    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 143-156, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023344

Abstract Wireless sensor networks comprise a set of autonomous sensor nodes, commonly used for data gathering and tracking applications. Node localization and intrusion detection are considered as the major design issue in WSN. Therefore, this paper presents a new multi-objective manta ray foraging optimization (MRFO) based node localization with intrusion detection (MOMRFO-NLID) technique for WSN. The goal of the MOMRFO-NLID technique is to optimally localize the unknown nodes and determine the existence of intrusions in the network. The MOMRFO-NLID technique encompasses two major stages namely MRFO based localization of nodes and optimal Siamese Neural Network (OSNN) based intrusion detection. The OSNN… More >

Fault Tolerance Techniques for Multi-Hop Clustering in Wireless Sensor Networks

    Adel Rajab*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.3, pp. 1743-1761, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021922

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSN) deploy many nodes over an extended area for traffic surveillance, environmental monitoring, healthcare, tracking wildlife, and military sensing. Nodes of the WSN have a limited amount of energy. Each sensor node collects information from the surrounding area and forwards it onto the cluster head, which then sends it on to the base station (BS). WSNs extend the lifetime of the network through clustering techniques. Choosing nodes with the greatest residual energy as cluster heads is based on the idea that energy consumption is periodically distributed between nodes. The sink node gathers information from its environment that… More >

    Idrees Sarhan Kocher*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 3821-3838, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023478

Abstract Applications of Wireless Sensor devices are widely used by various monitoring sections such as environmental monitoring, industrial sensing, habitat modeling, healthcare and enemy movement detection systems. Researchers were found that 16 bytes packet size (payload) requires Media Access Control (MAC) and globally unique network addresses overheads as more as the payload itself which is not reasonable in most situations. The approach of using a unique address isn't preferable for most Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) applications as well. Based on the mentioned drawbacks, the current work aims to fill the existing gap in the field area by providing two strategies. First,… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.1, pp. 373-386, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020993

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) gained wide attention in the past decade, thanks to its attractive features like flexibility, monitoring capability, and scalability. It overcomes the crucial problems experienced in network management and facilitates the development of diverse network architectures. The existence of dynamic and adaptive routing features facilitate the quick formation of such networks. But flexible architecture also makes it highly vulnerable to different sorts of attacks, for instance, Denial of Service (DoS). Grey Hole Attack (GHA) is the most crucial attack types since it creates a heavy impact upon the components of WSN and eventually degrades the performance of… More >

Sultan H. Almotiri*, Mohammed A. Al Ghamdi

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.1, pp. 439-455, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021012

Abstract The identification of an effective network which can efficiently meet the service requirements of the target, while maintaining ultimate performance at an increased level is significant and challenging in a fully interconnected wireless medium. The wrong selection can contribute to unwanted situations like frustrated users, slow service, traffic congestion issues, missed and/or interrupted calls, and wastefulness of precious network components. Conventional schemes estimate the handoff need and cause the network screening process by a single metric. The strategies are not effective enough because traffic characteristics, user expectations, network terminology and other essential device metrics are not taken into account. This… More >
