Refined Sparse Representation Based Similar Category Image Retrieval

Xin Wang, Zhilin Zhu, Zhen Hua*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.2, pp. 893-908, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021287

Abstract Given one specific image, it would be quite significant if humanity could simply retrieve all those pictures that fall into a similar category of images. However, traditional methods are inclined to achieve high-quality retrieval by utilizing adequate learning instances, ignoring the extraction of the image’s essential information which leads to difficulty in the retrieval of similar category images just using one reference image. Aiming to solve this problem above, we proposed in this paper one refined sparse representation based similar category image retrieval model. On the one hand, saliency detection and multi-level decomposition could contribute to taking salient and spatial… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.2, pp. 783-815, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020128

Abstract Big data analytics in business intelligence do not provide effective data retrieval methods and job scheduling that will cause execution inefficiency and low system throughput. This paper aims to enhance the capability of data retrieval and job scheduling to speed up the operation of big data analytics to overcome inefficiency and low throughput problems. First, integrating stacked sparse autoencoder and Elasticsearch indexing explored fast data searching and distributed indexing, which reduces the search scope of the database and dramatically speeds up data searching. Next, exploiting a deep neural network to predict the approximate execution time of a job gives prioritized… More >

Super-Resolution Based on Curvelet Transform and Sparse Representation

    Israa Ismail1,*, Mohamed Meselhy Eltoukhy1,2, Ghada Eltaweel1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 167-181, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.028906

Abstract Super-resolution techniques are used to reconstruct an image with a high resolution from one or more low-resolution image(s). In this paper, we proposed a single image super-resolution algorithm. It uses the nonlocal mean filter as a prior step to produce a denoised image. The proposed algorithm is based on curvelet transform. It converts the denoised image into low and high frequencies (sub-bands). Then we applied a multi-dimensional interpolation called Lancozos interpolation over both sub-bands. In parallel, we applied sparse representation with over complete dictionary for the denoised image. The proposed algorithm then combines the dictionary learning in the sparse representation… More >

Kandasamy Kittusamy*, Latha Shanmuga Vadivu Sampath Kumar

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 1989-2005, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.026501

Abstract Medical Image Fusion is the synthesizing technology for fusing multimodal medical information using mathematical procedures to generate better visual on the image content and high-quality image output. Medical image fusion represents an indispensible role in fixing major solutions for the complicated medical predicaments, while the recent research results have an enhanced affinity towards the preservation of medical image details, leaving color distortion and halo artifacts to remain unaddressed. This paper proposes a novel method of fusing Computer Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) using a hybrid model of Non Sub-sampled Contourlet Transform (NSCT) and Joint Sparse Representation (JSR). Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.2, pp. 1517-1529, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.026482

Abstract The recently developed machine learning (ML) models have the ability to obtain high detection rate using biomedical signals. Therefore, this article develops an Optimal Sparse Autoencoder based Sleep Stage Classification Model on Electroencephalography (EEG) Biomedical Signals, named OSAE-SSCEEG technique. The major intention of the OSAE-SSCEEG technique is to find the sleep stage disorders using the EEG biomedical signals. The OSAE-SSCEEG technique primarily undergoes preprocessing using min-max data normalization approach. Moreover, the classification of sleep stages takes place using the Sparse Autoencoder with Smoothed Regularization (SAE-SR) with softmax (SM) approach. Finally, the parameter optimization of the SAE-SR technique is carried out… More >

A Sparse Optimization Approach for Beyond 5G mmWave Massive MIMO Networks

    Waleed Shahjehan1, Abid Ullah1, Syed Waqar Shah1, Imran Khan1, Nor Samsiah Sani2, Ki-Il Kim3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.2, pp. 2797-2810, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026185

Abstract Millimeter-Wave (mmWave) Massive MIMO is one of the most effective technology for the fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks. It improves both the spectral and energy efficiency by utilizing the 30–300 GHz millimeter-wave bandwidth and a large number of antennas at the base station. However, increasing the number of antennas requires a large number of radio frequency (RF) chains which results in high power consumption. In order to reduce the RF chain's energy, cost and provide desirable quality-of-service (QoS) to the subscribers, this paper proposes an energy-efficient hybrid precoding algorithm for mmWave massive MIMO networks based on the idea of RF chains… More >

    Ashraf Mohamed Ali Hassan1, Mohammed S. Alzaidi2, Sherif S. M. Ghoneim2,3,*, Waleed El Nahal4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 4391-4408, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024044

Abstract This paper introduced an efficient compression technique that uses the compressive sensing (CS) method to obtain and recover sparse electrocardiography (ECG) signals. The recovery of the signal can be achieved by using sampling rates lower than the Nyquist frequency. A novel analysis was proposed in this paper. To apply CS on ECG signal, the first step is to generate a sparse signal, which can be obtained using Modified Discrete Cosine Transform (MDCT) on the given ECG signal. This transformation is a promising key for other transformations used in this search domain and can be considered as the main contribution of… More >
