Abstract Smart Grid (SG) technologies enable the acquisition of huge volumes of high dimension and multi-class data related to electric power grid operations through the integration of advanced metering infrastructures, control systems, and communication technologies. In SGs, user demand data is gathered and examined over the present supply criteria whereas the expenses are then informed to the clients so that they can decide about electricity consumption. Since the entire procedure is valued on the basis of time, it is essential to perform adaptive estimation of the SG’s stability. Recent advancements in Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) models enable the… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1581-1594, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.024514

Abstract Smart Grids (SG) is a power system development concept that has received significant attention nationally. SG signifies real-time data for specific communication requirements. The best capabilities for monitoring and controlling the grid are essential to system stability. One of the most critical needs for smart-grid execution is fast, precise, and economically synchronized measurements, which are made feasible by Phasor Measurement Units (PMU). PMUs can provide synchronized measurements and measure voltages as well as current phasors dynamically. PMUs utilize GPS time-stamping at Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) to capture electric phasors with great accuracy and precision. This research tends to Deep Learning… More >

Abstract In the Smart Grid (SG) residential environment, consumers change their power consumption routine according to the price and incentives announced by the utility, which causes the prices to deviate from the initial pattern. Thereby, electricity demand and price forecasting play a significant role and can help in terms of reliability and sustainability. Due to the massive amount of data, big data analytics for forecasting becomes a hot topic in the SG domain. In this paper, the changing and non-linearity of consumer consumption pattern complex data is taken as input. To minimize the computational cost and complexity of the data, the… More >

Smart Grid Security by Embedding S-Box Advanced Encryption Standard

    Niraj Kumar1,*, Vishnu Mohan Mishra2, Adesh Kumar3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.1, pp. 623-638, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024804

Abstract Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems continuously monitor the real-time processes in the smart grid. The system software, which is based on a human-machine interface (HMI), makes intelligent decisions to assist the system operator and perform normal grid management activities. The management of SCADA networks and monitoring without proper security is a major concern, as many grids and plant networks still lack necessary monitoring and detection systems, making them vulnerable to attack. SCADA networks exploit physical weaknesses as well as cyber-attacks. Researchers have developed a monitoring system based on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and a microcontroller that allows… More >
