Abstract Esophageal cancer (EC) was an aggressive malignant neoplasm characterized by high morbidity and poor prognosis. Identifying the changes in DNA damage repair genes helps to better understand the mechanisms of carcinoma progression. In this study, by comparing EC samples and normal samples, we found a total of 132 DDR expression with a significant difference. Moreover, we revealed higher expression of POLN, PALB2, ATM, PER1, TOP3B and lower expression of HMGB1, UBE2B were correlated to longer OS in EC. In addition, a prognostic risk score based on 7 DDR gene expression (POLN, HMGB1, TOP3B, PER1, UBE2B, ATM, PALB2) was constructed for… More >

    Mouna Bedoui1,*, Belgacem Bouallegue1,2, Abdelmoty M. Ahmed2, Belgacem Hamdi1,3, Mohsen Machhout1, Mahmoud1, M. Khattab2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2177-2193, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.026516

Abstract Since the end of the 1990s, cryptosystems implemented on smart cards have had to deal with two main categories of attacks: side-channel attacks and fault injection attacks. Countermeasures have been developed and validated against these two types of attacks, taking into account a well-defined attacker model. This work focuses on small vulnerabilities and countermeasures related to the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) algorithm. The work done in this paper focuses on protecting the ECDSA algorithm against fault-injection attacks. More precisely, we are interested in the countermeasures of scalar multiplication in the body of the elliptic curves to protect against… More >

    Code-based Sequential Aggregate Signature Scheme

    Bennian Dou1,*, Lei Xu1, Xiaoling Yu2, Lin Mei1, Cong Zuo3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5219-5231, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030270

Abstract This paper proposes the first code-based quantum immune sequential aggregate signature (SAS) scheme and proves the security of the proposed scheme in the random oracle model. Aggregate signature (AS) schemes and sequential aggregate signature schemes allow a group of potential signers to sign different messages respectively, and all the signatures of those users on those messages can be aggregated into a single signature such that the size of the aggregate signature is much smaller than the total size of all individual signatures. Because of the aggregation of many signatures into a single short signature, AS and SAS schemes can reduce… More >

Abstract To provide faster access to the treatment of patients, healthcare system can be integrated with Internet of Things to provide prior and timely health services to the patient. There is a huge limitation in the sensing layer as the IoT devices here have low computational power, limited storage and less battery life. So, this huge amount of data needs to be stored on the cloud. The information and the data sensed by these devices is made accessible on the internet from where medical staff, doctors, relatives and family members can access this information. This helps in improving the treatment as… More >

Bo Ling, Zuliang Huang, Suoyi Huang, Li Qian, Genliang Li, Qianli Tang

    Oncology Research, Vol.28, No.6, pp. 561-578, 2020, DOI:10.3727/096504020X15907428281601

Abstract There is growing evidence on the clinical significance of tumor microenvironment (TME) cells in predicting prognosis and therapeutic effects. However, cell interactions in tumor microenvironments have not been thoroughly studied or systematically analyzed so far. In this study, 22 immune cell components in the lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) TME were analyzed using gene expression profile from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). The TME-based molecular subtypes of LUAD were defined to evaluate further the relationship between molecular subtypes, prognosis, and clinical characteristics. A TME risk score model was constructed by using the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of… More >

    Magdy M. Fadel1,*, Sally M. El-Ghamrawy2, Amr M. T. Ali-Eldin1, Mohammed K. Hassan3, Ali I. El-Desoky1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 2293-2312, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028287

Abstract Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks are designed to interrupt network services such as email servers and webpages in traditional computer networks. Furthermore, the enormous number of connected devices makes it difficult to operate such a network effectively. Software defined networks (SDN) are networks that are managed through a centralized control system, according to researchers. This controller is the brain of any SDN, composing the forwarding table of all data plane network switches. Despite the advantages of SDN controllers, DDoS attacks are easier to perpetrate than on traditional networks. Because the controller is a single point of failure, if it fails, the… More >

Comprehensive analysis reveals an arachidonic acid metabolism-related gene signature in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

    HUILI ZHU1, LINA XIAO1, XIA YIN1, SHIBING XIANG1, CHUNHUI WANG2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.10, pp. 2241-2256, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.020389

Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is highly heterogeneous, making its prognosis prediction difficult. The arachidonic acid (AA) cascade is involved in carcinogenesis. Therefore, the metabolic enzymes of the AA cascade consist of lipoxygenases (LOXs), phospholipase A2s (PLA2s), and cyclooxygenases (COXs) along with their metabolic products, including leukotrienes. Nevertheless, the prognostic potential of AA metabolism-associated PDAC has not been explored. Herein, the mRNA expression patterns and the matching clinical information of individuals with PDAC were abstracted from online data resources. We employed the LASSO Cox regression model to develop a multigene clinical signature in the TCGA queue. The GEO queue and the… More >
