    Mohammed Alshehri1,*, Purushottam Sharma2, Richa Sharma2, Osama Alfarraj3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2525-2538, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.012469

Abstract Sensors and physical activity evaluation are quite limited for motion-based commercial devices. Sometimes the accelerometer of the smartwatch is utilized; walking is investigated. The combination can perform better in terms of sensors and that can be determined by sensors on both the smartwatch and phones, i.e., accelerometer and gyroscope. For biometric efficiency, some of the diverse activities of daily routine have been evaluated, also with biometric authentication. The result shows that using the different computing techniques in phones and watch for biometric can provide a suitable output based on the mentioned activities. This indicates that the high feasibility and results… More >

Monitoring of Unaccounted for Gas in Energy Domain Using Semantic Web Technologies

    Kausar Parveen1,*, Ghalib A. Shah2, Muhammad Aslam3, Amjad Farooq3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 41-56, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.013787

Abstract Smart Urbanization has increased tremendously over the last few years, and this has exacerbated problems in all areas of life, especially in the energy sector. The Internet of Things (IoT) is providing effective solutions in gas distribution, transmission and billing through very sophisticated sensory devices and software. Billions of heterogeneous devices link to each other in smart urbanization, and this has led to the Semantic interoperability (SI) problem between the connected devices. In the energy field, such as electricity and gas, several devices are interlinked. These devices are competent for their specific operational role but unable to communicate across the… More >

An Efficient Energy Routing Protocol Based on Gradient Descent Method in WSNs

Ru Jin*, Xinlian Zhou, Yue Wang

Journal of Information Hiding and Privacy Protection, Vol.2, No.3, pp. 115-123, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jihpp.2020.010180

Abstract In a wireless sensor network [1], the operation of a node depends on the battery power it carries. Because of the environmental reasons, the node cannot replace the battery. In order to improve the life cycle of the network, energy becomes one of the key problems in the design of the wireless sensor network (WSN) routing protocol [2]. This paper proposes a routing protocol ERGD based on the method of gradient descent that can minimizes the consumption of energy. Within the communication radius of the current node, the distance between the current node and the next hop node is assumed… More >

A Simulation of the Response of a Sounding Temperature Sensor Based on the Combination of a Genetic Algorithm and Computational Fluid Dynamics

Juanjuan Wang, Yajuan Jia*, Jiangping Nan

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.6, pp. 1161-1175, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.010328

Abstract The present study aims at improving the accuracy of weather forecast by providing useful information on the behavior and response of a sounding temperature sensor. A hybrid approach relying on Computational Fluid Dynamics and a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to simulate the system represented by the bead thermistor and the surrounding air. In particular, the influence of different lead angles, sensor lead length, and lead number is considered. The results have shown that when the length of the lead wire of the bead thermistor is increased, the radiation temperature rise is reduced; when the number of lead wire is… More >

An Anonymous Authentication Scheme with Controllable Linkability for Vehicle Sensor Networks

    Yousheng Zhou1,2, Lvjun Chen1, Xiaofeng Zhao1,*, Zheng Yang3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.125, No.3, pp. 1101-1118, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.013289

Abstract Vehicle sensor networks (VSN) play an increasingly important part in smart city, due to the interconnectivity of the infrastructure. However similar to other wireless communications, vehicle sensor networks are susceptible to a broad range of attacks. In addition to ensuring security for both data-at-rest and data-in-transit, it is essential to preserve the privacy of data and users in vehicle sensor networks. Many existing authentication schemes for vehicle sensor networks are generally not designed to also preserve the privacy between the user and service provider (e.g., mining user data to provide personalized services without infringing on user privacy). Controllable linkability can… More >

    Shayesteh Tabatabaei1,∗

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.35, No.6, pp. 477-494, 2020, DOI:10.32604/csse.2020.35.477

Abstract In recent years, the application of WSNs has been remarkably increased and notable developments and advances have been achieved in this regard. In particular, thanks to smart, cheaper and smaller nodes, different types of information can be detected and gathered in different environments and under different conditions. As the popularity of WSNs has increased, the problems and issues related to networks are examined and investigated. As a case in point, routing issue is one of the main challenges in this regard which has a direct impact on the performance of sensor networks. In WSN routing, sensor nodes send and receive… More >

    Vankamamidi S. Naresh1,∗,†, Suryateja S. Pericherla2,‡, Pilla Sita Rama Murty3,§, Sivaranjani Reddi4,¶

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.35, No.6, pp. 411-421, 2020, DOI:10.32604/csse.2020.35.411

Abstract Healthcare, the largest global industry, is undergoing significant transformations with the genesis of a new technology known as the Internet of Things (IoT). Many healthcare leaders are investing more money for transforming their services to harness the benefits provided by IoT, thereby paving the way for the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), an extensive collection of medical sensors and associated infrastructure. IoMT has many benefits like providing remote healthcare by monitoring health vitals of patients at a distant place, providing healthcare services to elderly people, and monitoring a large group of people in a region or country for detection and… More >

    Deepak Prashar1, Gyanendra Prasad Joshi2, Sudan Jha1, Eunmok Yang3, Kwang Chul Son4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1529-1549, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012986

Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) is envisioned as a network of various wireless sensor nodes communicating with each other to offer state-of-the-art solutions to real-time problems. These networks of wireless sensors monitor the physical environment and report the collected data to the base station, allowing for smarter decisions. Localization in wireless sensor networks is to localize a sensor node in a two-dimensional plane. However, in some application areas, such as various surveillances, underwater monitoring systems, and various environmental monitoring applications, wireless sensors are deployed in a three-dimensional plane. Recently, localization-based applications have emerged as one of the most promising services… More >
