A Modified Bi-Directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization Procedure with Variable Evolutionary Volume Ratio Applied to Multi-Objective Topology Optimization Problem

    Xudong Jiang1,*, Jiaqi Ma1, Xiaoyan Teng2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 511-526, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022785 - 29 September 2022

Abstract Natural frequency and dynamic stiffness under transient loading are two key performances for structural design related to automotive, aviation and construction industries. This article aims to tackle the multi-objective topological optimization problem considering dynamic stiffness and natural frequency using modified version of bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO). The conventional BESO is provided with constant evolutionary volume ratio (EVR), whereas low EVR greatly retards the optimization process and high EVR improperly removes the efficient elements. To address the issue, the modified BESO with variable EVR is introduced. To compromise the natural frequency and the dynamic stiffness, More >

    Rana Muhammad Zulqarnain1, Imran Siddique2, Rifaqat Ali3, Fahd Jarad4,5,6,*, Aiyared Iampan7

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 619-651, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022767 - 29 September 2022

Abstract Experts use Pythagorean fuzzy hypersoft sets (PFHSS) in their investigations to resolve the indeterminate and imprecise information in the decision-making process. Aggregation operators (AOs) perform a leading role in perceptivity among two circulations of prospect and pull out concerns from that perception. In this paper, we extend the concept of PFHSS to interval-valued PFHSS (IVPFHSS), which is the generalized form of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy soft set. The IVPFHSS competently deals with uncertain and ambagious information compared to the existing interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy soft set. It is the most potent method for amplifying fuzzy data in… More >

    Xuanang Li1, Shuangshuang Liu1, Saru Kumari2, Chien-Ming Chen1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 711-732, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022667 - 29 September 2022

Abstract Nowadays, the widespread application of 5G has promoted rapid development in different areas, particularly in the Internet of Things (IoT), where 5G provides the advantages of higher data transfer rate, lower latency, and widespread connections. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which comprise various sensors, are crucial components of IoT. The main functions of WSN include providing users with real-time monitoring information, deploying regional information collection, and synchronizing with the Internet. Security in WSNs is becoming increasingly essential because of the across-the-board nature of wireless technology in many fields. Recently, Yu et al. proposed a user authentication protocol for WSN. Numerical Assessment of Nanofluid Natural Convection Using Local RBF Method Coupled with an Artificial Compressibility Model

    Muneerah Al Nuwairan1,*, Elmiloud Chaabelasri2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 133-154, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022649 - 29 September 2022

Abstract In this paper, natural heat convection inside square and equilateral triangular cavities was studied using a meshless method based on collocation local radial basis function (RBF). The nanofluids used were Cu-water or -water mixture with nanoparticle volume fractions range of . A system of continuity, momentum, and energy partial differential equations was used in modeling the flow and temperature behavior of the fluids. Partial derivatives in the governing equations were approximated using the RBF method. The artificial compressibility model was implemented to overcome the pressure velocity coupling problem that occurs in such equations. The main goal… More > Graphic Abstract

Optimal Joint Space Control of a Cable-Driven Aerial Manipulator

    Li Ding1,*, Rui Ma1, Zhengtian Wu2, Rongzhi Qi1, Wenrui Ruan1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 441-464, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022642 - 29 September 2022

Abstract This article proposes a novel method for maintaining the trajectory of an aerial manipulator by utilizing a fast nonsingular terminal sliding mode (FNTSM) manifold and a linear extended state observer (LESO). The developed control method applies an FNTSM to ensure the tracking performance’s control accuracy, and an LESO to estimate the system’s unmodeled dynamics and external disturbances. Additionally, an improved salp swarm algorithm (ISSA) is employed to parameter tune the suggested controller by integrating the salp swarm technique with a cloud model. This approach also uses a model-free scheme to reduce the complexity of controller More >

Cushioning Performance of Hilbert Fractal Sandwich Packaging Structures under Quasi-Static Compressions

    Xingye Xu1, Haiyan Song1,2,*, Lijun Wang1,2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 275-292, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022637 - 29 September 2022

Abstract The sandwich structure of cushioning packaging has an important influence on the cushioning performance. Mathematical fractal theory is an important graphic expression. Based on Hilbert fractal theory, a new sandwich structure was designed. The generation mechanism and recurrence formula of the Hilbert fractal were expressed by Lin’s language, and the second-order Hilbert sandwich structure was constructed from thermoplastic polyurethane. The constitutive model of the hyperelastic body was established by using the finite element method. With the unit mass energy absorption as the optimization goal, the fractal sandwich structure was optimized, and the best result was More >

Overview of Earth-Moon Transfer Trajectory Modeling and Design

Jiye Zhang, Huichang Yu, Honghua Dai*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 5-43, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022585 - 29 September 2022

Abstract The Moon is the only celestial body that human beings have visited. The design of the Earth-Moon transfer orbits is a critical issue in lunar exploration missions. In the 21st century, new lunar missions including the construction of the lunar space station, the permanent lunar base, and the Earth-Moon transportation network have been proposed, requiring low-cost, expansive launch windows and a fixed arrival epoch for any launch date within the launch window. The low-energy and low-thrust transfers are promising strategies to satisfy the demands. This review provides a detailed landscape of Earth-Moon transfer trajectory design More >
