    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3243-3262, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022171 - 14 July 2022

Abstract The use of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) to confine concrete columns improves the strength and ductility of the columns by reducing passive lateral confinement pressure. Many numerical and analytical formulations have been proposed in the literature to describe the compressive behaviour of FRP confined concrete under both monotonic and cyclic loads. However, the effect of a stress/strain level in the columns has not been well defined because of the lack of well-defined strategies of modelling and oversimplification of the model. This paper reviews the existing FRP combinations and the available numerical and analytical methods to determine More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3477-3489, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.021282 - 14 July 2022

Abstract Coral materials can replace concrete aggregates and achieve material self-sufficiency for reducing the construction costs of island projects. This paper studies the effects of different mineral admixtures on the properties of coral aggregate concrete (CAC). The chloride concentration of CAC after different erosion times is measured using the potentiometric method, and the porosity of the CAC is calculated using thermogravimetric and drying methods. The chloride concentration of the CAC presents a two-phases distribution. The peak chloride concentration followed a power function, increasing with the erosion time. The chloride diffusion coefficient of CAC is 7.9%– 37.5% More >

Abstract Adsorption can be used to recover effectively the volatile organic gases (VOCs) in the exhaust gas from factories through using an appropriate adsorption bed. Due to form a physical or chemical bond, adsorption occurs between the porous solid medium and the liquid or gas multi-component fluid mixture. The regeneration capacity of the adsorbent is as important as the adsorption capacity and it determines the economics of the adsorption system. The regeneration of adsorbent can be realized through changing the pressure or temperature of the system. Here, activated carbon samples from coconut shell were prepared and… More > Graphic Abstract
