    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.54, No.2, pp. 103-136, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.054.103

Abstract The dynamics of the moving-with-constant-velocity internal pressure acting on the inner surface of the hollow circular cylinder surrounded by an infinite elastic medium is studied within the scope of the piecewise homogeneous body model by employing the exact field equations of the linear theory of elastodynamics. It is assumed that the internal pressure is point-located with respect to the cylinder axis and is axisymmetric in the circumferential direction. Moreover, it is assumed that shear-spring type imperfect contact conditions on the interface between the cylinder and surrounding elastic medium are satisfied. The focus is on the influence of the mentioned imperfectness… More >

    M. Negin1, S. D. Akbarov2,3, M. E. Erguven1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.42, No.1, pp. 25-62, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2014.042.025

Abstract Within the framework of the piecewise homogeneous body model the influence of the shear-spring type imperfect contact conditions on the dispersion relation of the generalized Rayleigh waves in the system consisting of the initially stressed covering layer and initially stressed half plane is investigated. The second version of the small initial deformation theory of the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies is applied and the elasticity relations of the materials of the constituents are described by the Murnaghan potential. The magnitude of the imperfectness of the contact conditions is estimated through the shear-spring type parameter. Consequently,… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.39, No.1, pp. 3-20, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2014.039.003

Abstract The dynamic instability of rectangular graphite/epoxy composite plates under parametric excitation was investigated analytically and experimentally. In analysis, the dynamic system of the composite plate, obtained based on the assumedmodes method, is a general form of Mathieu’s equation, including parametrically excited terms. The instability regions of the system, each separated by two transition curves, were found to be functions of the modal parameters of the composite plate and the position and the excited amplitude of the electromagnetic device on the composite plates. The fiber orientation, the aspect ratio and the layer numbers of the composite plates were varied to assess… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 23-48, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2013.036.023

Abstract Within the scope of the piecewise homogeneous body model with utilizing of the three dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies the influence of the shear-spring type imperfection of the contact conditions between the layers of the pre-stressed bi-layered plate strip resting on the rigid foundation, on the frequency response of this plate strip is investigated. The corresponding mathematical problem is solved numerically by employing FEM and numerical results illustrating the influence of the parameter characterizing the degree of the mentioned imperfectness, on the frequency response of the normal stress acting on the interface planes between the… More >

The Spring-Damping Regularization Method and the Lie-Group Shooting Method for Inverse Cauchy Problems

    Chein-Shan Liu1,2, Chung-Lun Kuo3, Dongjie Liu4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 105-124, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2011.024.105

Abstract The inverse Cauchy problems for elliptic equations, such as the Laplace equation, the Poisson equation, the Helmholtz equation and the modified Helmholtz equation, defined in annular domains are investigated. The outer boundary of the annulus is imposed by overspecified boundary data, and we seek unknown data on the inner boundary through the numerical solution by a spring-damping regularization method and its Lie-group shooting method (LGSM). Several numerical examples are examined to show that the LGSM can overcome the ill-posed behavior of inverse Cauchy problem against the disturbance from random noise, and the computational cost is very cheap. Design of Non-linear Beam-type Spring for Designated Loading and Displacement for Use in Lower-limb Orthosis

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 229-242, 2009, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2009.011.229

Abstract In this study, a method for designing an in-plane, free-form, beam-type spring for use in a lower-limb orthosis was developed. A spring designed by this method follows a predefined relationship between loading and displacement. To facilitate the analysis of the spring, it was divided into several beam segments. The stiffness equations related to loading (including moment and force) and displacements (linear and rotation) of each beam segment were found to follow a modified (non-linear) Castigliano's second theorem (NCST) and were assembled by using the continuity of nodal points of neighbouring curve segments. Using the proposed method, a spring designer can… More >
