Hongtao Liu, Hongtao Jing, Zhixiong Tu*, Shiyong Qin, Junhui Wei, Xiaotong Yu

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.7, pp. 1851-1862, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025015 - 08 March 2023

Abstract Reservoirs characterized by high temperature, high-pressure, medium high cementation strength, low porosity, and low permeability, in general, are not affected by sand production issues. Since 2009, however, it is known that cases exists where sand is present and may represent a significant technical problem (e.g., the the Dina II condensate gas field). In the present study, the main factors affecting sand production in this type of reservoir are considered (mechanical properties, stress fields, production system, completion method and gas flow pattern changes during the production process). On this basis, a new liquid-solid coupled porous elasto-plastic More >

Abstract Electro-hydraulic proportional valve is the core control valve in many hydraulic systems used in agricultural and engineering machinery. To address the problem related to the large throttling losses and poor stability typically associated with these valves, here, the beneficial effects of a triangular groove structure on the related hydraulic response are studied. A mathematical model of the pressure compensation system based on the power-bond graph method is introduced, and the AMESim software is used to simulate its response. The results show that the triangular groove structure increases the jet angle and effectively compensates for the More > Graphic Abstract

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.7, pp. 1875-1896, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025224 - 08 March 2023

Abstract Sodium-alginate (SA) based nanofluids represent a new generation of fluids with improved performances in terms of heat transfer. This work examines the influence of the nanoparticle shape on a non–Newtonian viscoplastic Cu–nanofluid pertaining to this category. In particular, a stretching/shrinking sheet subjected to a transverse magnetic field is considered. The proposed Cu–nanofluid consists of four different nanoparticles having different shapes, namely bricks, cylinders, platelets, and blades dispersed in a mixture of sodium alginate with Prandtl number Pr = 6.45. Suitable similarity transformations are employed to reduce non–linear PDEs into a system of ODEs and these More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.7, pp. 1907-1923, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025416 - 08 March 2023

Abstract When aluminum alloys are coupled with dissimilar materials, they often act as corrosion anodes and are suscepted to accelerated corrosion. Therefore, deepening our knowledge of such corrosion phenomena, related mechanisms, and elaborating new prediction model is of great theoretical and practical significance. In this paper, such mechanisms are explained from both macroscopic and microscopic points of view by considering several aspects such as the second phase particle type, grain size, and environmental ions. More specifically, different perspectives on such a problem are elaborated, which take into account: the properties of the coupling pair materials, geometrical… More >

Research on the Corrosion of J55 Steel Due to Oxygen-Reducing Air Flooding in Low-Permeability Reservoirs

    Liang Wang1, Baofeng Hou1, Yanming Fang3, Jintao Zhang2, Fajian Nie1,2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.7, pp. 1925-1937, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025966 - 08 March 2023

Abstract Oxygen-reducing air flooding is a low-permeability reservoir recovery technology with safety and low-cost advantages. However, in the process of air injection and drive, carbon in the air is oxidized through the crude oil reservoir to generate CO2, and this can cause serious corrosion in the recovery well. In this study, experiments on the corrosion of J55 tubular steel in a fluid environment with coexisting O2 and CO2 in an autoclave are presented. In particular, a weight loss method and a 3D morphometer were used to determine the average and the local corrosion rate. The corrosion surface morphology More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.7, pp. 1837-1850, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.026814 - 08 March 2023

Abstract Torquigener albomaculosus, also known as the white-spotted pufferfish, is known for creating circular nests in the underwater sand as part of the mating ritual. The nests are built by the males to attract females through the nest’s impressive design and related ability to gather fine sand particles. As the fluid-dynamic processes associated with these unique nests are still almost completely unknown, in the present study, an analysis has been conducted to investigate how the geometric parameters related to the nest design influence the fluid velocity in its center. For this reason, a geometric model of More > Graphic Abstract

Detection of Frost-Resistance Property of Large-Size Concrete Based on Impact-Echo Method

    Qi Feng1, Zhengyue Ren2, Dan Wang3,*

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.1, pp. 71-88, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2023.024912 - 02 March 2023

Abstract The dynamic elasticity modulus (Ed) is the most commonly used indexes for nondestructive testing to represent the internal damage of hydraulic concrete. Samples with a specific size is required when the transverse resonance method was used to detect the Ed, resulting in a limitation for field tests. The impact-echo method can make up defects of traditional detection methods for frost-resistance testing, such as the evaluation via the loss of mass or strength. The feasibility of the impact-echo method to obtain the relative Ed is explored to detect the frost-resistance property of large-volume hydraulic concretes on site. Results… More >
