Preparation and characterization of CuAlXSn1-XS2 thin films prepared by electron beam deposition system

    A. S. Alqarnia,, S. N. Alamrib,

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.22, No.5, pp. 493-506, 2025, DOI:10.15251/CL.2025.225.493

Abstract Abundant and environmentally friendly solar cells materials Cu2AlSnS4 (CATS) thin film successively prepared by electron beam deposition system. The impact of various deposition times and post-annealing at 450 °C under nitrogen gas atmosphere on the structures, morphologies, and spectroscopic characteristics of the obtained CATS films were investigated. Both deposition time variation and annealing process were found to significantly affect the crystallinity, bonding vibration, surface morphology, energy band gaps, and Urbach energy of the CATS films. EDX spectra of the films disclosed the existence of all constituents’ elements. XRD analysis of the post-annealed films verified their multiple More >

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.21, No.8, pp. 605-613, 2024, DOI:10.15251/CL.2024.218.605

Abstract Copper doped Zinc oxide and (n-ZnO / p-Si and n-ZnO: Cu / p-Si) thin films thru thickness (400±20) nm were deposited by thermal evaporation technique onto two substrates. The influence of different Cu percentages (1%,3% and 5%) on ZnO thin film besides hetero junction (ZnO / Si) characteristics were investigated, with X-ray diffractions examination supports ZnO films were poly crystal then hexagonal structural per crystallite size increase from (22.34 to 28.09) nm with increasing Cu ratio. The optical properties display exceptional optically absorptive for 5% Cu dopant with reduced for optically gaps since 3.1 toward More >

Electro-Optical Model of Soiling Effects on Photovoltaic Panels and Performance Implications

    A. Asbayou1,*, G.P. Smestad2, I. Ismail1, A. Soussi1, A. Elfanaoui1, L. Bouhouch1, A. Ihlal1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.2, pp. 243-258, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.046409 - 25 January 2024

Abstract In this paper, a detailed model of a photovoltaic (PV) panel is used to study the accumulation of dust on solar panels. The presence of dust diminishes the incident light intensity penetrating the panel’s cover glass, as it increases the reflection of light by particles. This phenomenon, commonly known as the “soiling effect”, presents a significant challenge to PV systems on a global scale. Two basic models of the equivalent circuits of a solar cell can be found, namely the single-diode model and the two-diode models. The limitation of efficiency data in manufacturers’ datasheets has More > Graphic Abstract

Optical and Mechanical Properties of Ramie Fiber/Epoxy Resin Transparent Composites

    Chunhua Liu1, Dongfang Zou1, Qinqin Huang1, Shang Li2, Xia Zheng1, Xingong Li1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.10, pp. 3613-3624, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.028111 - 10 August 2023

Abstract The residual resources of ramie fiber-based textile products were used as raw materials. Ramie fiber felt (RF) was modified by NaClO2 aqueous solution and then impregnated with water-based epoxy resin (WER). RF/WER transparent composite materials were prepared by lamination hot pressing process. The composite materials’color difference, transmittance, haze, density, water absorption, and mechanical properties were determined to assess the effects of NaClO2 treatment and the number of ramie fiber layers on the properties of the prepared composites. The results showed significantly improved optical and mechanical properties of the RF/WER transparent composites after NaClO2 treatment. With the increase More > Graphic Abstract

Structural and Physicochemical Properties of Dust and Their Effect on Solar Modules Efficiency in Agadir-Morocco

Abdellah Asbayou*, Ahmed Ihlal, Ismail Isknan, Ahmed Soussi, Lahoussine Bouhouch

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.5, pp. 2249-2264, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.025456 - 13 February 2023

Abstract Experiments of soiling effects on the performances of a PV panel have been performed using dust collected from two sites in the region of Agadir-Morocco. The optical transmittance of the front glass was found to depend on the nature and density of dust. The nature of dust was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. It was found that the granulometry of dust particles depends on the study area. For a dust density of around 20 g/m², the maximum power Pmax of the solar panel decreases drastically from 30 to More > Graphic Abstract
