec edge finite element method for the solution of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations. Initially, the second order time harmonic Maxwell systems, as well as their variational formulation, are presented. In the sequence, Whitney and Nédélec element spaces, whose functions present continuous tangential components along the interface are built of adjacent elements. Then, numerical experiments validate the performance of Whitney and Nédélec first order elements in a two-dimensional domain. The discrete dispersion relation for the elements shows that the numerical phase velocity can be used as an error estimator.… More >

    Robust Re-Weighted Multi-View Feature Selection

    Yiming Xue1, Nan Wang2, Yan Niu1, Ping Zhong2, ∗, Shaozhang Niu3, Yuntao Song4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.2, pp. 741-756, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05611

Abstract In practical application, many objects are described by multi-view features because multiple views can provide a more informative representation than the single view. When dealing with the multi-view data, the high dimensionality is often an obstacle as it can bring the expensive time consumption and an increased chance of over-fitting. So how to identify the relevant views and features is an important issue. The matrix-based multi-view feature selection that can integrate multiple views to select relevant feature subset has aroused widely concern in recent years. The existing supervised multi-view feature selection methods usually concatenate all views into the long vectors… More >

Social-Aware Based Secure Relay Selection in Relay-Assisted D2D Communications

    Shanshan Yu1, Ju Liu1,*, Xiaoqing Zhang1, Shangbin Wu2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.58, No.2, pp. 505-516, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.04282

Abstract Relay-assisted transmission could effectively enhance the performance of Device-to-Device (D2D) communications when D2D user equipments (UEs) are too far away from each other or the quality of D2D channel is not good enough for direct communications. Meanwhile, security is one of the major concerns for proximity services. The secure relay selection problem for D2D communications underlaying cellular network is studied in this paper. Firstly, we define a relay selection area and derive the closed-form of outage probability in D2D links using a Poisson Point Process (PPP) method. Next, in the defined relay selection area, we propose a secure relay selection… More >

Seed Selection for Data Offloading Based on Social and Interest Graphs

    Ying Li1, Jianbo Li1,*, Jianwei Chen1, Minchao Lu1, Caoyuan Li2,3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.3, pp. 571-587, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.02851

Abstract The explosive growth of mobile data demand is becoming an increasing burden on current cellular network. To address this issue, we propose a solution of opportunistic data offloading for alleviating overloaded cellular traffic. The principle behind it is to select a few important users as seeds for data sharing. The three critical steps are detailed as follows. We first explore individual interests of users by the construction of user profiles, on which an interest graph is built by Gaussian graphical modeling. We then apply the extreme value theory to threshold the encounter duration of user pairs. So, a contact graph… More >

    Jun Xie1, Chong Wang1, Jiaxiang Cai2, Fuhong Cai1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.2, pp. 261-268, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.03669

Abstract The rapid quantification method of human serum glucose was established by using the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and attenuated total reflection (ATR). By the subtracted spectra between glucose aqueous solution and de-ionized water, absorption peaks are calculated in fingerprint area. Based on these absorption peaks and multiple linear regression (MLR) model, discrete band selection method of absorption peaks disturbance model (APDM) was developed. 5 absorption peaks 1150 cm-1, 1103 cm-1, 1078 cm-1, 1034 cm-1, 991 cm-1 were found in fingerprint area. Used these absorption peaks to establish absorption peaks disturbance model, the optimal wavelength combinations are 1140 cm-1, 1096… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.55, No.3, pp. 419-433, 2018, DOI: 10.3970/cmc.2018.02289

Abstract By using efficient and timely medical diagnostic decision making, clinicians can positively impact the quality and cost of medical care. However, the high similarity of clinical manifestations between diseases and the limitation of clinicians’ knowledge both bring much difficulty to decision making in diagnosis. Therefore, building a decision support system that can assist medical staff in diagnosing and treating diseases has lately received growing attentions in the medical domain. In this paper, we employ a multi-label classification framework to classify the Chinese electronic medical records to establish corresponding relation between the medical records and disease categories, and compare this method… More >
