    Abstract Crowd counting is a challenging task in crowded scenes due to heavy occlusions, appearance variations and perspective distortions. Current crowd counting methods typically operate on an image patch level with overlaps, then sum over the patches to get the final count. In this paper we describe a real-time pedestrian counting framework based on a two-stage human detection algorithm.     Early Stage of Oxidation on Titanium Surface by Reactive Molecular Dynamics Simulation

    Abstract Understanding of metal oxidation is very critical to corrosion control, catalysis synthesis, and advanced materials engineering. Metal oxidation is a very complex phenomenon, with many different processes which are coupled and involved from the onset of reaction. In this work, the initial stage of oxidation on titanium surface was investigated in atomic scale by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using a reactive force field (ReaxFF). We show that oxygen transport is the dominant process during the initial oxidation.     Abstract In this paper a study of the atmospheric plasma spraying process was conducted. The Jets&Poudres code was used to solve the partial differential equations for the conservation of mass, momentum and energy involved in the problem together with the K-e turbulent model. The Taguchi technique was used to study the influence of processing factors on droplet impact properties obtained on dense zirconia (ZrO2) under H2Ar75% plasma gas that allow optimal functioning condition.     Abstract This study performs a series of Molecular Dynamics (MD) and Molecular Statics (MS) simulations to investigate the mechanical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) under a uniaxial tensile strain. The simulations focus specifically on the effects of the nanotube helicity, the nanotube diameter and the percentage of vacancy defects on the bond length, bond angle and tensile strength of zigzag and armchair SWCNTs.
